VERY pretty!

I'm glad you got to dodge the bullet. When I got home this morning, they wanted to tell me what happened, two of my sisters and my oldest two nieces. I just said "Wait." counted the 4 of them and said "Way too many women for me to care." and walked away. I somehow get away with comments like those, nowadays.

Hiking sounds awesome though. I'm jealous. How is Brandon's Grandmother? I'm sorry you didn't get go to out there.

Actually, I see your point there, Kai. I've ALWAYS thought it was entirely possible that Einstein was on to SOOOOO much more than the rest of the world knew. But never talked about it because A) He didn't think we were ready for it, and/or B) he didn't have sufficient proof. Science isn't just finding something and then getting proof, and then writing about/experimenting on/using it. Sometimes we may stumble upon something, but don't have the right tools to offer sufficient proof...but once other inventions catch up, BANG!

**shrugs** Ongoing process. S'how I always saw it, including everything and anything Einstein had to say. He'd roll over in his grave if we didn't accept that as we get better at this, we'll discover more shit. Haha.

Eitherway...totally bad ass. Seriously.

Posted on 11-30-11 02:01 AM, in Busy? Link
I've ben busy and all. Blah blah blah. But shit's been fucking CRAZY the past few days. Namely, Monday and Tuesday.

I started going nuts on Craigslist for job searches....I applied to a bunch of 'em and started hearing back and have had several interviews within the past two days alone.

The interesting ones:

Model for David's Bridal. I applied to that one as a joke. I was dared to. Well, I had my interview today (Tuesday) and already got a phone call for a second interview. What the fuck? O_o I mean, I don't have low self-esteem, but it's just not something I foresaw being even remotely possible for myself. **shrugs**

I have had interviews at three different law firms have a few more later this week. Got a call back one for a second interview, another they want to give me an offer. JUST as a file clerk. But BOTH that I heard back from are full-time, full medical, dental, and vision benefits, and the one is 10 an hour, and 75% tuition assistance if I'm going to school part-time. The other is less tuition assistance, they'll cover 25%, and half if my GPA is high...so, my 4.0 is going to do me nicely. But they didn't talk about pay. They were saying minimum, but they want to take the time to consider paying me more than I made at GameStop, which was 10 an hour.

Liaison for an entertainment company here in Philadelphia. I have my interview this Thursday. Was supposed to be a group interview, orientation, etc, but they called me personally, asked for me to go in for an interview (It's still important for them to see how I do at the group interview and the orientation is mandatory anyway.) but if I do well with the group interview, I'm getting a second interview with them individually. I guess that looks good? I dunno. All I know is that they work in A WIDE variety of things. Their main thing is modeling and little reality TV shows involving that (but that's their national focus) what I'M being considered for is working as a liaison for the celebrities when they film locally, handling bands, both bigger bands for our local radio stations, and local bands, and my absolute FAVORITE prospect, working with the Flyers and public venues for them... This was another job I just applied for because I thought "Hey, I have my Disney internship on my resume, so..." Well, apparently my Disney and Marvel gigs weigh heavily. I really didn't think I mattered. (Hence why I've been HELLA busy the past few years. Had a lot more going on than I had time to talk about here.)

And those are the most interesting.

The other was an interview at a photography company. I got the job, but it's like 10 hours a month. It's one of those things that I did because it means I can charge more for my commissions.

And I have an interview at a local gym. I applied for things that I wanted, but also things that seemed more realistic. And pending on what job I land, I'm still considering the idea of more than one, if I'm lucky enough to choose. But if I get that entertainment gig, well, that's full-time, and a STARTING salary of 40k a year....

I'm going to wait before I say "all my hard work is finally paying off" with confidence. But seriously...the past few years, I hit the freaking ground running. I'm so tired. But I've been working my ass off. Sleep has taken a backseat. Shit. REST has taken a backseat. Since I started college it's been "Work, then run to school, study, get some more work done(commissions and shit.), back to class, run back to work, only to run home, take care of the house, family, online classes....etc....all of this has been done through much ailments, financial difficulty, family issues, and while maintaining a 4.0 GPA.

**dies**

If I'm bragging, I'm not sorry. None of this came naturally. I have worked VERY hard, sacrificed VERY much, and will continue to do so. :p

So...I'm a talent scout/agent, among other job responsibilities. And it's paying for the rest of my college. Full benefits, vacation, sick/personal days. Full-time.

Worked my ass off for a while...I think I can finally take a nap.

My whole family was just on the verge of losing everything. I'm diabetic with no way to take care of it. Have some heart problems. Plus I have that cancer girly problem...things were looking BAD...like, REALLY bad. I lost my mind and bitched about it once here, but...yeah...supposed to take 90 days for the benefits to kick in, but the help with the diabetes and heart disease is coming immediately, cuz it's being considered a special circumstance.

I breathed my first sigh in relief in years yesterday finally.

