No, it's real, and it's fucking sad. This image is one of the ones going around: (Last edited by Rogue on 10-06-11 05:05 PM) |

I just saw a TV spot for this movie, and I am definitely on board for seeing it when it comes out. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but I have been a fan of groups like the Marlovians and others. The theory that Marlowe, a former secret agent for the Queen, faked his own death, exiled himself, and wrote the plays with Shakespeare's name on them is this really romanticized idea I like, especially when you consider how many of the heroes in Shakespeare's plays are people far from home who miss their land so much. It's just sort of amazing that you can easily disprove that the Bard wrote all of these works himself. His effigy is already a massive question mark. They list him as a merchant and not writer or playwright. Anyway, movie! This one addresses the theory that Shakespeare's plays may have been written by Edward de Vere, 17th Earl of Oxford. I'ma see it! (Last edited by Rogue on 10-06-11 09:19 PM) |

Kansas. Home of the Westboro Baptist Church and teaching Intelligent Design. Now, apparently, legalized wife-beating.

OBVIOUSLY, California's not perfect. But other than Xeo, I can't think of anything that redeems that rectangle of land. (Last edited by Rogue on 10-07-11 02:43 AM) |

Originally posted by Sorcha Rohan I'm not surprised. They've turned EVERYTHING into a form of profit. They gotta pay for all these plane tickets to picket around the country somehow. I mean, they keep managing to counter-sue people and WIN, but that's what comes from them all being lawyer-inclined what with the family law firm and all. Still, that explanation... that's... that's hilarious. |

Originally posted by Elara Yeah, that's what I figured they were doing. Honestly, I'm not entirely clear on why the NoH8 folks are having people duct-tape their mouths to begin with. "They want to silence us! So we did it to ourselves!!!" |

Originally posted by Elara I'm still confused. Most of them are still covering their mouths or just standing there. I don't know what they're showing other than that they are illustrating that they've silenced themselves. I looked it up on Wikipedia (which does have that one photograph that does express showing rather than telling), but it doesn't explain it. I dunno. I mean, I was all against Prop 8, myself, but once again we're talking all those people who threw a fit about politics, but didn't vote (I'm staring right at you, American youth). EDIT: I just remembered. When I went to that big, 2,000-strong against Westboro counter-picket in Long Beach, one of the counter-protest organizers started walking around passing out duct tape shouting, "They want to silence us! And we want to show them we can't be silenced, so put the tape over your mouths!!" Yeah... uh... huh? Maybe this is all too existential for me. (Last edited by Rogue on 10-09-11 01:46 AM) |

Been a little inactive. Was slave labor for the past couple days cleaning a house, running errands, and decorating for a baby shower. Whew.
So yeah... |

Listening to the new Patton Oswalt album on Spotify. I'm only a fourth of the way through it, and I'm dying.

I'm so sorry, Bitmap. Death is almost always unexpected and unfair.
I hope your Aunt Kathy lived a happy, though sadly shortened, life. |

A few of my Facebook friends have been sharing this image around. It's worth a chuckle.
The caption that went with this image went: "Just in case you forgot what traditional marriage was......" |

Looks like I'll continue to be inactive for one reason or another this month.

My friend came up with a drink he calls "Monkey Spooge." You take a shot glass, pour in 99 Bananas (99 proof as opposed to Jager's 70 proof) and drop in some Irish Cream. It's so fucking tasty and enough of them would fuck you up.

I'm actually kinda sad with how little others are participating in this. Could this be the last year for the annual BCAM thread?

Old coins are awesome. When my dad's friend passed away, with my dad pretty much getting everything, we found jars upon jars of coins and rolls of them. I didn't realize it until I took them to the Coinstar, but the rolls were all either buffalo nickels, steel pennies, Mercury dimes, wheat-back pennies, or the occasional Indian head penny.
The guy was a Nisei. His family lost EVERYTHING during the war when they were interned with the other Japanese-Americans. When he got out, he held onto everything. I just had a Felicia Day morning, watching the season finale of The Guild on Zune and the premiere of Dragon Age: Redemption (Last edited by Rogue on 10-11-11 04:34 PM) |

This version isn't quite the same as the one of his album, but Patton Oswalt's bit about Sky Cake made me laugh so hard, and now I can't help but think of the WBC and go, "Oh Sky Cake..."
