I like the fact that they're adding stuff to the races to make them really stand out from each other... As opposed to just a few points/perks at 1-4th level. Seriously, the gear you're usually given makes up for that by then.

I'm up for learning it. Again.

It really saddens me when artists (musicians, painters, authors) put their talent in the back seat and sell out. When (if) I make it big as one myself, I will stay away from that kind of crap. If I do make some money on the side, that's great, but I'm not going to be out to suck every dollar from everybody and play the victim. That's just not right.

tl;dr
I hate the industry.

This is possibly the best movie to come out all of this year and last year, easily. I mean, I can't believe they killed Tony Stark in the end!

By the way, that last sentence is a spoiler so don't read it!

Of course, that's a brutal lie. Iron Man is just too badass for that to happen. Sorry on my part for the stupid joke.

Word count: 895

Whew, I didn't think I could write at this hour! Also, I plan on writing more on this story later.
Edit: Spacing issues, layout is stupid, blah blah...

I awoke in severe agony, soaked in my own blood, confused, the throes of deep wounds covering every inch of my pale body. I had barely survived the torture. I could smell the blood of the previous victim on the musty walls and floor of the pitch-black room. Knowing where I was was not an option for I had been taken prisoner while I was unconscious. Who were these sadistic fiends? My best guess was that they were The Consortium, a rogue band of Warlocks. They were usually the ones to carry out underhanded deeds such as this.

"Do you realize why you are here, heretic?" came a voice.

"If you're going to kill me, do it now" I said, weakly.

The voice chuckled, a gruff voice, suited to that of an unintelligent grunt. Ironic that a scholar such as I would be subject to the discretion of this lunatic. "No" chimed the villain "I need you alive for now. You will tell me where the rest of you are hiding!"

He was talking about the other wizards. As abruptly as he had finished his sentence, a light of a magical source flooded the room. It was a stone dungeon, like I had thought, with blood everywhere. It was perhaps the size of a small sleeping quarters of a peasant.

I was obviously not the first one here, for in the corner of the room was a bloated corpse littered with rat feces, naked and sprawled. Quite the lodging indeed. "I will tell you nothing, wretch!" I spat. "I won't surrender my comrades to a filthy Warlock such as you, you miserable traitor!"

"I see. I guess I'll just have to let you rot here then. I have no qualm with your fate. Let the rats have you!" With that, he left the cell via portcullis. When I could hear him no longer, I began to chant the Rite of Dissolution, a spell to kill whomever stepped upon the rune that was made. Surely that unwise Warlock would return, unaware of the trap I had placed for him.

"We'll see who has the last laugh..." I murmured to myself as I slowly passed into what I had thought was death's sweet embrace.

I awoke again to a scream, as the Warlock was disintegrated into a pile of formless dust. I thought that surely I was dead. It was like I was brought back to life. "We must make haste!" came a familiar voice. It was a tall robed figure, with the mark of my clan. He had the voice of one of the instructors back at the academy, years ago. "We don't have much time, we have to escape! Come on, get up!"

I brought myself to my feet, noticing that my wounds were no more. In a moment, we headed through the door onwards to our escape. Down a corridor only meters long and out the wooden door at the end was the scent of fresh air and the sight of beautiful moonlight covering the grassy valley in a placid illumination. In the distance I could see more Warlocks, possibly five or six, making their procedure to our location. In the darkness, we were hidden.

"I will deal with them, you go on ahead." said the man. I finally saw his face. It was my old master, his wizened white beard reflecting the subtle moonlight. I felt ashamed that I could be caught by these while under the tutelage of this master of the arts.

"I... I will go. Please master, be careful!"

"Don't fear for me, child. This is our destiny." he said as he advanced toward the clutch of Warlocks approaching. I feared for him anyway. Even though they weren't as educated, they could still prove a threat to even the most powerful of wizards.

I bolted from the site as fast as my feet would allow. Behind me, I could hear fire and the screams of enemy and friend alike.

The next morning, I reached the gates of Nordil, a peaceful farming town not far from the enclave of Wizards in hiding.

"Good to see you made it!" pitched Raul, an old friend. "I was starting to think you died in there!"

"I was starting to think that myself" I said, smiling. I had finally found friendly faces. My luck had finally returned.

"Get him." he said as I was seized once again. I didn't think that my best friend would betray me. I was wrong. He laughed as I was dragged away again. One of the figures upon me was that of my torturer. I stared, puzzled as he remained alive and well.

"Oh, about your little 'trick'. It killed your real friend." I looked back on what I thought was Raul but was just a Warlock in a magical disguise. Somehow, I didn't think I was going to survive this time.

Ah, about the friend's betrayal, it wasn't really him. The last sentence states that he was a Warlock in a magical disguise and that Raul was killed by the trap that the main character had laid. I thought it read kind of weird now that I'm reading it now (only 9:40 right now, not 4 in the morning) and about the grammar score, I completely agree. I don't know why, but most of the things that I type don't sound quite right when I read them later and I still don't know why. I guess that proofreading is key after all!

