So the next Indy movie is supposed to take place in the 1950s. Still don't know what relic he's after, but oh well.

Several times, but they were people who were on their way to attending Rocky and these people often just hug strangers. I've also been hugged people for no reason.

Have you ever gotten road rage when you aren't the person driving?

Well... when you drop absolutes like, "You're either with us or with the terrorists," what else were we to expect?

Mind-bender: Obi-Wan's statement of "Only Sith deal in absolutes" is an absolute.

OK, enough Star Wars BS'ing, I really don't know what to say about any of this insanity other than listening to his speeches brings to mind something Padme said that rings true: "So this is how liberty dies... with thunderous applause."

If I remember correctly Jason Lee named his son "Pilot Inspektor." *Shrugs*

Article: http://news.aol.com/topnews/articles/_a/new-zealand-judge-blocks-name-for-baby/20070624111209990001?ncid=NWS00010000000001

New Zealand Judge Blocks Name for Baby
ABC News
Posted: 2007-06-24 14:05:57

(June 23) - Actress Gwyneth Paltrow named her baby after a fruit, Apple. Comedian Penn Jillette chose Moxie Crimefighter for his spunky daughter. And while unusual names may be a Hollywood staple, some believe it may cross the line in the real world.

One New Zealand judge even blocked one family from using the name it chose. The judge said the name was unfair to the child.

"Initially, the reaction is, 'Are you for real?'" said Pat Wheaton, the New Zealand father who was blocked from naming his son 4Real.

Wheaton said the idea for the name came when the couple saw the first scan of the child.

"We started thinking 'Jeez, he is for real?'" Wheaton said.

But when the parents filed the name with New Zealand's Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, they were told names beginning with a number were against the rules.

Registrar-General Brian Clarke said the rules are designed to prevent names that are "likely to cause offense to a reasonable person."

The Wheaton's idea for a name came naturally, but many parents are feeling the pressure to be different.

Baby naming is big business today. Some parents are turning to professional consultants, computer programs, polls and even numerologists to achieve the perfect moniker for their bundle of joy.

"Parents think that if they give their child a unique and special name, the child will become unique and special," said Bruce Lansky, author of "100,000 Baby Names."

Nevaeh, which heaven spelled backwards, has become one of the world's most popular names. But others don't always pass the societal test.

Two boys, one in Michigan and the other in Texas, bear the name ESPN. They were named after the sports network.

In some countries, names are illegal -- like Adolf Hitler and Osama Bin Laden in Germany.

And French parents must choose from an approved list. The laws are designed to prevent teasing.

In America, almost anything goes.

"You can't use a four letter word that I wouldn't use in this interview anyway, and other than that you're free to do what you want," said New York University Sociology Department Chairman Dalton Conley. "That's part of the first amendment right to free speech here in America."

Only as the children grow up will people learn if these interesting names will be the source of ridicule.

Information from the Associated Press was also used in this story.

I was really into it back in the days of the Rock and Stone Cold and such. Back when there was still the Hardy Boyz, Edge & Christian, when Triple H had the on-going drama with the McMahon family and D-Generation X were th scourges of the federation, when Mick Foley was Mankind who then became Cactus Jack and then became the wrestling commissioner, when Chyna was still the 9th wonder of the world and she was arm candy for (now dearly departed) Eddie Guerrero and others.

I'm truly sorry to see Chris Benoit go. I remember the days when he and Chris Jericho used to trash talk each other. The best one Y2J got on the Rabid Wolverine was saying that he had a midget-sized head on a normal-sized body, to which the camera spanned Benoit's body and sure enough it seemed he did have a small head compared to the rest of him. And that's how I always remembered him.

It's amazing how quickly some of these men are disappearing. R.I.P. Chris.

All I really have to say on the subject of "pro-wrestling" these days, in general, is so what if it's fake? It's entertaining and some of the story lines are better than most television these days, ESPECIALLY reality shows that are supposed to be a voyeuristic look into people's lives. Riiiiight.

It's like going to Medieval Times or some staged joust or interactive play. It's fake, you cheer for your favorites, boo the "bad guys," and that's all there is to it.

I imagine were there an ecstasy spider it would be too busy trying to hug the other spiders, twirling glowsticks, eventually getting put down along with the caffeine spider.

