I actually was faced with the option of seeing this yesterday, or something else (chose to see "Miss Potter" instead), and I did recall reviews that Jack Swallows was pretty damned funny.

I would see it just to see Crispin Glover as Willie Wonka since he's so flippin' creepy in most everything he does.

I still think it's just going to be a bunch of disjointed impressions, but we'll have to see. Will probably see this on DVD if someone I know rents it or buys it (I have the kind of friends who buy any and all DVDs that come out and never watch them), but I doubt I'll pay to see it.

Video blogging your inane thoughts and broadcasting them is "faggoty."

Interestingly enough, the fact they will catch hell will probably boost their ratings.

No such thing as bad publicity after all. Unless someone accuses you of being a baby raper.

I'm currently halfway through the first Bloody Jack book, Bloody Jack: Being an Account of the Curious Adventures of Mary "Jacky" Faber, Ship's Boy.

It's so far not been as interesting as the concept promised. Girl, orphaned at 8 and left to beg and scrounge in the streets, impersonates a boy in order to work as a cabin boy on board a Royal Navy man-of-war on its way to the Caribbean to fight and capture pirates.

It's written in first person, with the main character's London street slang thrown in for personality, but so far it's been like watching "Master and Commander," which was rather dull (then again I went and saw it with people who called the movie ridiculously boring and walked out not 30 minutes in).

I've heard mixed things from other people who read the whole series and a few have even said to just stop reading the series altogether. While the book is good at addressing things for historical accuracy the story doesn't progress much.

Next book planned: Smoke and Mirrors, and then Fragile Things. I'm just one of those people who likes to read books one or two at a time because reading more than two or three makes me less attentive to the books and not feel as drawn in. That's just me, though.

Both are rip-offs of much better songs.

Now with that said, "Can't Touch This" is better than "Ice Ice Baby," BUT "Under Pressure" is much more ethereal than "Super Freak."

The Buddhists have a thought on this. Since they continually hold to the belief that all things are impermanent, love, want, and need create suffering. So, in a sense, it is best not to partake in these things.

When it comes to the matters of a broken heart, I like to go with South Park's philosophy in which Butters had his heart stomped on by the Raisins girl. While crying his eyes out on the curb, he imparted this wisdom to a goth Stan and his new goth friends:

Goth Kid: I guess you can join up with us if you want.
Goth Kid 2: Yeah. We're gonna go to the graveyard and write poems about death and how pointless life is.
Butters: Uh, uhm no thanks. I love life.
Stan: Huh? But you just got dumped.
Butters: Well yeah, and I'm sad, but at the same time I'm really happy that something could make me feel that sad. It's like, it makes me feel alive, you know? It makes me feel human. And the only way I could feel this sad now is if I felt somethin' really good before. So I have to take the bad with the good, so I guess what I'm feelin' is like a, beautiful sadness. I guess that sounds stupid.
Goth Kid 2: Yeah.
Stan: No. No, Butters, that doesn't sound stupid at all.
Butters: Well, thanks for offering to let me in your clique, guys, but, to be honest, I'd rather be a crying little pussy than a faggy Goth kid.

So reports from Punxsutawney have been that Phil, the groundhog, didn't see his shadow this year.

We're in for an early spring apparently.

Phil's report, translated from its original goundhog-ese:

At 7:28AM on Friday February 2nd, 2007, Punxsutawney Phil, King of the Groundhogs. Seers of Seers, Prognosticators of Prognosticators, Weather Prophet without Peer, Imitated but Never Equaled gave the following proclamation:

El Nino has caused high winds, heavy snow, ice and freezing temperatures in the west;
Here in the East, with much milder winter we have been blessed.

Global warming has caused a great debate;
Mild winter makes it seem just great.

On this Groundhog Day, we think of one thing:
Will we have winter or will we have spring?

On Gobbler’s Knob, I see no shadow today;
I predict early spring is on the way!

