I have not seen one, but yes, I do want to see it in person, along with a volcano erupting (sailing past Stromboli doesn't really count).
Not sure if I'd want to see those things are the same time, though. What's the strangest thing you've ever eaten (be it exotic animals, unusual ingredient combinations, etc)? (Last edited by Rogue on 07-09-14 12:53 PM) |

Magenta and black.
When's the last time you got into a shouting match with somebody? (I just did a half-hour ago when this guy tried to run a stop sign and T-bone my car). |

I should get me one of those too...
Last week was a busy one. Was a zombie for a shoot on Monday lasting until 4 in the morning on Tuesday. Then worked Labyrinth Masquerade on Friday and Saturday, after a couple days of working on my costume. I worked check-in, coat check, the hookah lounge, and Brandon did goblin wrangling. I had lots of fun, when I wasn't working, just walking around, dancing, and talking with lots of people. Our feet were so sore. Me and Brandon (who's wearing my Gallifrey One UNIT gear). And then on Sunday we went to the Magic Castle, which I managed to score invitations to so our old family friend, visiting from Australia, could go. I got to say the secret password to the owl and the bookcase opened (different bookcase from the one in the pic below), shouting song requests to the ghost playing the piano, and Dad got pulled up on stage during one of the performances. It was great. (Last edited by Rogue on 11-26-14 08:18 PM) |

Finished The Devil in the White City, but our reading group was postponed.
Started into Irving Stone's The Agony and the Ecstacy for no real reason other than it's been on my shelf for more than a decade now. I ended up using one of my Audible credits to get the audio book for it and I'm following along as it's playing. It's freaking 35 hours long. Eep. |

Yes and no. Corporations still had all sorts of crazy privileges, but yeah, not to the extent that now they count as people who can give as much money as they want to politicians and force their religious standards on others.
Remember when you didn't suddenly hear the cat about to vomit and then pick them up and run around the house looking for somewhere you feel more comfortable having them throw up (rather than on your bed, on your laptop, etc)? I just went through that moment of terror... |

Can't remember exactly which was more recent: one of the times Brandon and I were paired with a random couple during Lebowski Fest or this one birthday I had where Pat and Christina took us out for Indian food and then bowling.
What's your favorite play? |

Ringpops are definitely still out there. I've witnessed far too many proposals with them. Because, you know, EVERYONE'S original when they do that.
Remember those life-size dummies that kids were getting called My Buddy and Kid Sister? |

I spent it with terribly sore feet, standing my boots with no padding or arch support, working Labyrinth Masquerade (which is SOOOO MUCH BIGGGGER these days). So many stairs to have to climb now.
Anyway, my feet were so bad the toes on my left foot have had that pins and needles feeling all week and are only now starting to come out of it. At least the next night I just wore flip flops and people didn't seem to notice. Anyway, these were the boots I'd been wearing to steampunk cons and with my UNIT gear. I need to find some combat boots real bad. |

I have Stitch's Nook with all of the "Song of Ice and Fire" books loaded on it, but I've never used it. I don't like using these things, frankly. I like having a book in my hand and being able to leaf through to other pages and back in an instant, seeing if this character is the one from earlier and other references, etc.
What's something you consider thoroughly overrated? |

I can't stand that I'm not seeing most of the things people are posting, for one reason or another.
I've also had to take to un-liking pages because their posts are so stupid, or they outright post spoilers to things (we're talking more than "Game of Thrones" here). |

Laaaaame.
Aren't you running several games? Where do you find the time? Fuck that Latino guy in the beat-up blue van who nearly hit my car after running a stop sign and then when I kept mouthing, "You have a stop," started shouting, "Well, you gotta stop too, BITCH!" I had stopped for the red car ahead of him. I shouted back, calling him an asshole, and immediately felt embarrassed for doing so. I really hate giving in to fighting, especially when there are bystanders to see it. Fuck the guy in the truck who swerved to get behind Brandon and me on the highway, coming home from Shakespeare last night, who immediately started tailgating us and throwing up his highbeams. Bran started slowing down to a crawl and the guy was still behind us (I didn't condone this, by the way), and then the guy started tailgating and following us as we switched lanes. Eventually the guy got off, but I started to wonder if he was going to follow us home. |