Supposedly using things like Altoids and peppermints during oral have an effect on the receiver because the minty sensation tingles on the genitals.

That's probably why Trojan makes "Mint Tingle" condoms, which from what I remember don't actually work that way.

Seriously, from what I've heard this is practically more urban myth than anything, though I heard stories about Pop Rocks.

I think we've reached the pointed that if it's more than 4 years old it's "old skool."

Why 4 years? Because with every new cycle of high schoolers, the type of music that's popular changes and what the class before them liked is considered retro.

Seriously, talk to a high school freshmen now about "what's good" and it's bands that you've never even heard of because you aren't listening to the radio any more. At least that's the way it is for me.

So in short, things considered old:
- Jennifer Lopez's singing career
- Backstreet Boys, N*SYNC, and the whole boy band era of the late '90s (Joey's on "Dancing with the Stars" for crying out loud)
- Will Smith's rap career
- Ricky Martin and much of the Latin wave, including Enrique Iglesias and 98 Degrees (and any other half-assed music groups) trying to release Spanish-speaking albums because it was hot.
- The sudden popularity of Carlos Santana (though he wasn't so popular in his hey-day)
- Spice Girls, Mariah Carey, Shania Twain, Christina Aguilera, and the like.
- Lou Bega, Shaggy, Tal Bachmen, Sisqo (and his "Thong Song"), etc
- No Doubt, although Gwen's solo career would probably be considered old now too

If you have said "Oh yeah!" or anything of the like to this list, YOU are old (at least to high schoolers these days).

But outside of music, things that make me sigh from the "old days"
- Dharma and Greg
- Xena: Warrior Princess, Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, The Adventures of Sinbad, Roar
- Any of the cartoons I listed in the other thread in this forum
- Disney (and other companies) actually putting out 2D animated features

I actually hadn't heard about that. Seriously, I was out all of yesterday, got home to a bunch of blog posts from friends about him being "found dead with his family," but no explanations.

Either way, I am sorry that such a thing happened. Sure it was a shitty thing he did, but there was obviously something wrong with him. Perhaps he killed himself out of regret? We don't know.

Again, I restate my "R.I.P. Chris" for the fact that whatever inner demons he had, perhaps he can make peace with them in whatever afterlife he might find.

Oh, I know, but since most of the younger crowd don't quite remember the "Genie in a Bottle" days or the fact that she isn't near as talked about as back then when fans would duke it out over her and Britney, she garners the "old school" title along with Gwen Steffani as a member of No Doubt. The Candy Man video is pretty good, I must say.

I jested that Gwen could be considered old since after her solo career hasn't had very much flare even with the release of an album, but no she's still not old skool yet.

I don't know personally, but ever since I read about it online somewhere back in middle school, I've told friends about it who've gone on to try it. It's hit and miss from what I understand. You have to get the timing right or the other person won't get the expected fizzing feeling.

The crunching down on Altoids and mints are also somewhat hit and miss too, but from what I've heard when either of them work, from what people tell me, you have them climbing the walls.

Without air conditioning or a fan: Yes. Every friggin' summer of my life here in L.A. And last year was our absolute worst summer yet. Now without power? No. Our power outages don't last more than a couple seconds.

Have you ever been yelled at to get moving, but the person who keeps yelling at you is wasting more time than you are (and you're ready to go)?

Oh holy crap, yes! Going to a lot of conventions, people sell you things claiming they're marked down as a con special, but then you end up paying much more. It especially sucks when you buy bootleg, thinking it's the real thing (that's just out earlier), but when the movie/DVD/box set actually comes out it's cheaper.

Have you ever found pictures of yourself on a random website (belonging to/posted by someone you don't know)?

I finished the third part in the Bloody Jack books a week ago: Under the Jolly Roger

While you'd expect this to be a nice refresher on life and history of tall ships, it's just another redundant love affair for Jacky Faber.

Either way, I've been working my way through Ye Gods, though it's taken me a bit. It's one of those books that I only read on the train, but I'm three-quarters of the way through. It reads like a slightly lesser version of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman writing a sequel to Good Omens using Greek mythology instead of Christianity, and all of the action just stops halfway through the book. Even the fights have no detail, simply that a character is talking and later it says there was a fight.
