In-house ads, I suppose. When they need to kill some time, they just drop those in. It's like buying a newspaper and seeing ads for their Facebook and Twitter or whatever. It's to kill space they can't figure out how to fill.

What non-typical animal (real, not fictional) would you love to have as a pet? As in not a dog, cat, fish, bird, etc.

No, but I saw clips of it on the news. ABC7's business analyst was extremely cynical, saying Obama was pretty much promising the continuation of the status quo.

FUCK.

I literally spent the past couple of days filling out one of those ridiculously long survey memes for that thread full of them in Vulkimerica (or whatever we're calling Crazy now). I put way too much thought into it and... you guessed it--it's GONE. It was LOOOOOONG, and I was almost done. For some reason the damn thing just cleared.

Not sure what happened, but it seems whenever I turn away from the board while there's a thread in progress it, if you hit 'Back' by mistake or whatever, it all disappears and can't be recovered. Thing is I didn't hit back. I didn't hit anything. Everything I typed just disappeared.

Fuck fuck fuck.

I didn't watch it, but I watched snippets of it on the news. Everyone's fairly cynical about it, at least seems like every newsanchor in Los Angeles is. As some put it, it's just the continuation of the status quo.

Seems like no matter what he sides with these red-stated Congressman will almost always take the opposing side just to block progress and make sure everyone thinks he's not accomplishing anything.

I've got nothing but time right now. Well, until I head out tonight some time.

Mildly amusing note: my library has the board blocked as a site I can visit while using their computers. I used to be able to access the board. Someone must have noticed the traffic, looked at the board, and decided it wasn't wholesome and educational enough.

Dinner tonight is salmon burgers. I think I'll just bullshit that I'm not hungry or something. I mean, I had a big lunch: two and a half slices of pizza and a salad, since Pavilion's was selling the family size pizzas for $5.

Maybe I just won't eat.

I still need to see Paul, especially since I'm an incredibly huge fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, most especially when they do films together.

So... I finally saw The Social Network. It didn't suck. In fact, I'd venture to say that it actually was pretty good. It doesn't make me like or hate Mark Zuckerberg.

Actually it makes me like Jesse Eisenberg. I didn't really dig him in Zombieland, but he actually transforms. I'd come to think of him as another Michael Cera, but in truth, Michael Cera tends to play himself whenever he does most films, while Jesse actually becomes someone else.

Granted, but he's a zombie... and well, it's... not good. Like now he has this insatiable hunger for human flesh, which is a nightmare when you guys are at family gatherings, let me tell you.

He lost the ability to have coherent conversations, always garbling about brains now. And well, since his flesh is still sort of rotting as being one of the walking dead, a simple shower isn't enough any more.

And with his arms always extending in front of him, he's just constantly knocking things off shelves. That just won't do, right?

I wish Amanda Fucking Palmer would skip over Despair cycling through the Endless in her appearance (right now she seems to be Desire).

They probably do. I assume the lies have to do with this now past relationship?

I don't know what to say other than I'm sorry people can be little shits sometimes. I mean, do your real friends believe the shit? If not, then ignore the rest of it, drop the other people, and move on. I'm sorry, that's just the way it is. There's no sitting everyone you know in a conference room and telling them what's what. Thank you, Los Angeles, for being downright awesome with your free museums, your mostly sunny weather all year long, your never-ending supply of things to discover, your real people (which honestly far outweigh the plastics), your vastly diverse array of culture, food, entertainment, art, and love.

Thank you, Long Beach, for being there when I don't have the gas money to drive 20 some odd miles to the Observatory.

Thank you, Griffith J. Griffith, for donating the land to make Griffith Park, and for looking in that telescope at Mount Wilson, being moved by the heavens, and insisting Southern California continue to be the Alexandria of space exploration and discovery and put forth the money and will to build Griffith Observatory.

Thank you, Griffith Observatory, for naming your expensive eatery The Cafe at the End of the Universe.

Thank you, cafe in the woods of Griffith Park, for always having lavender vanilla cookies. They always make me feel at home when I've been away from L.A. and return.

Thank you, Johnny Reb's, for having the best mac 'n' cheese in the world.

Thank you, Fresh & Easy, for having good food for cheap and making Pavilion's across the street look especially bad.

Thank you, Los Angeles area philanthropists, for donating so much money into our area so we can have theaters, parks, museums (and even free days at museums), schools, and everything else that might not have a name stamped on it.

Thank you, Phyllis Patterson, for creating the mondern Renaissance faire back in the '60s, right here in Southern California.

Thank you, Amanda Palmer, for marrying Neil Gaiman and being so damn cute together.

I think seeing something in movies or on TV is the main reason why most people pick up certain hobbies or learn anything about anything these days.

So it's sort of raining, off-and-on, and we were supposed to have a garage sale today at my grandmother's house. Yeah, that's not going to happen. At least, I doubt anyone will show up.

I'm still laying in bed with my laptop, since Brandon rarely gets up before 11 these days. Our cats are in bed with us this morning, and to stave off boredom I keep taking pictures of the cats and Brandon sleeping.

I'm happy that's it's raining and therefore the skies will probably be clear when it's gone. It's been really hazy this summer. Awww, pollution.

Dante Magus? Haven't heard that name in a while, assuming it's that one to which you are referring. What part of Arizona, do you know?

Well, the news is reporting the fires are slowing in Texas, so that's good.

We've been having our own fires here, but such is living in an arid climate by the beach. I'll take wildfires and earthquakes over hurricanes, floods, tornadoes, cancer from granitic radiation, and Floridians any day.

Wildfires are, for the most part, natural here (although much damage is due to people not knowing how to clear chaparral). We've even got wildflowers that only grow after a burn, their seeds lying dormant in the soil until the fire triggers their growth. Pretty nifty of nature.
