Well, I was originally going to lump this in with the E*Bay con man thread I started, this is a completely new form of crazy scary.

http://www.evanwashere.com/StolenSidekick/

Girl accidentally leaves her Sidekick in a taxi. Some kids find it and refuse to return it.

Girl's friend starts a website to "shame" the people with an obsessive posting ethic (he's even taking off work to pursue the situation, or at least he's claiming to). At first I saw the site as a noble act to try and right a wrong, but now it's just scary. Blown-up egos everywhere and suddenly the Sidekick has gone from "my friend's" to "OURS" to "mine."

What's scary are the things being conceived by this:
http://allyoursidekick.ytmnd.com/

Either way... if this guy is planning a convention for next week and "still hasn't hired any talent" and is dedicating every waking moment to the most inane details of this situation, I'd say he's the dumbass.

I glanced over the message board. Someone posted this with the speculation that they're trying to sell it on E*Bay.

http://cgi.ebay.com/LIKE-NEW-SIDEKICK-2-II-WITH-SIM-CARD-T-MOBILE_W0QQitemZ9738417792QQihZ008QQcategoryZ64355QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

It's a bit fishy, a one-day auction with the person being from Corona, NY (where the "thieves" are from) and with included (but not pictured) charger and such.

Could be.

Yeah, it's hard not to spend too much time reading it. There's just an ungodly amount of drama over this. Sheesh.

They might not be doing it for the fame or fortune (because there are lucrative gains in this *rolls eyes* I can just see a movie now), they're certainly doing it for the ego trip.

"Now that's a very broad question, but let's see if I can't give it the old college try."

*Rogue winks*

"Sorry, not very punny.

Um... Upon leaving high school and going through one very eye-opening summer of self-discovery, I spent the first couple weeks in college pretty much being a loner and not really talking with anyone, despite being on the paper.

There was one fateful day when my paper assigned me to run out and cover this event one of the clubs was doing for September 11. I went out and talked with them and ended up joining their club a couple days later.

Through them I branched out and made friends with many other people, including the people of whom many of you are acquainted with today: Elara, Zabuza, WhiteRose, GuardianOni, Captain Jack Sparrow, and many, many more who aren't on the board. With them I felt many a heartache and a triumphant heart soar with many of the things they've been through that I've been there to see or hear about. Many a joke told, a road trip taken, a sleep deprived night gone by, a play gone to to cheer one up, zero hour screenings, masquerades. It's all there. It's all been good.

Through our friend, Pat (used to go by Junkie when he posted on the board), I met my future Rocky Horror cast, Midnight Insanity, as he took me there on a kinda-sorta friendly date. Since then I had stuck with that cast as a techie and worked with them through conventions, the Rocky Horror Picture Show 30th Anniversary where my cast performed at the Hollywood Bowl and many other things. Through my Rocky Horror family I've attended some really wild parties, made friends with people across the country, drank and partied with many of them at our convention in Vegas, hung out with all sorts of people, interviewed Rocky Horror celebrities and become long time friends with my techie comrades in arms.

Also through Pat I became acquainted with my now very-bestest friend of all time (Yes, I know bestest is not a word, but it is when I say it )-- Brandon (Zoso on the board). Pat introduced him to me by inviting him to come with us one night at Rocky. Eventually he and I voiced our mutual like for each other, we've taken to going on each other's crazy adventures, and it's history after that.

He has since joined a band with other people from Midnight Insanity, all of which I feel closer to with each passing day.

When it comes to my newspaper friends--man, do they ever vary with each passing year. They come and go so quickly, yet whenever my old friends come into the newsroom it's just chaos as we yell and exchange stories back and forth and laugh hysterically. With many of them, we've been through hell together, journalism conventions, deadlines, and still manage to make each other laugh. Navy is the best example of this. Her mother past away a couple months ago, but even during the time her mother was sick and even after her death, Navy still keeps a stiff upper lip and tells wild anecdotes with me.

Through my own accord, I started becoming more acquainted with exhibitors and such at conventions, epsecially while working as one myself at Anime Expo among other cons while working for my cousin's anime merchandising business, AnimeTen.

I've met and hung out with many kinds of people from conventions like San Diego Comic-Con, AX (Anime Expo), Wizard World, PMX (Pacific Media Expo), Lebowski Fest, Xena Con, the list goes on.

Lastly, but not leastly (stupid word plays), we come to the board. Although I haven't met most of the members in person, I've constantly grown to feel a bond with them. My fellow staffers have become a family, Xeo has grown to feel like my brother as have Kaijin and Sparda, my long-lost brother. I joined a few boards not long into my first semester in college and came upon here not long after that experimentation.

There are other obscure groups within my circle that I may address (like my larp friends, faire friends, acting troupe friends), but this answer has already gone on for far too long and I've already named off the bigger ones.

I have a very diverse group of friends that range from geeks to gamers to goths to the transmundane to stoners (or drug addicts, in general) to the adventurous to the stubborn to the actors to that one kid in the crowd trying to be normal.

