I know not all of us are on Facebook or are as addicted to it as others, but I realized I check it an awful lot when it suddenly wasn't working for me a couple days ago. I think I was trying to post something and found myself agitated that it wouldn't post NOW.
Anyway, say Facebook goes down. It's been doing rather poorly trading publicly since they debuted on the stock market last month, and there are all these stories about teens and college students abandoning it already. If the site just disappeared from the Internet, what would be your reaction? What site would you go to to fill the void? What are your thoughts? |

I guess I'm one of the few people who doesn't use Google+ or Twitter and never had a MySpace.
I was on LiveJournal for a few years there. It's still up, but far from active these days. Amusingly I keep getting "Server not found" pages right now when trying to load Facebook. In all honesty, I think I'd get pretty upset if Facebook went down without notice. I've got A LOT of photos up along with all of the updates I've put on the timeline to keep track of events in my life. It's also been my way of keeping track of blogs, news sites, things and people I'm a fan of, and so on. Not to mention events, friends, and everything else. It's become something of an organizer. Damn it. Anyway, if FB did just disappear and another, better site hadn't already been developed yet, I might end up getting a Google+ account or something. |

Originally posted by Astrophel That was pretty much why I never got on MySpace (though it was also my opposition to the idea of starting one of those shittily-coded pages, dedicated to people starting their own fan pages for how awesome they figured they were, and that had music automatically starting on every page and so on). I think I made the leap to Facebook when I realized how many things you could hide from people, and how many people you could block from finding you, searching for you, and so on. There's just so much more I liked about it in terms of security. Like Katana said, it's also a way bosses can search for you and find your shit. I'm extra cautious about posting really embarrassing or inappropriate things on there, though it's kind of pissing me off how many people will tag me at the most random places. People don't need to know I was at McDonald's with 3 other people with just the phrase "Nuggets!" or whatever, especially when I should have been doing something more productive. My main motivation in getting an FB was while I was working on my university's paper and it sort of made me feel like I was bonding with the people with whom I worked. The damn thing grew on me. I actually have FB to thank for getting to contact people I never thought I would -- not just old friends I hadn't seen in forever, but people whose work I admired and so on. It's how I've gotten to be an extra for people's productions, gotten to take free knife-throwing lessons from this guy who teaches it to various celebrities when they need to learn primitive weaponry for movies and other things, how I've been able to ask semi-famous people questions and get quick answers. Arguing in what way? Was she wanting to and he wasn't or something?
|
You're right about the complications. Unplanned pregnancies almost always are a tangled -- I don't want to say "web" because that implies there was some design and planning in this -- mess... yeah that's the word. They're a mess of emotions and legal battles filled with broken and unfulfilled promises and half-baked plans to solve problems that arise. With any luck the father will step in and try to be a man about the situation (though I've only occasionally seen this happen for more than the first month or so of the baby's life before he re-settles into his old ways and goes a-beaver huntin' again). Is your sis still thinking adoption?

I was wondering where some of these characters came from, especially since I've been seeing the figures at conventions.

Not to mention, you know, this thing:

Just had to chew some guy out in an e-mail.
|
Brandon and I are on a very sparse cell phone plan with my parents. I have texting diabled on my phone, but my dad forgot to disable it on Brandon's. His argument for removing it is because he was sick of paying for all the people who kept texting me despite my requests that they don't. Honestly, I don't understand why people can't just CALL each other or send an e-mail. Anyway, this promoter's been texting Brandon, two, three, sometimes four times consecutively. Brandon's asked him several times to stop. Today, Brandon's phone just kept making the new text message sound over and over and over again. I told him to give me this guy's e-mail addy, and I quickly punched this out.
Yeah, fuck this guy. He's only managed to get the band hooked up with a gig at this shit bar in Rosemead with shit sound. He's not worth keeping as a professional contact.

If you have Trader Joe's they've got a cereal that accounts for like 45% of your daily fiber requirement in one bowl, and it's like $2.99 a box.
|
Anyway, I've been looking at things like the master cleansing diet where you just drink lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper mixed in water and you drink that whenever you're hungry and that's it. Eep.

Honestly season 8 was the weakest season. They knew the show was ending from the beginning, it was self-inflicted. It would have been better if they'd attempted to tie up more with the other characters.
|
Instead they added a couple new characters with whom you never develop a rapport -- well, Park was at least interesting. Adams was just a pretty, rich girl who edged more on being a bitch than a do-gooder like Cameron. And sadly the decline can all be chalked up to Huddy -- when that shipping came to fruition and the show began to revolve around it, people stopped watching. My biggest complaint regarding the finale would be how they were given an extra hour of television and they used it to talk with catering and all the little departments as this behind-the-scenes extra. I would have been happier if it was used as an extra hour for the finale. Maybe they could have written a story that was more intense and made more sense. Eh. (restricted) |

Well for a season finale that had to tie A LOT up since they took a whole episode to do the Battle of Blackwater Bay (as it should have been), it was pretty good.
|
I even actually began to like Daenerys again. Spoiler:
Truth be told, a good chunk of the like and new respect stems from my hatred for her former handmaiden, Doreah. I just couldn't stand that character. And now she's DEAD! AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And in one of the worst ways possible, effectively being buried alive! MWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!! Question regarding Theon, though. Spoiler: I figured the Ironborn were taking him home, but some of the episode descriptions I've been reading are saying they left him behind. I'm confused. This just in the leather, meat puppet mom's case just got upgraded to grand jury.
|
She was supposed to have a child endangerment hearing today, but it's been canceled due to the grand jury flag being waved. In all honesty, I more doubt than believe that she had her daughter put on a tanning bed, but for some reason seeing someone this stupid being dragged through the court system is just hilarious to watch.

Considering what happened with the e-mail address of one of our mods without her consent, it's amusing that you want us to hide them.

Otherwise, thank you for the suggestions. (restricted) |

No imagination. What. So. Ever.

Brandon's responsible for this picture. We both stopped to look at the figures and he realized he could take pictures of the girls at angles this. (restricted) | |
