Found these last night. I knew they were going to come out with cappuccino-flavored, but hadn't seen it yet. There's also mango salsa and wasabi ginger-flavored for the vote. Just grabbed these two. Bacon mac and cheese was the better of the two.

That's some first class fuckery right there. Hope your workmate's doing better.

Fuck that it started raining a couple nights ago... for a mere 10 minutes. Just enough to speckle the ground and make the next day, which was hot as hell, humid as fuck.

Fuck people who brag about making good connections while networking. You sound like whores when you say things like that. Glad to know you're only interested in what other people can do for you.

I like it, but I prefer the opening this way.

I think my one big complaint is the fact that Tuxedo Mask has so far only been seen wearing the tuxedo when he's supposed to be in disguise as Mamoru. Like he's just ALWAYS out and about in the tuxedo without the mask and top hat. The fuck?

So the Federal Trades Commission has that list you can register your phone number on. I'm sure most of the people on the board put their numbers on it.

Anyway, we've been noticing a high amount of telemarketers calling us during dinner time, despite our being on the FTC's list. There ARE certain kinds of people who can call you, whether you're on the list or not (sales calls from people you've done business with before, non-profit, etc), but these frequent callers do not fit those criteria.

It's gotten ridiculous, so we've taken to getting all of their information and reporting them. Don't know what good it's going to do, but they really are getting to the point of harassing now.

Anyone else going through this?

Finished "Flowers For Algernon." It was beautiful.

Reading "Song of the Vikings: Snorri and the Making of Norse Myths," because I requested it from the library for some reason along with a bunch of other books. It's proven quite interesting, at least these first 20 pages in.

I'm really not up on dragons. I mean, I like them and all, but I don't know types that actually come out of mythology or literature.

So... I took one of those personality quizzes regarding dragons and got a Khioneus or "snow dragon." So yeah... that. I like when things don't go the usual route, and I do actually prefer cold to hot. It fits.

Spinach sneaks well into lots of things, especially with cheese. You could throw it in scrambled eggs, salad, soups, mac 'n' cheese, pasta, pizza, you name it and spinach can figure its way in, wilted down or not.

It's one of those automated dialers that when you first pick up there's nothing and then once you're on the line for a few seconds a person on the other end starts talking to you.

We went on the Do Not Call List several years ago, and that seemed to stem the tide of telemarketers, but this year it's like they all went, "Ah, fuck it!" and started calling us anyway.

The other day we were all sitting down to dinner and got a call. Mom picked it up and this is how it went down:

Mom: "Hello?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable]
Mom: "What's your name?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable]
Mom: "Uh-huh... Keyki, is it?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable]
Mom: "And what is this in regards to?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable]
Mom: "Who are you calling for?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable]
Mom: "Paradise Builders? And where is that based?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable]
Mom: "Los Angeles?"
Telemarketer: [Indistinguishable] (Mom tells us right he was asking why she's asking all of these questions)
Mom: "Well, I'll tell you what Keyki. You shouldn't be calling us right now. We're sitting down to dinner and we're on the Do Not Call List. We're going to have to report you."
Telemarketer: [Audible click]
Mom: "Hahahaha. He hung up."

One major problem on our end is that we don't have caller ID, and to make a complaint you need the phone number that called you. Dialing *69 doesn't connect you with anybody, sadly.

Just made Scotch eggs for the first time. Used pork bratwurst from Trader Joe's that's been soaked in bock beer.

I shy away from talking about health, in general, but mostly when topics like cancer and diabetes pop up. Heaven help everyone should people start talking about diseases and medical conditions they've got.

I'm a HUGE hypochondriac, and while I'm trying to take better care of myself, I know that with Mom and Dad having cancer and diabetes, respectively, I know that I have to watch out for those things and I get jittery when those topics come up.

I feel like diabetes needs the same treatment AIDS is getting, wherein people are told to be less ashamed of it. Both can be the result of poor life choices (not always, obviously), and neither are as deadly as they used to be considered.

Well, glad to know she's better now.