I've always described my most inner circle of friends as this, "My friends are the ones who are in on an inside joke and everyone else is outside." With my friends am I my most open and free, as I can be a social vampire when left alone or among people I don't know. And with these friends, I'm bouncing off the walls and laughing about anything and everything.

Hopefully that answers your question."

Girls, girls, you're both pretty. Calm down.

Nªrú†õ™: Please take off your layout in your first post. Although you can see the body of the video, it's still distracting.

Shaddow: Why are you being so confrontational (general statement)? All right you got him to post a rant at you, are you happy now?

Why attack Nªrú†õ™ for one video when we might as well call ourselves YouTube Jr. with how many threads there are just for videos from that site flying around on this board?

Meh.

As to the video, it's kinda lame, but the first girl looks exactly like my friend Joy, which makes me question if it is her since this is something she'd do... But she'd do it naked.

Shaddow is correct in that this thread needs to be closed. I know you don't like when other people post these threads and for the most part they're just opening cans of worms that don't need to be opened.

Before I go through with my duty, here's my answer since you asked for it:

As one who knows you in the 3D world and as a friend sworn to tell you all the things you don't want to hear, on many levels you can be very egotistical and an ass.

On the board you can be blunt when it's unnecessary. It hurts people's feelings, bruises an ego here or there and just makes people post more angrily and indignantly.

Sometimes you're very boastful. Exchange those $300 Gucci sunglasses for a blue DS Lite or an E3 badge or being a hacker or being a government agent. I know you have, or been, these things and that's great and all it's just sometimes you'll just go on about them.

Obviously this is not all you do, if it were then you obviously wouldn't be my friend, which I'm proud to say that you are. You're a very generous, loving person who's got it worse than many people I know who are much bigger asses than you (i.e. all those hipsters from El Cid that one night, people who party at LACMA just because, etc).

I know I can be a bitch among many other things. We aren't perfect.

Now I have to close this. I'll talk to you later.

Well this has certainly deviated from the original point of the thread, which in itself is a rule violation-- No self-advertising, if you want people to go and vote, ask through PM or find another premise.

Thanks, but no thanks for the help. Not to detract from the whole point of this thread to address this, but the only reason it's been that way is because people are saying it. There hasn't been much trouble on the board and when there is it's blown out of proportion. It's a message board, for crying out loud.

At least we aren't like our predecessors who have sunk to the non-PC, homophobic asshole posters whom the admins are too afraid to deal with or offering people money to stay here (If any of you start IMing me to ask for money, you're going to be getting something completely different in the mail).

Anyway, back on topic, the video is amusing at points, but then gives over to annoying very quickly, kinda like when the Numa Numa video had all those pictures added in.

The Numa Numa video is an Internet classic and was a phenomenon that surpassed its original superior, the Star Wars kid. It's hard to see people spoofing it and do well. Hell, most of them are kinda crappy.

Though this one claims to be putting down other people's videos, it becomes a Numa Numa spoof on its own.

I was actually going to close this last week, but decided against it since he was still less than 2 weeks a member (the rule of thumb before closing newbie threads--A newbie thread can remain open for posting for 2 weeks or until the member reaches 100 posts).

I don't know why some of you have shot so far from the original point of the thread, but hey whatever, it's the Newbie forum and the guy only posted once.

And I was answering honestly. How weird.

You scored as Captain Jack Sparrow. Roguish,quick-witted, and incredibly lucky, Jack Sparrow is a pirate who sometimes ends up being a hero, against his better judgement. Captain Jack looks out for #1, but he can be counted on (usually) to do the right thing. He has an incredibly persuasive tongue, a mind that borders on genius or insanity, and an incredible talent for getting into trouble and getting out of it. Maybe its brains, maybe its genius, or maybe its just plain luck. Or maybe a mixture of all three.

Thanks for continuing the cycle of negativity.

No really, it's appreciated. We enjoy having menial threads started just to say these things. I'm doing a jig right now.

Consider this.

So activity's in a slump right now. It always comes back eventually. What's more it's a message board. Why do people take it so seriously?

Chill.

EDIT: OK, I'm sorry for my tone in this thread. You just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong agenda.

As much as we need to encourage activity, please don't open threads about it.

Saw this a few days ago, came from here.

Looks like someone actually posted their own video on YouTube for a change since most of these are often posted by about 10 other people who found it, copied it and posted it.

This doesn't change my need to see it. I figure Spidey has the only comic book movie saga that hasn't really been fucked up yet, and continuously feel that it is my duty as an original fangirl to flock to this film when it arrives in theaters.

EDIT to answer PlagueTFK: It's supposed to be Venom and Carnage, though they listed the same woman who plays Aunt May as Carnage on IMDb for several weeks until IMDb finally swallowed their pride and changed it.

Looks like Harry is finally going to debut as Green Goblin, as well.
