I don't even like ice in my soda, so definitely not my milk (which I don't even drink that often anyway).

There are times when the names people give their kids are cool and innovative (while still tasteful), but then there are times when it's simply ridiculous.

Auctioning off the right to name your child on E*Bay would probably not be the way to go.

Who the hell puts ice in beer?!

Kind of reminds me when my parents owned a restaurant and my mom was still somewhat new to the United States. She used to wait tables off and on and kept asking people if they wanted straws with their beer.

Seriously, though. Ice in beer? I'm having enough trouble thinking on the ice in milk.

Although there is a restaurant here in L.A. that serves "hopsicles," which is frozen beer on a stick.

My list is odd, but then--it's my list.

Now if I don't count any of my burned CDs with things that I could only find in download form (my Dr. Demento stuff, along with songs from anime/TV/movies):

Whiskey Business -- Poxy Boggards

Drunken Lullabies -- Flogging Molly

Sing Loud, Sing Proud -- Dropkick Murpheys

Turn the Radio Off -- Reel Big Fish

Hedwig and the Angry Inch soundtrack

Who's number is that?

It's the White House's switchboard.

Supposedly by calling it you can get in contact with the Bush's voicemail and leave him a message if you ask to be connected with it.

I don't know. After spending all morning with the news on and hearing incessantly about the Scooter Libby pardoning (well, it was pretty much every but actually pardoning), I really don't know what to say about Mr. Bush.

So... yeah. There's his number. Sort of.

I gotta go with some old favorites of mine that are relatively cliche.

Tainted Donuts:

Wizard of Ozaka:

Hale's Mom:

Cloud is Xena (OK, so this really isn't a true AMV, but being a huge Xena fan this always makes me giggle. Considering how things were done this one is just great):

A little site called White House.gov: http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/

I'd read in a blog today about someone in L.A. calling it and getting Bush's voicemail and leaving a rant about the whole pardoning Libby issue.

I somehow doubt it really goes straight to him, but hey, if you really want to reach him I'm sure there are ways. Whether he wants to listen to you or not, well, that's a completely different ball of wax.

Posted on 07-04-07 05:19 PM, in Sylvia Browne -- Montel's favorite psychic guest -- predicts the next 100 years Link
If you've ever gotten stuck watching daytime television, you might have caught the Montel Williams show with this older woman on who supposedly talks with the dead and sees the future and all that without any effort.

Many come to the show with difficult questions and she answers them bluntly and quickly without any other words or explanations than what she says, making the person asking feel alienated and left with nothing else to say or think.

Example of a typical episode:

Woman #1: My husband died last year. Is his soul all right?
Sylvia: He's in heaven.
Montel: Next question!

Woman #2: My daughter has her heart set on going to college...
Sylvia: She'll go to Harvard.
Montel: Next question!

Woman #3: My son disappeared 5 years ago, where is he?
Sylvia: He drowned 4 years ago.
Montel: Next question!

So Sylvia, who's been making oodles and oodles of money on her books and appearances on Montel has these predictions for the next 100 years:

