"You bastard..." Kara mumbled as she staggered into the station, clinging on to her cousin for dear life. Brian Winchester laughed as he jerked Kara around as much as he could while they were walking up the stairs.

The night before, Kara finally caved. That Friday, as she was leaving the office, she was pulled aside and greeted with news of receiving a job. Up until that point, Kara was interning with the law office as an assignment, and keeping herself afloat in school through scholarships and waitressing on the side. Now, she was getting paid for the observing and paperwork she completed throughout the week, and much more than she was as a waitress.

Rather than going directly home that night, Kara took the train to where Brian worked and presented him with the news. Almost immediately, he took her to the restaurant she worked at to let them know.

I was so scared to tell them I was quitting... Kara thought as her mind wandered back to that night. But her fellow co-workers had done nothing but cheer her on and wish her well. Her manager even offered soup on the house for the nights they "worked her too hard."

After that, the weekend seemed to spiral downward. Friday night their apartment was flooded with their college friends, most of which were Brian's of course. Kara was too shy and into her work to make that many friends in the short time she and her cousin attended college together.

All Kara wanted to do that night was relax, but she knew she brought this upon herself.

"I should have waited until Monday to tell you..." she muttered, glancing up at him angrily with her brown eyes.

It wasn't that she never drank before...but she never drank excessively. She was able to hold out until Saturday night, when some of Brian's friends talked her into sharing a drink with them, to celebrate her accomplishments. Reluctantly she agreed, but agreed nonetheless. After that, it was a night of drinking games, shot glasses, and even a few bets. She hadn't fallen asleep...rather, she passed out, until about two hours before they stood in the station now.

Brian, who had probably not slept at all, gleefully woke his cousin up with a pot of ice cold water, telling her it was a beautiful Sunday morning and that he wanted to take her out. Really, Kara knew, Brian was just torturing her in her hung over state, something she wouldn't forget for a long time, she promised herself.

The walk to the station wasn't so bad, but that was because the sun wasn't quite awake yet either. However, now, the sound of people running about and trains moving was proving to be quite the headache.

Brian smiled as he looked down at his drowsy cousin. Already she was breaking out in a cold sweat. "Just you wait Kara. The sun will be up when our train leaves the station. You'll feel better then. The light will do ya good!" He exclaimed.

Again Kara found herself groaning and cursing him under her breath. "Bright lights and a train...just what I need asshole..."

Haven't been good with advice in a LOOONG time (IF I ever was...) and since the situation has been generalized, all I'm going to say is pull your head outta your butt if you have to. I just did...I knew I had to for the longest time, and every time I thought I did, and things got better, it turned out they were only the surface of things, and deep down, things were still wrong. I think I got it right now, because it seems like things are getting better from the under the surface on up.

I really hope I'm making sense here, but...and correct me if I am misjudging something here, by all means...but it seems like things are up and down quite often with you, and I think I can identify with that...and if it is true, then yeah...the best advice I can give you is to sit down, take a deep breath, and think. Try your best to map out some sort of plan, might not go through, but it's a start. Xeo, for example, from what I can tell, has had some issues, and he's doing something about it now, with the therapy. Just try your best to come up with some options for yourself to make things better, then, once you have a starting ground, snag those that are close to you, swallow your pride, and ask for help. Then LET them help...something I sure as hell have difficulty with.

Otherwise...as long as you do your very best to be the best that you can be, and to do the best that you can...you're only human. Not much more can be asked of you. So, if things are bad, it's okay. As long as you try, things can get better...and if they get bad again, which they will, that's okay too...it happens, we just have to adapt and pick ourselves up again...I don't know many older people who can't say they've had to do that with themselves many times, so...it's alright.

Wow...things are finally making sense...I don't know much about either group, so when I saw this thread before, it was like "Erm....huh?"

A co-worker of mine went down center city on the 10th to protest it....**shrugs** Kinda interesting.