And thank you, everyone, who complimented my costume and how I looked those nights. Normally no one talks to me at that event, though I haven't gone since 2007. Thanks for scoring us an invite to the Magic Castle, Brandon. Yolanda appreciated it. Thanks, Carrie and Maddie, for coming to visit. We might be using your floor in a couple months. |

Currently watching a scarab that keeps trying to fly into my window, but failing. Tiki has finally taken notice, but is now busy trying to return to her nap.
Otherwise, finally caught up on Legend of Korra. Bran hadn't seen the three newest episodes and I only needed to see the last of those. Happy this show's back for the summer. |

Originally posted by Cteno Indeed, I hate these click-bait articles. I think my least favorite is "BLAH BLAH BLAH, but what happens next will amaze you" or something to that degree. Who thought these were great headlines and why is EVERYONE copying them? EDIT: Holy fuck, just looked at how many pages I "like" and it's over 2,000. Remedying this now and going on an un-liking spree. My god, there's so much crap I don't even remember hitting the like button for, and that I don't even see posts for these days despite them putting up new posts constantly. I'll eventually own a PS3. A PS4 someday. *Sigh*
Which movie's better: Galaxy Quest or Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan? (Last edited by Rogue on 07-12-14 12:30 PM) |

UPDATE TIME. Because, yeah, this is always fun. *softly weeps*
So... about a year ago, my aunt pulled up stakes and moved to Las Vegas without telling us. She still collects the social security money, even living in another state. A complaint was filed with SS against her. My parents and I (nor Brandon) weren't the ones who filed it, BUT we're getting the blame for it all the same with my uncle calling my mom a traitor because he's now alerting us that he gets about $300 or so from that money a month, under the table. Nothing had come of that complaint, and from what we understand, it's been closed. This is all old news. New news, however... Yesterday my mom received a notice from Kaiser Permanente saying they have discontinued Lola's Seroquel prescription due to her being put on sedatives. Mom was confused and called the home, only to be informed that since May Lola has been put on hospice care. We were never informed of this, but the heavy sedating explains why she's so very out of it when we've had the opportunities to visit. It was like night and day -- she went from combative and walking on her own to not moving much and staring blankly at everyone when she's awake. It's not KP who prescribed the sedatives, but rather the home's supposed in-house doctor. We came by unannounced yesterday to find the living room area (which usually has some of the residents sitting in the armchairs, reading, etc) completely deserted. As we walked to Lola's room, we noticed everyone is now being kept in big, padded hospital beds and they all look sedated and knocked out asleep. We selected this place because it was more like the residents were staying in someone's house and not a hospital with nurses treating them like they're all at death's door and making them sleep all day. We're not sure what to make of this, right now. We're curious to know if my uncle signed any paperwork OK'ing this. Supposedly by her being on hospice care, she's receiving free diapers and other things she wasn't getting before, which means less money my uncle has to front from the house/social security and that can all go straight to his pocket. Lola was in her bed, with a male nurse standing over her bed and he wouldn't leave us alone with her (I happened to bring a camera, which I intended to take pictures with in case they might be needed later). She looks to have lost so much weight, she nearly skeletal. My dad wants to talk with the owner, since this seems like it was unilateral decision to force everyone into a sleep state at all times. If we find out that my uncle did indeed sign papers to put her like this, we're going to reach out to him next. (Last edited by Rogue on 07-13-14 02:03 AM) |

We spent a couple hours at the home on Saturday to protest the sedation. A few people's family members came by and didn't seem to mind that their loved ones were out cold. In fact one woman came in to yell at the people on duty saying they aren't checking on her father enough because when she came to see her father he was sitting at the edge of his bed trying to get up and was practically commanding them to sedate him.
I understand worrying about old people being fall risks, but this is all very unsettling. As a person who loves to wander around and not be cooped up is this what I have to look forward to should I get old? |

I'm not going to bother posting a source. A plane, traveling from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur went down in Ukraine. Reports at the moment are conflicting on whether it crashed or was shot down. I'm rather devastated. I keep imagining these people's families upset. I went through this with the Korean ferry. |