2000 Predictions

1. Eradication of cancer as we know it, using sound waves, photo sensitive drug therapy, and "self-addicting" cells.
2. Robotic houses, controlled by computerized switchboard.
3. Electrical cars with flotation ability for water travel to bypass freeways.
4. Houses made from pressed paper with plastic coatings; interchangeable walls
5. Separate body parts cloned for organ transplants; not an entire body.
6. New form of painless tooth extraction, using a type of suction, with immediate replacement of new tooth.
7. Diagnostic chambers which map the body's electrical balance to predict health problems before the come.
8. Cylindrical rooms in which people enter to see an automated projection of the clothing and color that would look good on them; select what you want, take your measurements, then two days later pick up the goods.
9. Third floor of houses have rollback roofs to allow Hovercrafts to come and go.
10. No more surgery with knives. Some type of molecular ionization device that knows how to take out the afflicted cells then seal the wound without a single scar.
11. Remolding of the whole face structure, to duplicate any look that you wish.
12. New exercise equipment that you sit or stand in, and it literally stimulates your muscles with electricity to achieve the same effect as physical exercise.
13. Babies will be birthed in water all the time, with music, incense, and green and lavender lights.
14. People will be able to simply "walk out" of their bodies upon death.
15. There will be no US Presidency; our government will go back to a Greek Senate structure.
16. No longer a single Pope, but a triumvirate of Popes, each assigned to a geographic collection of Catholics.
17. Peace in the Middle East will prevail by 2050.
18. West Coast goes under in 2026. Parts of the East Coast also get inundated. Tsunamis will wipe out a large portion of Japan. The Hawaiian Islands will have upheaval and be the site of a large new landmass.
19. Atlantis will begin to show itself by 2023 and be fully visible by 2026.
20. After 2050, the "Age of the Messiah" is upon us. People turn totally toward Spirituality, peace will rein for a long time. People will return to community living, loving each other, and working together.
21. Treatment for depression and mood disorders will come from a "control chamber" that emits sensory stimulation gently to the brain, including certain smells, which will elevate mood.
22. Medicine in pill form goes away; instead we have air-injected delivery through the skin.
23. Atomic batteries will run cars.
24. No more gas propelled rockets in space; we will have nuclear powered cylinder shaped objects that travel everywhere.
25. A moon base is created for people to visit, and as a stopping place for further trips.
26. By 2055 most people will live in domed cities due to poor atmospheric conditions.
27. A virtual reality headset will stimulate brain waves so people can learn whole libraries of information within hours.
28. Giant fruits and vegetables will be grown in hothouse environments. The nutrients will be synthesized into a highly condensed injection.
29. Proteins are developed without animal meat, very powerful, builds immune system.
30. Addictions will be a thing of the past because of a brain stimulation, which eradicates all addictions, with no side effects.
31. Execution for the death penalty will become a complete vaporization of the body.
32. No separate governments, one planetary government will form.
33. Great earth changes will occur and germ warfare will be used before the world finds peace. But eventually from all of the bad comes good. The pendulum will swing back to humanity and love.
34. No world war is coming, but lots of civil disorder and small skirmishes. No nuclear holocaust.
35. Peace will last from 2050 until 2100, and then I see nothing beyond, which could mean "the end will come like a thief in the night."
36. Toward the end of things, the veil separating our world from The Other Side will thin, so much so that most people will see decease loved ones and speak with their Spirit Guides.
37. There will be many false prophets that rise up proclaiming to be Jesus on Earth, and try to lead people astray. We are already seeing this in the big rise of occultism.
38. People will again find Spirituality, not so much in organized religion, but in the spiritual brotherhood of coming together and finding their Temple within.
39. Four more comets will pass by before the end times.
40. Aliens will begin to show themselves in the year 2010, they will not harm us, they simply want to see what we are doing to this planet. They will teach us how to use anti-gravity devices again, such as they did for the pyramids.

Now Sylvia has been caught a few times:

Now you can take the list with a grain of salt, maybe it's at least good for a laugh. Either way, people who prey on the misery of others are evil.

EDIT: I remembered seeing this these before and just re-found them now:

When Zoso read over the list after I posted it he mentioned that she must be watching too much Star Trek, Stargate SG-1, and otherwise just being stupid.

It's somewhat amusing what Star Trek has made up that have managed to become real in the future (seriously, Star Trek's influenced a lot of modern science or at least been really good at illustrating concepts that man had only just discovered), so she probably looked at the possibility of what they've got becoming real and went off of that.

It's kind of odd. The things stuck in my head tend to change frequently and then not at all.

Throughout the last weekend at Anime Expo, I kept singing Sound & Fury's Morals Song to myself, specifically the line "Lawn darts, they're not for tossing. Sisters, don't you go bossing them... when 'it's that time.'"

Next weekend going to Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade with WhiteRose and GuardianOni. Yay!

Still need to see what's going on with Lebowskifest and LosCon. Then school's acomin' next month.

No rest for the wicked.

OK, this is cheating since it's glam rock... but Justin Hawkins formerly of The Darkness:

Zoso knows a shitload of ones I could post, but I'll have to wait until he gets home. The other day, he played one that started out with what sounded like a guitar hitting a really high note for a long time and then as it tapered off, it was really the singer's voice.

I'll have to get that one from him.

I'd share my drinking stories, but it's more interesting to look at the pictures (mostly from the Rocky cast parties).

Thankfully none of me.

Well Xeo, you've just had one of many preludes to your 20s. Cheers! Drinking/intoxicant parties tend to either bring people together or completely and utterly fuck things up, so do be wary about that in the future.

P.S. Bud Light does suck. And so does Coors. American beer is like having sex in a canoe--it's fucking near water.

I actually had those same suspicions as I began to dial the number the other day. It's a brave new world...

While I've been a confirmed moderate for quite some time, and slowly but surely drifting left, this echoes many of my feelings lately:

Ah, then I invite anyone who sees that here to comment on it in the thread posted above.

I don't know how or why, but these past few years have been rather dreamlike, as though these things are just too fictitious. They simply don't seem real.

Anyway... I, as an American, feel completely and utterly lost.

Well, they do interview you before going in to see if you should be on a jury or not.

I've heard of a few people not getting chosen because of a few things:
- Our friend, Junkie, was summoned and told the people interviewing him that he was working with a hacker on confidential federal business. They suddenly did not need him to serve.
- My friend, Kori, was not chosen when she showed up at the court with her various facial piercings, bearing both her arms (which are covered entirely in tattoos), and talking about how extremely liberal she is.

If you really do want to go forward with jury duty, hey, more power to you. I'm just posting that showing up still doesn't confirm that you'll have to serve.
