Or, more specifically, most things on eBay you can't sell.

But, this wasn't really a question of what you could and couldn't live without, this was a question of if you would ever actually consider selling everything and then starting a new life.

Not just what you need to survive, but selling everything--job, friends, home, possession, etc--and starting completely new some place else. Would you ever do that?

I honestly don't think I could just sell everything and start over.

I really want to, but only because of the debt that i've managed to rack up. Other than that, I love my friends, I love my family, I love my life, and I love my minivan and Whitey.

No matter what amount of debt and such, I don't think I can willingly just give up my life for any dollar amount.

And, I know about the getting bogged down, but I took care of that and moved to NorCal. And, then I moved again to the other side of the SF Bay and with a coworker. Tried the roommate thing, and I like it. It's new, and while I do miss my friends, I haven't "sold" them. They're just 45 minutes or 5 hours away.

My computer is technically "on" all the time, if you count the fact that it's just hibernated when I'm not using it. The state at which stuff is being used is just captured and suspended until I "boot" it up again.

The only computer I leave on all the time is my work computer, and that one has 2 GB of memory with a 3.2 GHz Intel Duo-Core.

My roommate thrives on writing angry letters to businesses, which usually involves him getting some sort of freebie in exchange for the ill-services rendered.

When his foldable bike came packaged incorrectly and with minor cosmetic dents, they sent him a free bag and a free replacement tire for his angry efforts.

I haven't done any sort of angry letter writing in years, but I have been known to get free M&Ms in previous years.

Professional Mafia Assassin.

As in the concept behind my "Demon" stories, where I would only target those that have wronged Mafia and organized crime syndicates. Never the small-time criminals, never the innocents. It would have to something like two-faced mob bosses or something like that.

Other than that, I'm already working my obscure dream job: being paid to play games at Yahoo.

So, I know that this is a major bump, but it did occur to me that the new car is more ninja-like than Jack was.

In the middle, I had a white Honda Civic, but now I own a charcoal gray Mazda5 minivan, which does have the BREW NJA license plate.

And, I now have brewninja.com.

But, I don't know how to make it any more ninja-like than what it currently is, and I don't want to ruin the pain by sticking things on it. Help?

Here comes the thread killer...

I love Japanese, but only because of the level of efficiency in the construction and execution of the language. Works wonders to apply it to programming.

This is why I shouldn't have access to a Macbook Pro:

It's not so much that I was bored (I wasn't) but the song came on and the iMovie link is right there on the dock, and it only takes a few minutes to render and upload while I'm at lunch...so, it was something to do just before I headed out of my cube for lunch. By the time I get back, it's rendered, saved, uploaded, and rendered again on YouTube.

So, it was just something that I do from time to time, and this time seemed very awesome to do a Britney Spears thing, no matter how much I dislike her current self. And, besides, it was quite the fun.

Well, it's already on 17" sport performance tires (required) . Sumitomos, I believe. The rims are probably not going to change anytime soon (came with the car) since I can't afford them.

It's already designed to be a sporty minivan (sport shifter) and rides quite well when I'm by myself (and the tires are filled with nitrogen).

But, I can't lower it any more or I wouldn't make it over the speed bumps near work and in our neighborhood. But, there are probably other things I can do to it in the meantime. It's nickname is the "minivan of evil" because I used to have "Evil Inside" magnets on both sides of the car. Nickname just stuck, and all my coworkers and friends refer to it as that.

I even designed a logo, which will go up on my site as soon as that portion of the site is done:

Yeah, LEAVE BREW NINJA ALONE.

Other than that, this was a few minutes during my lunch time at work, entirely a lip-sync, and quite fun to do.

If you pay attention to the ending portion, the moment I sit down and kind of tone it down was when the cleaning lady came to empty my trash can.

I've had both, but I'd prefer the 5 hours of energy to the 5 hours of sleep. Five hours of sleep would only leave me sleepier when I wake up, unless it's a 5-hour nap. And that 5-hour energy drink is kind of good, and very helpful when doing city-wide scavenger hunts in San Francisco.

What is the fastest you've ever gone in a car, whether or not you were driving?

Not really. Internet fame at most. And, aside from that, $1K will pay off a loan? I want your loans. Mine are $15K thus far.

"Yahoo! Mobile QA"

But, since this was four minutes of my lunch time, I figured best to erase it right afterward. I mean, I do work, but this was lunch time (which is basically anytime between Noon and 3PM while I'm hungry--they close down our cafe after 3PM to prepare for dinner service).

It's rare that I dance. I usually end up singing. When I'm at my desk, that is. Since Yahoo! has a widespread blanket of 802.11n coverage, I can be anywhere on campus and still working. I usually end up outside our cafeteria/cafe with some kind of free coffee drink working until the computer dies or I decide to head back inside.

No, I understand, considering that I'm restraining myself today from doing another vid of me dancing to "It's Raining Men". My iTunes library is evil.

Ouch, talk about decisions.

Um, well, I'd see them next day, so the second one. I don't think I could deal with a mom doing things of any sort. It would end up ruining the moment.

Should I (and I will document it somehow) run around singing "It's Raining Men" somewhere on the Yahoo! campus, or scare my roommate by moving his car?

Considering I am that person that specializes in random non-sequiturs, I'd have to say that I haven't been on the receiving end of my questions. And, if I have, I don't remember them.

That almost made sense.

I don't mind, I'm an attention whore.

The more, the merrier. I don't mind being made fun of. It's just one of 123 videos in my account, and if you can find Episode 19 of my videoblog on there, you'll get treated to the opening cheer from "Bring It On".

I find myself watching it at least once a day now...

Posted on 08-19-08 08:20 PM, in We all know the US Download speeds are slow, but how slow compared in other countries? Link
We're paying $33 a month for 18mb down and 5 up, so it's not bad considering. We're also not dead last, really, and Japan isn't really that good. If you're looking at just numbers, then yes, it looks bad, but there are other factors in play that aren't reflected in those numbers. Such as peak user times.

I can download an entire movie in 10 minutes if I'm using my internet connection at 2 in the morning (I'm usually up); not the case if I'm trying to do so at 2 in the afternoon. Also, my higher memory Mac is able to download things faster than my lower memory PC. The directly connected (wired) computers in our home download things faster than the WiFi PCs.

At Yahoo, towards the end of the day, we're averaging 18mb down and 16 up (on the WiFi), and I know it fluctuates through the day, and that's pretty good considering the amount of data moving in and out of this complex (since our main datacenter is somewhere near here--can't say where).

And, my all time best has been 20mb down and 18 up at 4PM in March of this year.

SpeedTest.net keeps track of all the times I've run the test, from any of my computers, so I can always judge how well I'm doing. Frankly, I don't care because I'm not even using the full capacity of my internet adapters at any one time ever. The occasional TV show, maybe, but other than that, I can wait anywhere from 10 minutes to 6 hours to get something I want.
