Fuck the way everything's been going lately. I feel emotionally compromised about everything. There's just so much stress over school, money, watching my grandmother, my internship, money, being sick, that cat, money...

On top of this, we've got an Arizona trip coming up in early March for a convention and Renaissance faire and all these people are trying to get in on it. I mean, it was cool and all when it was my best friend (who now can't make it), but now we've got random people hitting us up.

I mean, it would be cool to have friends there, but these are mostly people who want a free ride out and back.

Since my boyfriend got a library card with our city and I finally got mine renewed we've been borrowing DVDs like crazy.

We've watched Cinderfella, Where the Wild Things Are, The Duchess, Year One, The Rocker, Beavis and Butthead Do America, Across the Universe (seen it already), Rocky IV (seen it already), Wrath of Khan (seen it already), You Don't Mess with the Zohan, Night at the Museum (seen most of it before), a Canadian production of Pirates of Penzance, and the 1970s King Kong starring The Dude.

The last thing we watched was The Fantastic Mr. Fox. Now that's a great movie. I need to get my own copy of it.

That stupid computer is just not copy/pasting things like it used to.

Link to Aljazeera: http://english.aljazeera.net/news/middleeast/2011/02/2011215205829237551.html

Hold on, let me look for that thing I previously posted. It had members of parliament chanting for the death of the protesters.

Can't find it. CNN has a similar video.

Seems like it's going to rain this week. I hope so.

I showed up to work today wearing a hoodie under my coat and my boss gave me one of those, "Are you crazy?" looks and asked if it was going to rain. Seriously... didn't know it was going to. I just wear layers normally.

Since I only had one class today, I spent the better part of it watching movies borrowed from the library. Watched The Losers, Fantastic Voyage, Be Kind Rewind, and Cars.

Be Kind Rewind was probably the most enjoyable.

So since last post watched Secret of Kells and Wong Kar Wai's In the Mood for Love.

Both movies were really pretty to look at, but the stories left more to be desired.

Secret of Kells had GREAT animation, but I would have liked the story to be longer.

In the Mood for Love started out well, but it's like they reached the conflict, then there's no climax or resolution. It just sort of drifts toward the credits very slowly.

Fuck whoever stole Brandon's identity and paid over $500 for leather goods in Guatemala, which of course caused him to overdraft on a few things.

Thankfully, his credit union froze his card, but then they told him to go to a branch to sort it out. The branch then said there's nothing they can do about it until Sunday, when they're close, as that's when that payment will finally go through.

So yay once again having no money for another weekend. I don't think I'm even getting paid to watch my grandmother for this weekend (since my aunt took her to Vegas and dumped her off with a second cousin so she could run around gambling with my grandmother's money).

So, yeah, all that stuff in parentheses in that last paragraph? FUCK THAT.

Why hello, misogynist miscarriage laws, we meet again.

I think it was Virginia that was trying to put in place a law stating that if you miscarry and don't report it within a certain amount of time you'll go to jail.

I mean I see what they're trying to do, but it's horribly insensitive.

Thanks, Katana. It's great getting the puzzle piece laid down in order to graduate.

Speaking of graduating, my freaking transcripts keep dropping classes off of those counting toward my majors. Thankfully, the American Studies department is at bat for me, while the College of Communications keeps trying to strike me out.

Anyway, this weekend SHALL BE EPIC.

Thursday, we're leaving for Arizona right after I get out of work. Friday and Saturday we're at a wild west steampunk convention. Then Sunday we're going to the Renaissance faire in Apache Junction -- my absolute favorite faire.

AND heading out to the AZ soon. Excited...

Seems that was also a point in the last post here.

Indeed! I practically grew up watching it. My mom and cousins were really into it when I was a kid. In fact, I have the VHS box set on the desk next to me right now.

Just finished watching Land of the Lost. It's so underrated. I guess people were expecting a direct adaptation to the TV show and that it'd be kid-friendly.

If you like Eastbound and Down, it's hysterical.

Counting down the hours 'til I can leave work and head for Arizona. Right now I'm bored out of my mind at work. I'm supposed to be researching stories to write, but my boss is at a seminar somewhere else and won't be in today at all and my news briefs and everything are locked in her office.

So, I'm pretty much just listening to iTunes on my laptop at a ridiculously low volume since no one ever plays music in this office and it's always deathly quiet and I'd rather not get in trouble for playing pirate rock songs about fucking loose women and killing giant squid.

So yeah, steampunk convention this weekend. Excited. Even more excited about the Apache Junction renaissance faire. Sat up last night making skirts for new garb.

I'll be fairly inactive this weekend. I'll probably be more active at night when I can get to my laptop.

Since we're all older now and we've all been exposed to enough new things over the years, and since most of us can't pick a single film that we absolutely love above all others, what are your top 10 favorite films?

BRB with my list.

So what's the bee's knees for the rest of you? Feel free to elaborate on any and all of them.

Now that I've got some time to finally sit and stare at the board, here's my list (no particular order):

1. Kung Fu Hustle - In the last few years whenever I've had to answer what is my absolute favorite film, I just answer with this. It utilizes so many aspects of film that I love. It's a bitch slap of awesome.

2. Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead

3. Battle Royale

4. Hedwig and the Angry Inch - Once you evolve past Rocky Horror, you come to this film, which I actually discovered in high school, just before I started going to Rocky. Hedwig is my favorite rock musical; I've seen it on stage and know all the words to all the songs.

5. Harold and Maude - If I'm ever allowed wiggle room to include 2 or 3 favorite films when people ask, this one comes right after KFH.

6. Cannibal! The Musical - Between Hedwig and Cannibal, this might be my favorite musical above all.

7. The Indiana Jones TRILOGY - If I had to pick one, it'd probably be "Temple of Doom" because it's the first movie I can remember seeing in my life. It has a warm and squishy place in my cold, black heart. The Indy movies were a massive part of my early life. My parents went to see "Temple of Doom" when my mom was pregnant with me, and the moment "Last Crusade" came out, they brought me along to see it. In fact, last night Brandon and I were at this pizza place in Arizona that has this massive pipe organ that this guy plays while you eat and he played Indy's theme song from "Raiders of the Lost Ark." No joke, I damn near cried.

8. The Big Lebowski

9. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid

10. Iceman - Even though I've only seen this one a couple times, it's earned a place on this list. It's f-ing beautiful, especially if you're an anthropology geek (if Krippendorf's Tribe could be packaged with it in a boxset or something I'd be all over that).

Honorable mentions (honestly, picking 10 was also pretty hard for me and these were battling for placement): Back to the Future Part 3, The Graduate, Tombstone, The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, Krippendorf's Tribe, Kill Bill, The Lion King, Sin City, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Amelie, X2: X-Men United, Foxy Brown, and Grindhouse.

I know, right?

Obviously the first in their trilogies are cinematic masterpieces, but there's always been something sentimental about "Temple of Doom" for me.

Now, "Back to the Future Part 3"? Yeah, I love that one mostest. It's a western, it's steampunk, and the story is actually about the scientist who built the time machine and not this pip-squeak kid and his annoying family problems.

Yeah, I was in Arizona this past weekend and it was insanely windy. On Monday the sky was brown from all the dust.

If there is a meaning, it's to experience as much as possible in order to gain perfection of the soul. You know, and mate as much as possible - the reason for living for most living things on this planet.

What's the longest you've gone without sleep and what was the reason?