Nina screamed. Eddie's sudden outburst shook her to no end. Even after she realized what had happened, and who was holding the weapon, her hands still quivered.

"Eddie..." she whispered.

Nina shook her head, glancing back and forth from Eddie to Nathaniel, and then around to everyone else in the van. She knew Eddie had his way of knowing, so she didn't doubt him for one moment. She did, however, hold her breath, frozen in place, not knowing what to do now.

hmmm....even though it was the day before, my boyfriend presented me with a Darth Vader Keychain, green MnM's, Spiderman candy, and pink bunny-peeps.

Why was it so cool? Because I SOOOOOO wasn't expecting it, and...dude...Darth Vader Keychain...zomg.

I never cared for Valentine's Day...always seemed so one-sided. "But for the women." I mean, yes, I will appreciate anything that is handed to me, but...I don't know...it just doesn't sit right that people like my sisters just expect stuff to be handed to them.

My mom and Step-Dad celebrate Valentine's Day, but that's only because it's their anniversary. My boyfriend and I did the whole "agreeing not to celebrate" the day, but I had a really bad day today, and with the exception of the keychain, the candy was only V-Day stuff because that's like ALL you'll find in stores right now. And in return, I made him let me hold a door for him and pull out the chair.

so um...Xei? Cai?

I win.

This is going to be great. I came home and the first thing my pop did was show me the trailer.

What I like about it is, it's obviously after the other films. Like, they're not trying to make Harrison look like he's a 30 year old man. Indy even makes cracks on his aging!

"I thought that was closer." Haha!

What pisses me off most is that it's usually the people who say they were picked on as a kid. Yes, kids can be cruel. And yes, even though as adults, we can look at the things kids do and say they're no big deal, which in reality, what the kids say to you and most of the stuff they do isn't a big deal...but it doesn't mean it feels any better for you as a kid, and because you're so young and without understanding of the fact that life moves on outside of elementary school, the feeling still sucks.

But still...I have no sympathy for people who go on rampages like that. Might be a nasty, close-minded thing to say, but it's how I feel about it until something convinces me otherwise. I was teased. Shit, there were times where I had NOWHERE to go. Abusive household and a different form of abuse at school. And I was too young to have the resources to venture outside those environments. I'm sure there are MANY people who have gone through things like that, even here on Xeogaming, and not all of those people are out there acting out like that, saying they need to kill people in schools because they were picked on. It's just...

Now, I know they said they haven't found a motive...and I may be totally off in my assessment of motive, but as far as this topic in general goes, yes, it was usually those picked on.

As far as blaming this on video games is concerned...I that's a different debate.

It just sucks that this is somewhat of a "norm" now. Sad too. Everything's being disrupted! There was an incident in one of my classes last week. My sociology professor and the english class before our's work closely together, and a lot of the people are in both classes. Apparently, there was a paper written for my sociology class that the english class was letting them use for their assignment, or something like that. Anywho, there was this big uproar because something suspicious was written in the paper. The English class was canceled midway through, and when it came time for sociology, we ended up being canceled too, since both teachers needed to handle the situation.

I mean, that is NOTHING compared to VT, and all of the other incidents. My professor told us that in reality it wasn't THAT big of a deal, it's just something they were obligated as teachers, in light of all of this school violence, to handle with caution and investigate the issue. But that's the thing...my class was canceled, and it's an advanced course, you miss one, you're screwed. So now there's an inconvenience at my school...I'm sure at others as well. Parents have other reasons now to be nervous about sending their babies away...it's just...I mean, it just sucks all over, and my heart breaks for those parents and the students involved in those tragedies. I'd take a minor inconvenience over that any day.

