Posted on 12-14-05 01:59 AM, in seperation of news from debate shrine Link
i know that the debate forum says that it's "For political, religious, philosophy, and current world news discussion and debate."

yeah, it says it's also for current world news, but i seriously think there should be a seperate forum for that.

the seperate forum should be for current world news, local news, or just any news or even catchy headline. sometimes news dont need to be debated, just read, or commented on. for example:
"News bit: Naked 'Tickler' Targeting Sleeping Elderly Women" doesnt seem like it needs to be debated upon. just commented on is all. or even, "Couple bathes in own feces and blame the health dept. for it" i dont really see how it could be debated upon.

anyways, i just think it would be clearier, and easier if there were a seperate forum for news, than mixing it with the debate shrine.

prob cause you dont live in cali.

anyways, i dont hear about this anymore after his execution. i didnt hear anything about no riots if they would execute him either. in any case, i think you're really spinning this outta control.

the only thing that's weak about ppl's case about capital punishment is that instead of focusing on an individual, they should just focus on it in general. like arnold's push for an admendment for non-american born citizens for president. no one would vote on it, because they know it's entirly just for him. if he would promise that he wouldnt run if the admendment were to be passed, it would look better. this is the same for tookie. instead of pushing for an end to capital punishment just for an individual, they shouldn't be gathering at the next person up for an execution. it just looks bad if you're doing it for one person, instead of it in general.

anyways, point being, people are stupid when it comes to a "higher calling." if they were to allow death sentencees a chance to say that they've changed, then obviously everyone on death row will say the same thing. so just them saying or even showing that they've changed should not have any bearing on anything. it just just be all or none. capital punishment, or no capital punishment at all.

plus, i think ppl are wayyyyyy too much into capital punishment. we hardly ever use it, and they're making it as if it's an everyday kinda thing. anyways, in some states, ppl get executed within years, tookie has been in prison for a long ass time.

i never really understood the concept of class rings. i mean, you get the choose the designs and all that, so how can it be special for your school? i guess it would've been better if the school, or at least private schools, would provide the same right to ever senior for graduation. that way, all the rings would look the same so you can tell who went to what school or whatnot. but then again, public schools are poor.

anyways, yeah, dont really get class rings. i guess only jocks and ppl into sports or school stuff buys'em, cause no one else does =/

regardless, you're presenting us with a question, and even showed a picture of "Osama bin Laden"'s family member, who supposibly is supposed to be a super muslim because of his powers within the network, yet you do not even mention the fact that he has hundreds and hundreds of nieces. that's totally twisting the facts.

a reasonable person would not have guessed, or even imagened that Laden would even have 50 brothers and sisters, yet alone hundreds of nieces, therefore, the format of the question is horribly prejudicial. if you however had a picture of his wife or daughter, i wouldnt say anything, but this is really bad =/

what you're doing is essentially going to a fat camp for kids, and saying "i've randomly went to a childen's camp, and have found out that all of america's children are overweight" and not even revealing that you were at a fat camp. it's totally prejudicial towards the facts.

but then again, i'll give you the benifit of the doubt and say that you didnt know he had 49 other sibblings in his family

i guess that's your interpretation to the meaning of life, but in practical means, a religion IS a set of rules to life. The reason why it’s called a “Religion” instead of “Conveniences” is because of the sets of rules you MUST follow. You’re not supposed to pick and choose what you’d like, and still call yourself whatever it is the religion you supposibly believe in.

The definition of hypocrisy is the practice of professing beliefs, feelings, or virtues that one does not hold or possess; falseness.

Unless you’ve changed that definition, you are a hypocrite. you can however say that you practice christinity, but you cannot say that you are a real christian.

like, if you have never read any law books, or gone to any law classes or anything in law for that matter, you cannot claim that you are a lawyer just because you like lawyers and their lifestyle.

you believe there is a united states constitution, but you also believe in the articles of confederation. the articles of confederation is our first constitution.

united states history teaches that the united states constitution is first, i dont believe that.

SAME EXAMPLE! just cause you know a few things here and there, yet completly ignore the core principles like going to law school (church), being an honest lawyer (good person), dress appropriately, ect... does not mean you are a lawyer.

i'm not trying to be mean or put you down or anything. i'm just pointing out the fact that you said it's not hypocrisy, yet that's exactly what the word means. i know exactly what you are trying to say, but i cant help it if your interpretation is not right in praticial means. it is right in how religion should, or could be, but it isnt how it's praticed in real life.

i think it's the opposite of that. just because you're having a good time doesnt mean you have to bring everyone up to your level who does not believe in the holiday.

THAT should be something everyone should keep in mind. not everyone shares the same religion, or celebrate the same things, so dont force your beliefs down ppl's throats. not, bringing others down, but bringing others up when they dont wanna be up. i dont think anyone intentionally bring others down, but i know for a damn fact that others intentionally bring others into their celebration even though they know not everyone celebrates it.

of course people are going to want to pick and choose. who wants to go into a religion that forces you to eat shit to pay respects for their god?

what is a religion, and what is the basis for such beliefs to become a religion? if there were millions of beliefs unassociated or non-connecting with each other, then it's not a religion. two people who share different views, and practices cannot be of a same religion. one person cannot believe there is no god, and another believing in a god can say that they both are christians or w/e. you cannot say there are no rules set for a religion. it's crazy to even think that. if there are no rules, then it's not a religion, but rather your own thoughts of how the world works.

and if you are talking about Holy Wars, i believe that both of the feuding sides have DIFFERENT gods. -.-' so no... unless i'm wrong about that, i dont think that was a good example. also, even if they were fighting amongst each other, they're not fighting about the rules, but rather how it's Interpreted.

from what you're saying, religion has no set rules, then how does one know if they're practicing it right as their god would want them to?

regardless of what your god would want you to do, one cannot simply say he belongs to a domination yet have nothing in common with his fellow brothers and sisters in the practice of their worship.

bottom line, you can say you are whatever the hell you want or think you are, but you truly are not one if you dont share or practice the same rules. surly you can't break every commandment and still say you are a true and pure christian. well, you can say it, but it doesnt mean you are one.

anyways, i'm gonna have'ta say the second one. the first one is plain stupid. if everything you do isn't a choice, and based on experience, then how do you account for everything that has happened during your entire childhood? you never had any experience after birth. plus, what about gambling? my giving the cashier a dollar for a random pick at lottery numbers and winning has nothing to do with being inevitible. it's chance that the machine gives me the right number, not because i'm destined to win.

well the thing is, you should read the article.. it has merits of why it should be in court, according to italian laws and whatnot

well... the case was about some guy suing a priest who writes for a parish newspaper. and...."Cascioli says Righi, and by extension the whole Church, broke two Italian laws. The first is "Abuso di Credulita Popolare" (Abuse of Popular Belief) meant to protect people against being swindled or conned. The second crime, he says, is "Sostituzione di Persona," or impersonation."

so yeah... how hard is this really... it's about those two laws. one guy is saying that the other is making money by conning people into believing in jesus. so now he has to prove that jesus exists in order for his money making to be legal. it's not really about faith, but more about the laws. i'm not making sense, am i?