And for the spelling... Not only am I an impeccable speller (not to brag) but theres a Firefox addon that I have that checks every word when you type them and right clicking it will give spelling suggestions if you're not sure. I'd leave out that score next time, in my honest opinion.

Thanks for the rating! I'll be writing here more often, that's for sure.

Holy fucking bump, Batman! I guess when I say "Later tonight", I actually mean a year and a half! Well, I've been brewing about this story for a while now and I'm ready to pull something together, for all of you happy little Xeogamers (or at least the losers who come to Story Realm and read my crap)! Enjoy!

PS- Read my competition entry before this as it will add some filler into this one.

"Did you find anything worthwhile?" asked Jyne, impatiently.

"Ne, I only found rubbish amongst these wretches. They be only farmers, poor ones at that." replied Therni, looking at the freshly slain couple. "What'd ye expect?"

Jyne had just been admitted into The Consortium only days before now. He had been left a peasant after the constant attacks against his old village, which is now in ruin. "Nothing. Lets report back to the others."

They headed west.

------------------------

"Your skills have improved immensely, Taddi." said Nolan.

"I've asked you to never call me that many times now, Nolli!" responded Tadirus sharply. "It really doesn't suit me."

Tadirus had been training with Nolan for almost a month, in between his successful battles within the Coliseum. He didn't make as much gold as he would have wanted but it was better than what he could have gotten elsewhere. Being young and arrogant, he had little remorse for the souls that he had slain.

"Well then, I haven't been called Nolli in a long time. That used to be a nickname for me when I first came here, you know!" said Nolan. "You remind me of myself sometimes. I was a lot like you, brash and bullheaded..."

"Who are you calling bullheaded? I think before I act, just like everybody else! Well, maybe not everybody..." chuckled Tadirus. "Anyway, I was thinking about taking a leave from here. I wanted to check up on my family, make sure they can still feed themselves."

"Yes. I sometimes wonder if my family is still alive after all of these years. I still cling to the hope that they may be well. It's what keeps me fighting, that one day I can free myself from this place." Nolan considered his age for a moment. "But I may just die an old man before that can become a reality."

"Hey, don't say that! I'm sure they're okay, if they can fight like you!" Nolan fought with such grace that no opponent had ever even been a challenge to him. It was almost surprising that he hadn't payed his debt to his owners with his resounding success. It was perhaps the greed of the owners that he was still here.

"Such kind words. Maybe you're right. Come, let us rest." said Nolan, sheathing his elaborately designed longsword.

"You know, maybe I could pay your debt. I've won my fair share and I could probably free you! I don't need everything I've won to help my family so I think I'll give it a shot!" said Tadirus excitedly.

"No, that would be a waste of time." But Tadirus had left before Nolan could finish. "Ahh, that boy. He never thinks of himself. I only hope that he doesn't get himself into trouble."

------------------------

"Well, you either accept my offer... Or I kill you. It's your choice." said the cloaked figure, palming his dagger.

"Please sire, no need for that! You can have the damned slave, he's not worth my life!"

"Excellent. Here is your payment." said the disguised Tadirus in a sinister voice as he threw the crowns on to the floor. He couldn't believe that the man fell for his bluff! "I'll go get him now. Make a sound to the guards and my men will slice out your tongue and gouge your eyes."

"Yes yes, you have what you came for, so please leave!" said the frightened man.

Tadirus turned away from the lavish manor and stepped away into the night. The moon was full and the air was cold, most befitting of an early spring eve. With a bounce in his step, he was happy to be able to tell his friend of the good news.

------------------------

"How did you manage that?!" asked an incredulous Nolan.

"Simple, I made him an offer that he couldn't refuse!" replied Tadirus with a smirk on his face.

"But that man has everything he could want! How could a few lousy crowns make a difference?"

"He seemed desperate for his life..."

"You fool! He'll have guards all over us!"

"Relax, there's no need to-"

Tadirus was cut short by a small troop of guards. "You are in violation of the law. Come with us and you shall have your life!"

"Damn boy, you really are something. Did you really think that he wouldn't recognize you? He probably saw right through your bluff. We should just surrender-" said Nolan, being cut off by Tadirus rushing the guards. "You never cease to amaze me, Taddi." Nolan unsheathed his sword. These guards didn't know what was coming.

Alright, mostly just a thread to see if this layout still works. I'm kinda bored of the old one anyhow.

EDIT: Okay, its broken. Any pointers on how to fix it? I haven't done HTML in a couple years now and it would be much appreciated to get my old layout back to its former glory. Thanks!

And I put this thread here because I forgot about that other one

EDIT: Layout is still being dumb.

I've had nearly the same exact thing happen before. I've gone through probably a hundred cats in my lifetime, most of which being killed by a neighbor's cat either through serious injury or cat leukemia that they contracted from the bastard. In any case, it sucks that the cat doesn't really have anywhere to go but a shelter as it probably won't get along with anybody. Hopefully it will be adopted by somebody who doesn't have any other animals so it will have a fighting chance. Even if the cat is the biggest pain in the ass, it doesn't deserve to get put down.