Heading off to book club soon. Oh boy, I get to talk about the "The Secret History," which I disliked so very much.

Had a visit this past weekend from my cousin's son, and looks like we're getting a visit from Brandon's mom and grandma next weekend. Then our friend, Katie, is dropping in from NorCal near the end of the month. We get to briefly be a B&B again.

I think I suggested to Rosy something about reading books in a mausoleum and now I just want to do that.

Pork bacon. Turkey bacon tends to be loaded with preservatives and other things to give it a longer shelf life and such. Not that pork bacon is any healthier, but I'd rather eat the real thing in moderation.

My current favorite is Gringo Bandito, which I mix into ranch dressing for the best dip for my onion rings when we go out for burger night. Otherwise I like green sauces.

I do like sriracha, though I mostly only use it when we occasionally get Hawaiian food.

Not really a fan of Tapatio or Tabasco.

Good to see you, Spartan! It has been a while. Happy to hear you're employed and seeing someone.

Seems like crushes are totally normal, even in monogamous relationships. It's just a matter of whether or not you act on it or how much the third party affects you. Well, I'm sure you know, having experience in the poly world.

I used to use roughly the same two or three passwords for everything. Now they're all just mish-mashes of letters, capitals, and numbers. I should probably change them all again. Ugh...

I do occasionally forget, but if anything I get my Gmail and Facebook passwords mixed up. I'll keep getting the Invalid Password screen for Gmail and then go, "Oh right, that's Facebook's."

There's no way of knowing the exact number. I've got two books I'm waiting on from the library for my book club, and I'm #108 on the waiting list for October's ("All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr).

Then I'm in the middle of six books right now ("Pride and Prejudice and Zombies," "The Agony and the Ecstasy," "Songs of the Vikings: Snorri and the Making of Norse Myths," "The Unwritten" vol 9, "Albion" and the one I'm desperate to get through before the library takes it back since it's new and there's a long wait list for it: "Rogues" with stories by GRRM, Neil Gaiman, etc).

I have so many books on my mental list, it's ridiculous.

Bran and I were standing on the observation deck near the top of L.A.'s city hall when we found out. He was taking pictures with his phone when he got a notification from Becky about it. I was shocked and then just stared out at Grand Park with the Hollywood sign in the distance.

I'll be honest. My first comments were, "WHAT?! Well, someone just missed out on a lot of points."

I'm taking part in a tongue-in-cheek betting pool on a message board where at the beginning of the year we all come up with a list of 10 celebrities we think might die over the course of the year. We don't wish death on anyone and there's no real prize at the end. I'm currently in the lead because I had Casey Kasem, Shirley Temple and Eli Wallach on my list.

Anyway, it's just been a matter of remembering more and more things that he was in and going, "Holy crap, Peter Pan is dead."

Then I remembered all those death euphemisms he was reading off to the terminal patient in "Patch Adams" and felt a little more comforted:

And after that I went, "Holy hell, that's right, Philip Seymour Hoffman was in that TOO!"

It's been a process.

I admit, Robin Williams was one of my absolute favorite actors when I was young. He always seemed to pick these roles that made you laugh and cry and I really admired him. As I got older, he sort of got forced to the back of my mind as I saw him less and less in the media, taking on projects I was less interested in.

I'll probably end up marathoning my copies of "World According to Garp," "Dead Poets Society," "Hook," and "What Dreams May Come." Lots of death there.

I can't bring myself to watch "Patch Adams" these days, and Casey (gah...) never returned my copy of "Good Will Hunting." I also miss watching "Awakenings" and when Christina and I tried to watch "Popeye" we kept joking about how much blow everyone was on when they made it.

I vastly prefer actually being in a classroom. I've taken online courses (most recently was the zombie class UCI was doing), and it just doesn't feel right. I need a flesh and blood person, with whom I can relate and connect to teach me in their own words, answering my questions, and so on.

I suppose they work for autodidacts, who actually use the Web to acquire knowledge on their own, but online schooling is not for me.

Unless "cyber schools" means something else and I've totally missed the mark...
