This sounds to be a fun challenge. If Phoenix comes up on the home stretch I'll have to be the first to deny him his rank.

Maybe I'll start posting when he get's within 500, just to be a jerk .

When the planets align correctly there will be blood in the water!

1. Take a picture of yourself with an entire clementine orange in your mouth, then another picture of you biting down.

2. Dress in Drag, pix.

3. Blatantly flame someone who does not deserve it, quote the post here.

Character sheet-a-ma-bob.

Name: Vlados Tyrani

Race: Baneblood

Age: 19

Appearance: Vlados is a tall, slender Baneblood. His skin a light tone, similar to a human's skin, his eyes are the standard purple all of the Banebloods bear. His hair is dark and pulled away from his face. His teeth have a fanglike nature, a side effect of the blight the demon-blood has wretched upon his family.

Biography: Vlados is the Seventh son of the Emperor of Bannord, his strong abilities with technology, particularly creating mechanical objects, led the nation to put massive amounts of funding into his education. Vlados' brothers and sisters did not like the favoritism he received, fearing he would be considered for the throne before the rightful heirs. They devised a plan to get him out of the picture, to eliminate him. The murder plot did not succeed, but their result was accomplished anyway, as Vlados fled the nation to where he could be safe: Pyria, a neutral nation of great wealth and power. To attack a Pyrian soldier, let alone a Peregrine, would cause a catastrophic event for the whole Bannordial nation. Vlados joined for more noble reasons than self-preservation; he wanted to serve the greater good and further his craft where he could be appreciated. He also wanted to build a name for himself, and prove that the world should not look upon Banebloods in a negative light.

Personality: Quirky, Charismatic, Intelligent, Sometimes Mischievous, and an excellent Strategist.

The morning sun shone through the ravine, casting deep shadows throughout where any rock face stood. A small shadow, almost insignificant in it's appearance, bore the shape of a human. His hair black, short, and seeming relatively messy, his eyes a bright green, skin a light tone. He was certainly not from around here; yet, here he stands, awaiting his challenger.

The clothing fit him very well, he wore a white button-down shirt, sleeves rolled up, a pair of dark grey jeans, and a pair of black high-top sneakers. The man's arms were covered in bandages, not well, mind you, wrapped carelessly across his forearms, focused primarily on his wrists and hands. A small trail of bandage fluttered from either arm in the wind.

"Good morning Cairoi, wonderful day to test our skills again, don't you think?"

The lone man smiled lightly as he talked to his old friend, their sparring match seemed as though it would be entertaining to say the least.

Link to the Past, the game was centered around a fantastically absent storyline, perfect for the games of it's generation. A Dual-world gameplay mechanic where things were different between worlds, a revolution of it's time. Solid combat mechanics, where the controls were solid. A very well proportioned upgrade system that actually made you feel like you were getting more powerful as the game went on. The secondary weapons all had dual usefulness, meaning they all had a way to be used in combat, and all were also used for puzzles, none that were only used for one or the other. And for the love of God there were sprites, which make me happy in more places than one.

All in all, LttP is my favorite. The others are merely moot points compared to how excellent LttP was, Links Awakening was nice, but since it came out after Link to the Past, it felt too similar lacking innovation.

Ocarina of Time, on the other hand, had a fantastic storyline, with depth and intrigue. Though it most certainly lacked the finesse of the two-dimensional top-down world. also, the controls were unwieldy at times, making a jump from one point to another being rather inconsistent at times. The storyline and driving factors for Link made you feel more connected to this particular Link than any other, but, once again, the story followed the Dual-World precedence established in LttP.

I have to say on some levels I agree with Ryan. I think FF8 was cluttered and nonsensical, although a fantastic game with a compelling storyline, until disc 2 that is. Personally, I like to believe this theory, and maybe with this theory in mind, I'll be able to complete this game. I stopped playing FF8 after the story went batshit insane. Seriously, once Irving said: "We all lived in this orphanage, I just didn't mention it because I thought you all were mad at me." I stopped, did a double take, a mighty facepalm, then ejected the disc from my system and started playing something that wasn't awful.

Personally, I'm one of those 'FFVII was the best game ever!' people, yes, I loved the story of Seven, I loved the way it was executed, and I loved the ridiculous nature of the plot. It was a game that had a general sense of where it wanted to go. It was a reflection on the nature of self, and self-identity.

Caution, here there be spoilers.

Spoiler:
Cloud was a nobody, he became a somebody by force of will. People think that Cloud's evasion of personal questions early in the game was simply poor writing, it was an expert amount of foreshadowing that many games cannot accomplish. He was nothing, a lowly soldier in some padded armor, carrying a gun. He was injected with 'Mako' when he became a lowly foot soldier, though this is not entirely true. It is elaborated later that he was injected with some cells of Jenova, Hujo's attempt at continuing to make a perfect soldier, to make another Sephiroth.

Sephiroth was a somebody who became a nobody, a person who was as famous as a warrior could get for his time. But what happens? He becomes obsessed with being created, his life not being his own, so to speak, that his mental functions break down, almost as though he was being controlled by the very 'mother' from whom he was created.

Cloud plays a backseat in the storyline as he is a nobody at this point, chronologically that is, and the true emphasis on the early timeline is what Zack did. Though Zack met his end at the hands of Sephiroth, who at this point and time had gone insane to so speak. But I like to believe he was being controlled by the incomprehensibly powerful Jenova, who was able to control Sephiroth because he had her genetic code within, since he was essentially built from her genetic material. Sephiroth kills Zack(who also has Jenova's genetic material within, but to a lesser extent) and almost kills Tifa, he tries to escape, being met by Cloud. Cloud(who has genetic material of Jenova within him, get the jump on Sephiroth, who stabs Cloud through the stomach, Cloud in his pain(and possibly as a side-effect of being near Jenova) musters an incredible amount of strength to throw Sephiroth off of the small platform they are on, killing him. Cloud manages to survive and carry Tifa to safety(probably as a side-effect of being near Jenova).

