Thought it was funny, especially with all of the little jokes, more like brain candy, for the fans (ex: BBC version Marvin made a few appearances, Willow, etc).

Yeah, I've heard a lot of critics tear it apart even nearly a year ago when just the promotional towels were given out. To them I say whatever; it doesn't matter what they say if you enjoy it and are willing to form your own opinion of it.

One of the many Pac media films I picked up before the rage hit the US...

I love it. Everyone I've shown my copy to has loved it. Stephen Chow is brilliant.

Again this is another film that appeases the fans in particular. I especially loved Qiu Yuen's part and the story that goes along with how she got the part.

Chow's directed other films like King of Comedy, Forbidden City Cop, God of Cookery, From Beijing with Love, and King of Destruction. He's mostly well-known for Shaolin Soccer, though, because a huge following was developed here for it before Miramax put out the official US Region 1 DVDs.

Chow's a veteran martial arts film star, hence his uncanny ability to make mock versions like Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle (both where he plays the main character "Sing").

I truly believe he's brilliant.

Well in Shaolin Soccer, especially, Chow instilled a character that was meant specifically to be an homage to Bruce Lee (the goalie, out-of-work brother). His hair is cut just like Lee's and he wears a Game of Death jumpsuit for his uniform and when he's being carried away after getting injured in the big game against Team Evil, he puts on the same fashion of sunglasses Bruce Lee wore all the time and lie in the same way Bruce Lee did in his coffin in Hong Kong.

*sigh* Oh that Shonen Jump.

Though I don't watch much television myself, this series has been on for some time along with Shaman King, Ultimate Muscle, and the like. I'm quite surprised Naruto isn't on Fox yet, actually. It fits their M.O.

There is no longer a such thing as Fox Box however, seeing as since most of the shows are there were licensed by 4Kids, the programing has thus been renamed "4Kids TV." No huge surprise.

No, the fate of all anime is not to wind up on syndicated American television, but one has to expect that when something becomes so popular that many are fans of it already, the American market would love to get a piece of that action. Seriously, it's there because the public made it wanted by the networks.

"Japanimation" is a fad for most people anyway, it'll blow over with every fair-weather "otaku" that thinks big eyes are neato and we should just become Japan altogether. It's sickening watching people become fans because it's cool to be a fan(boy/girl).

I took these pictures today at school. A swarm of bees gathered on this person's car in one of the parking lots. No idea why or if these are "Africanized" bees.

One a side note, the car was the only one around with a Bush/Cheney sticker on it, as my friend loves to point out.

Also, what about the many times when Rogue copy-pastes an article into her posts in Current Events/Debate? She'd get more lucre for something that wasn't her work to begin with.

Note: I am not trying to say Rogue would abuse this, I'm merely pointing out a flaw in the idea.
Considering the fact that I don't even use or care about our fake money system, would you rather I just delete all of my lucre to be fair?

No really, I don't care about this stuff (as I don't even sim battle) and hell, being an admin and can give or take it away, I don't really see a point in my having any.

Oh well. How 'bout this... post and be active. This is all meant to be fun, not something to ruin your day over.

Posted on 05-14-05 10:28 AM, in The lady who found a finger in her Wendy's chili Link
Just found this through a blog. All right so, case almost closed.

Moral of the story: if your husband's co-worker loses a finger in an industrial accident, under no circumstances try to use it to make money.

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The finger that a woman said she found in a bowl of Wendy’s chili came from an associate of her husband who lost the digit in an industrial accident, police said Friday.

“The jig is up. The puzzle pieces are beginning to fall into place, and the truth is being exposed,” Police Chief Rob Davis said.

The man is from Nevada and lost a part of his finger in an accident last December, Davis said. His identity was traced through a tip made to Wendy’s hot line, he said.

He said authorities “positively confirmed that this subject was in fact the source of the fingertip.”

Anna Ayala, the woman who said she found the finger, was arrested last month at her suburban Las Vegas home and is charged with attempted grand larceny.

Ayala, 39, said she bit down on a 1 1/2 inch-long finger fragment while dining with her family in March at a San Jose Wendy’s. But authorities had said they believed the story was a hoax.

Ayala’s husband, Jaime Plascencia, was arrested earlier this month on a fugitive warrant at the couple’s home to face charges unrelated to the Wendy’s case. San Jose police had said he used his children’s personal information in a fraudulent manner for personal gain.

Authorities are considering additional criminal charges against Ayala and her husband, Davis said.

“We are exploring all other options and avenues available to see that those involved in this charade will be investigated,” Davis said.

The man who lost the finger, whose name was not released, had given the finger fragment to Plascencia, Davis said. Davis would not disclose details of the investigation but said the man was cooperating.

A phone call to Ayala’s attorney on Friday was not immediately returned.

Wendy’s International Inc., based in Dublin, Ohio, has offered a $100,000 reward and has said it has lost millions in sales since Ayala made the claim. Dozens of employees at the company’s Northern California franchises also have been laid off.

“There are victims in this case that have suffered greatly,” Davis said.

The news initially aroused sympathy for Ayala, but suspicions grew as questions were raised about her story.

Wendy’s had said no employees at the San Jose store had missing fingers, and no suppliers of Wendy’s ingredients had reported any finger injuries. Authorities said there was no evidence the finger had been cooked, and also said Ayala had a history of filing claims against businesses.

As scrutiny mounted, Ayala withdrew a claim she had filed against the chain.

In addition to attempted grand larceny in the Wendy’s case, his wife is charged with grand larceny in an unrelated matter.

Plascencia remains in jail in Nevada, but Davis said he would be extradited soon to San Jose. He was charged with identity theft, fraudulent use of official documents, failure to pay child support and child abandonment in the case involving his children.

Police received a number of tips about the possible source of the finger, including one about a rural Nevada woman whose finger tip was bitten off by a spotted leopard kept as a pet. Police also recently searched a ranch north of Guadalajara, Mexico, owned by a relative of Plascencia.

I've known a few people who have had the surgery done and yes, I do consider them whatever sex they mentally believe themselves to be. I don't see what the big fuckin' deal is with some people.

Hell, I know a few drag queens, personally, that I regularly forget are male and constantly call "she" and "her" and so on.

On a side note, one of my favorite films of all time is "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" (glam rocker has a botched sex change operation, thus "the angry inch," though that's also what she decided to name her band) and even though I know Hedwig is really played by a man in drag, I always refer to Hedwig as a "she."

Also I think this would be an excellent thread for Debate. If you don't mind Jin, I'd like to move it there for a better fit. *moves thread*

Heh, I've got quite a few. Severe and not so.

My most recent one is this guy that calls every now and then asking why we can't be more than friends. He got my number from someone in one of my editing classes since everyone is given everyone else's home numbers.

Hell, I've had people who go on about how they don't like me and yet seem to be everywhere they know I'll be (i.e. show up at my work, the Rocky Horror Picture Show, my hang outs, or call me asking for things and so on) almost like they want to watch me all the time.

The most severe case I've ever had was this guy that used to show up outside of my house in the middle of the night and stare through my bedroom window and call at all hours of the night, breathing heavily into the phone, occasionally describing what he wishes he could be doing at that moment.

It's not as flattering as they think and really as awkward as stalkers can be, there are things that can be done to remedy them.