My salary is awesome...like...not awesome because it's more than my family has ever seen. But, awesome by awesome standards.

Holy shit.

Couldn't have put it better myself.

I think we can at the very least stray from Final Fantasy finally. We all love it so much anyway, and banners or not, we love FF so much that it's still obvious to newcomers. So Mega Man is refreshing.

Plus, banner nicely done. I love the "Tron" reference.

Yeah. "Oddball" classes are great for the resume, actually. Typically people go for a class that is either too easy and for the sake of it being so, or they stick to things too close to their major. When you take a course and display genuine interest in it and maybe even use your knowledge outside of your class....employers eat that shit up.

As I've been told. I'm a Plain Jane at times, so...

But again, congrats! When do you start?

US's healthcare system really does suck here. But ehh...

So far only two days on the job...

So, I can't give all the information away, but like...

I hung out with Bam Margera today. Like, hung out with. I've heard people say things like that if they just spent a minute or two...but...like...we literally hung out...and I was paid...

There are some perks with getting in the entertainment industry.

Yes, there are other factors of the meaning of the date that are important to me...but ever since grade school, 7th grade, I'd say, every year they spoke of the anniversary, it's always been kinda a custom of mind to chose a point to educate myself specifically upon. **shrugs**

Either way, it truly is a day of infamy. I'm proud of the fallen and the survivors.

I know I didn't go on a long rant like I usually do. Let's face it. I go off like an old man with random bouts of dementia.

But yeah, I think that's the inherent point about this whole advertisement (and the fact that the Brokeback Mountain reference is hilarious.) What he is saying can at least be sympathized with...understood, even if not agreed upon. BUT, the way it was said...

Ever since I saw the ad, it has not been tugging at my inner politician, but rather my knowledge and experience of the arts. This ad has garnered much confusion on my part. I have watched the ad over and over...and something about the WAY he paused after mention gays serving in the military, my mind has been racing. Did he pause like that on purpose? Did he WANT to incite the emotions this ad has already unleashed? Or was it all an accident? Did they have one too many attempts at this ad, and he's just a shitty actor; doesn't know how to add the proper emphasis to convey the right emotion. Because if that is the case, then was his real intention just to be like "Look, part A was considered shocking...and we fought for it and allowed it. Why can't we do the same with part B?"

And on the other angle...he came off as too pompous. Like he was disgusted with the fact that part A was allowed, but part B is not.

I could go on, but just...watch the ad again guys. Not even the whole thing. Just the part in the beginning. There is just something...unnatural about the whole thing. It's really difficult to tell what exactly he meant, or what happened. Some people are flat out idiots, and others are just...terrible, and I mean TERRIBLE at conducting themselves publicly. And sure, one can ask how someone like that can hold public office...but one can also combat that with "How can someone truly that dumb hold public office?" And I guess the answer is, some people are just dumb....and others are crippled by being in public. **shrugs**

(I have a lot of other points but I'd rather leave them for the debate shrine.)

Edit: Damn ninja posts. Hahaha.

Can we just reduce the reproduction habits of MY family then? I will have NO problem starting a ballot for that one...

(Yes, this ties into immigration ideas) I agree with the outsourcing idea though. I mean, I can understand WHY companies would want to SAVE money. I've always kinda attempted a little social experiment of making this an either/or thing though. Like, I'm not for taxing the rich more. I'm just not. And this is coming from a dirt poor democrat. I think we have a strong majority of people in this country who think corruption and wealth are one in the same....there's good and bad EVERYwhere. The people who held me up at gunpoint at GameStop, for example, are most likely just as poor as I am, and if not, the discrepancy isn't much. But I do NOT think that money earned should be taken from ANYone, just for the sake of taking it.

How this ties into immigration. "They Took Our Jobs" IS a problem, no matter HOW funny South Park made it. Why? Because no matter WHAT you tell the majority of this country, they believe it to be true. In some cases is it true? Honestly, yes. But it's not their fault. They're given shit jobs when the come over. Why? Because we have this "American Dream" to hold over their head...are things perfect here? Hell no. Do we still have it better than most of these immigrants have it in their home countries? Absolutely. And let's face it, there's certain jobs that would be more difficult to hand to someone who was born and raised here...the cycle goes on.

So this mentality of giving immigrants certain jobs because "Oh, they'll do it, and no one else will." if it's anyone's fault, it's just as much the fault of those already here. So there is no "THEY took our jobs." We're giving them too!

So...like Nelrith said...outsourcing is a problem. So, instead of taxing the wealthy for the sake of taxing them, therefore they don't need to "save" money, we should adapt a "With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility." mentality. I know, giving to the poor, supporting our country's welfare system could be viewed as such, I suppose, but, I don't think those things REALLY help. It should be the responsibility of our own citizens to maintain a higher standard of excellence and growth for our own country, as a whole. There should be certain outsourcing laws. I don't think that's an infringement upon our freedom. The more money these companies make, the less outsourcing they should be allowed to do. In turn, it'll provide more jobs for our citizens, which will at least dent, MAJORLY this problem with immigrants this country seems to have.