Bumping because it would be lame to start a new thread when there's a perfectly serviceable thread here.

I'm currently playing Shadow of the Colossus. And anyone who's played it can probably agree that while it's one of those really well-made games, it's pretty complicated. Rather than fight a bunch of little enemies and then the boss of each level, you're just fighting bosses.

http://www.shadowofthecolossus.com/ (the English-UK version is much better than the US site on the list of options if you wanted to check it out)

Seriously, I love it a lot, but I've had Zoso fight a few of the Colossi.

For those who haven't played it, your character has been delegated a mission to defeat the 16 Colossi in order to possibly win back the soul of a girl he brought to the temple (none of the background story has been explained yet and I don't want to ruin it by reading FAQ sites). So you and your trusty horse set out to take the Colossi down by scaling them and stabbing them in their mystic vital points. Can be hard since these things do try to shake you off and you can only hold on for so long.

Anyone else played it or have an opinion on it?

Heh, I didn't go to work or any of my classes this week. I called in claiming that I was waiting around for my dad's nurse to show up, but such wasn't the case. I just hung out with Zoso and did not much else.

When I went in for class yesterday, it turned out it was a Flex Day on campus (no classes).

It's one of those nifty holidays to get excited about because no one else in the world would care--like Leif Erickson Day, Gorilla Suit Day, or Talk Like a Pirate Day (My friend and I dressed up like wenches and went around town talking like pirates just for shits. Even went to class like that. It was great!).

Hell, I'd love to be in Punxsutawney next year. They have huge celebrations and parties for Phil.

You're lucky for being in Pennsylvania, Xeios.

I remember being in pre-school or kindergarten when "Ice, Ice Baby" came out and we kids always used to say things that little kids who've only heard rumors but don't know what to make of them say. So it always went around that Vanilla Ice was in jail because he shot some guy in the head.

Same thing with Paul "Pee-wee Herman" Reubens. We always used say that he went to jail for doing his show naked or dancing naked in front of some kids or something wholly ridiculous like that.

But back to the songs. It's funny how Vanilla Ice used to say that he didn't have to credit Queen and Bowie when he sampled "Under Pressure" because he claimed he changed the bass line a little.

At least Hammer credited Rick James... bitch. Sorry, had to stick that on there.

Rumor has it that new regulations have been in place to keep Harrison Ford from cracking his iconic whip while filming the fourth installment to the Indiana Jones series, having the whip being CG'd in later.

Rumor also has it that Harrison has threatened to walk off if he can't stick with tradition.

Article: http://people.monstersandcritics.com/news/article_1254481.php/Ford_demands_whip

Seriously, take it with a grain of salt as this has neither been confirmed or denied. It's a pretty fun rumor, though.

All I can say is HOLY SHIT! It's about time.

Ten years ago, when I actually used to write fanfics and filk songs and post on boards with other GB fans, we used to talk about the third film (were it ever to be made) and say how we wished it were based off of the Extreme Ghostbusters.

Anyway, with how excited people will probably get about this, I wouldn't be surprised if the interest is rejuvenated.

South Park just ended. It was the episode where Stan, Kyle, Kenny and Cartman join that kids choir, Getting Gay With Kids, and go on a trip to the Costa Rican rainforest.

Right now it's Married With Children--Al and Jefferson get humiliated by a B-rated actress and try to sell a naked picture they accidentally took of her to the tabloids.

I guess it's to keep someone from getting sued.

Although CGing has gotten seamless in many movies, having it CG'd would be really cheesy.

Again, don't know how true this is. It could just be something the publicists "leaked" to keep the project in the public's eye. Then when the movie does come out, real whip included, all the people who believed the rumor would be extra satisfied with the finished project.

Is there a reason for these things popping up?

I haven't entered anything in them, and it's just as easy to click out of them and go about your business on the page, but I'm wondering if we could get rid of them.

Threads where they've popped up for me:

Maybe I'm the only one getting them, but everytime I click on the above threads, they still come up.