Now this is where the story is a tad convoluted and simply more compelling. Jenova's head was in a ditch with Sephiroth's body. She used this to her advantage, essentially powering herself and taking the form of Sephiroth(possibly because he was in close proximity, or because Jenova knew that Sephiroth would be a form she could use to exalt a terrifying revenge cake against the Shin-Ra organization. Who kept Jenova captive for many years.

Now, Jenova(as Sephiroth) did what she needed to do, bringing about destruction to her former captives, killing all who got in her way, and eventually retreating to the site where she crashed. (The Northern Crater, Jenova was an alien from another world that crashed into the planet, forming the Northern Crater) Here, Jenova attempted to summon a Meteor, the likes of which caused the Northern Crater before, to strike the planet in the same spot, hoping to draw more of the planet's life-force for which she could feast.

So, yeah, I like FFVII, this thread makes me think that I should replay FFVIII, and I know entirely too much about FFVII. As I clearly delivered a base synopsis of the plot from the top of my head. >.<

Third result in a google search for "Who is Jenova?" http://faqs.ign.com/articles/706/706775p1.html

It seems to have some very well thought out and interesting information, as well as a nice compilation.

Anyways, yes, there is more than enough speculation on the end of FFVII as well. I agree with you, the combat in FFVII was fast paced(for a JRPG with turn-based combat), and there wasn't a need for a grind. You could very easily beat the game by simply playing what interested you, if you did more, you got more out of it, if you did less, you certainly weren't penalized by an impossible boss. From what I've heard/seen, 8 was all about the grind for 'more.' The materia system worked well in Seven, just like the GF system worked well in Eight. Behind the curtain the game was great, but what we saw was a bit lackluster.

Hm. I never seemed to have that problem, I finished the game at ~level 52 my first playthrough without any issues. Perhaps it was unintentional grinding from doing fun things like Fighting Ultima weapon, or it could be that I try and find every treasure within an area, leading to a natural increase of XP.

Though, on second thought, I mostly meant no grind for the ultimate stuff. I mean, I never had the "Knights of the Round" or "Mimic" materias, and surely they'd have helped.

A smile came across Xeios' young face.

"Ten paces, in opposite directions, then draw?"

Xeios spoke quite calmly, his hands resting at his side, as he turned and began to walk away. As he walked away, Cairoi would be able to see the holster which carried Xeios' revolver. Nothing remarkable jumped out about this weapon. It bore all the common characteristics of a revolver, perhaps it served as a conduit for Xeios' power, Cairoi could not be certain. It has been a long time since they met on the field of battle. Xeios reached ten paces away and turned on a dime, right hand located just above the hilt of the revolver, left hand in a defensive position in front of his body.

"Whenever you are ready, friend."

Xeios' bright green eyes scanned the area, attempting to discern the true nature of the energy blast. From Xeios' left hand a light glowing aura appeared, which he used to bat the blas of energy into the ground, his hand, which was glowing a light gray before, took on a pale green shimmer. Moments after batting the small blast of energy away, Xeios thrust his hand forward, and an orb of transparent kinetic energy launched forth at Cairoi, not a particularly powerful attack, but one which should knock the wind out of Cairoi were it to connect.

Edit for not fully reading Cairoi's post. :V

As the scatter shot of rocks flew towards Xeios, he slid his legs apart, completing a split, then pressing his body against the ground. He slammed his left hand into the ground as he did so, and a shockwave of energy released from him, settling down into a small barrier. The initial shockwave vaporized the small pieces of stone that were hurtling towards him, and the barrier afterwards was simply to avoid the debris. Dust covered the playing field, making things incredible difficult to see. But Xeios did not need to see the two blast of energy to avoid them, as his current position should have been enough. A moment later, Xeios stood back up, from here, he charged Cairoi. (Lol, CHARGE'EM!) The dust cloud that remained was still very thick, and Xeios used this to his advantage, by attempting to bring a powerful uppercut to his foe's chin.

See it.

If you don't you'll regret it.

Probably one of the most excellently executed films I've ever seen. Also, as far as effects are concerned, all I have to say is: Remember the first time you saw the Matrix, and thought 'Holy shit, I have never seen anything like this before, I sure hope this doesn't get copied in films for the next ten years, if not longer.'

This takes the crown from the Matrix when it comes to 'groundbreaking' effects.

Storyline, well thought out, coherent, and does almost everything well. I mean, the world introduces itself to you perfectly, there is build up, they let you have time to realize the world of entering dreams as a reality, then they jump from that point to plant you eyeball deep in the storyline. Also, the whole god damned film appears to be alive, an ever changing plot, which is impressive to pull off.

Can't say anything else, because then I'll start spoiling things.

See it.

Xeios noticed the kick coming as he began launching his attack, instead of retreating from the blow, he pushed his body into it. Smothering the force the blow planned to attain. Xeios winced with pain when the kick struck him, but he did not recoil from it. His right arm, which he planned to use for the uppercut, was kept in front of him now, cancelling his attack once he knew it was faulty. Now, he took his left hand and brought it across with a quick hook towards Cairoi's face. His left hand was glowing a light green with magical energy, amplifying the force of this blow by a substantial amount. Xeios' right arm was kept in front of his face in a defensive position.

I facepalmed a mighty facepalm. So much fail, it's absurd.

I enjoy the fact that the entire first video is her being a stuck-up bitch, talking about how she doesn't like the haters, but they don't mean shit.

Then she cries for ten minutes, and the old dude yells.