Side note, am I all for cracking down in illegal immigration? Fuck yeah. But legal immigration? That's just wrong. On so many levels.

I never once said it was punishing them. I simply brought up a sliver of the argument and applied it to the topic at hand. (Basically saying that the extra money they could be taxed could be used directly for other things, not just calling it a "tax" but I'll get into that.)

I'm going to make another thread and quote your post, Astrophel. You have a lot of good points, and I was considering making this a topic of it's own anyway, but you're really one of the few who has ever regurgitated back to me something I posted, so I didn't think there was much point if I did it. :p (Yes, I know I ramble, and that makes it difficult to follow. I'm not going emo here. Haha.) Because if I dispute here, or rephrase, because I don't think it was clear what I was trying to say, you still might not agree with me, but at least it'll be less misunderstood...but any who....don't want to stray entirely from this topic.

So, to clarify for the sake of this thread. Part of the issue with this whole immigration bit is this glorified "They Took Our Jobs!!!" mentality. I was suggesting the idea of rather than taxing the wealthiest just to tax them(I KNOW it's for important things, but again, this is a different topic), we come up with something to give incentive to limit outsourcing as much as possible. We all like to SAVE money, rich, poor, everything in the middle...those who became rich through their own intelligence and hard work, who started from the bottom and made their way up, won't just snap out of the "how do I save myself some costs" mentality. Outsourcing answers that question, unfortunately. It may not happen tomorrow, it may not happen anytime soon, sadly, but this taxing the wealthy issue is NOT going to go away. I'm for taking it to a point where it's not a "Well...maybe..." No. Either you pay more dues to your society ANYWAY, or you can save face. (Because that's what Republicans are all about it seems. Does republican mean rich? Not necessarily. But they're the ones against this "big government" idea of everyone chipping in.) Sometimes appealing to one another DOES produce the best results. They're presented with an ultimatum. Either get taxed more, or they see the numbers, and they're then encouraged to to use those numbers to decrease outsourcing instead. (For the sake of keeping this on topic, I'm leaving it at that.)

In turn, the problem of "outsourcing" is a good start toward this immigration problem. And by immigration problem...I mean people being pissed off about other people having a right to be here, despite the fact that they weren't born here. Might not exactly be the "start" but either way, tackling the issue with outsourcing will take a nasty chunk out of this argument at any point.

Dull title but whatever...You're going to have to check out the immigration thread to see my quoted post in full context, but the part Astrophel quoted directly pertains to this topic.

http://xeogaming.org/thread.php?pid=155425&r=1#155425

Now, originally, I left my opinions on taxing to my original quote for the sake of sticking to the original topic. For the sake of THIS topic, the key phrase is my last line in my statement.

I am not attacking anyone here, nor am I calling Astrophel out to "battle". If he didn't read my post like that, he wouldn't have added his input, which I think, is the best summary of the point of view I've heard.

For the sake of keeping this from being a 10 page essay, I'll leave it at this for now: put the focus on the actual issues these "taxes" will cover. Think outside the box. "Just for the sake of taking it" is how it easily comes across. Having more reason to elaborate here, my take on it is, work around that. Change the focus. I'll go into it more later, but I'm REALLY making an effort to work on this "rambling thing" I do. Don't just take the money in taxes and say "Trust me, it's going toward the greater good." Make it more interactive! Like the outsourcing idea.

To address Astrophel though, YES, 2k from someone making 20k a year is A LOT more than 2k coming from someone making 200k a year. But whether we like it or not, most of those making that 200k a year will always have something to scream and holler about, and obviously, there will be others who will look at those 200k people and say "bring it, we're still going to oppose you." But it's still a back and forth argument, and nothing is getting done. My general approach to politics in general has turned into "Get Shit Done" **shrugs** And whether your point of view, or mine, or anyone else's may be agreeable, it's not working. Fighting for higher or lower taxes is getting us nothing but opposition and bickering. There's pros and cons to everything, and the cons are screaming the loudest. Those in power either aren't hearing or they're just flat out not trying. Any new idea coming from myself, or anyone else might sound completely ridiculous, especially from the ground level. But if it gets people paying attention, and the cogs turning in the minds of those who can take "ridiculous" and turn it into something that gets done, then so be it. **shrugs** I think you're right. But it's not working. I want to take it further.

(edit: That "new idea" I was referring to was only briefly mentioned here. Making it more "interactive." combatting those who don't want the government to collect so they can distribute for the good of the country, who don't trust it. To say "Okay fine. So we're going to find a way to specifically apply the money you are taxed to *insert dealie here*, that way you see exactly where it's going and what it's doing." **shrugs** I think people have a right to that anyway. In theory, that's how taxing is supposed to work anyway, but it doesn't...something I'll elaborate more upon in another post. Again, working on the rambling. )