I hear ya on that one...Like, even when I was a kid, probably the only reason why I grew to appreciate stuff like that is because I was introduced to it at an early age and there was much enthusiasm over certain things while I was still like UBER impressionable. XD

My nieces and nephews LOVE the stuff I'm into, but that's probably because I've done the same. My oldest nephew even called me up on his own and said he was taking me to see the new Indy movie. It comes out in May, near my birthday...near his too though, so we're fighting over who's taking who now, but like...he's still enthused about it. And then comes home with his mind boggled because his little school friends are trying to get him into things filled with "repeated, pointless story lines, and talentless actors" as he put it. XD

Like, get this...everybody here knows, I'm sure it's safe to assume, of Sean Connery's greatness, right? Well my nephew and I have been musing over how awesome it would be if he was in this Indy film. He comes home from school one day and was shocked as he told me how his classmates either didn't know who he was, or even turned their noses up at the name, saying he's old!

FX, you and I must team up someday to restore Hollywood's former greatness.

Well, in all honesty, video games CAN be blamed...but so can MANY other things, ya know? Kids are impressionable, so sure, they might see something from a video game that may distort their vision of reality. They're kids! Anything can distort their perception of reality. Raising a child isn't just black and white though, which is why I get so angry when people blame just one thing.

Like Cyro mentioned about not really knowing who to blame...parents, schools, etc.

Basically, what I mean is video games can be blamed, but if people are going to say it's because they present graphic images and such...well...isn't that called media? I just can't see blaming one thing without looking at other things. Video games present violent images...but so does television, movies, books, etc...therefore, those violent images are in a way, unavoidable, so now this leads to the parents being the ones that are in charge of filtering such things, and explaining that those things aren't real. But without those images, there's nothing for a parent to filter...to me, it's one big cycle, so really, one thing can't be blamed for the other.

Didn't mean to turn this into a video game debate...but...it can link to the topic at hand. **shrugs**

Oh, and btw, I'm not knocking video games. Without them, I wouldn't be receiving a paycheck right now, aside from the fact that I just love them.

Ch'yah, just saw the trailer for this last night. Looks pretty fricken sweet. My boyfriend has been talking about this for AGES, but he's also the only 20 year old I know with over 1000$ worth of accumulated action figures around his room, not really concealing his love of marvel too much, to say the least.

I was never too into comics. They're cool, but I just never had the opportunity. So, even if everybody says it turns out to be a flop, won't really affect me too much. I love most of the super hero movies that have been coming out over the past few years. **shrugs** I have nothing to compare them to other than what is presented on the Big Screen.

(Batman is the exception, however. My brother-in-law has a lot of the comics from when he was a kid and I've read all the ones he has. I also was into all the different TV shows, even the old one. )

I REALLY liked Rambo though...and in Mr. Stallone's defense...it's his career, these are his biggest movies. A lot of these great people are doing things like this because...well, they want to. They've done their time. The ones that are still throwing in things later in their career are probably just trying to enjoy themselves, or end projects they've worked so hard on with a note that satisfies THEM. **shrugs**

Which, in a way, if that sorta happens to this Indy film...Sure, I'll be disappointed as a fan, but as someone who aspires to have a career such as directing, I know I would like to be in that position someday. Having put my time in and saying "Hey guys. I really hope you like it, because this is what I want to do." But not be too heart broken if people disliked something. I gotta have respect for people who end their career like that. Ending it just as they started. Doing something they dreamed of.

Cailyn Gaeta nodded as she listened intently as Captain Smith laid out their task. Her fingers were laced together, balancing on her knees that she hunched over. Her blue eyes gazed up at Smith as she rested her chin upon her hands.

When she was first given the assignment, Cailyn fell out of her chair laughing. She didn't think it was serious. A joke to be played on the new kid. However, minutes later, she found herself on her way to Virginia. Cailyn's father, Zachary Gaeta, who was first called upon, but was unable to accept the job. They turned to his daughter on his recommendation.

Now, she sat in the van, still in disbelief.

When she opened the manual, just as they were told. She did not flinch, as the grotesque images flashed themselves before her.

Just as the debriefing finished, Cailyn closed her book and looked up at Captain Smith with her blue eyes and nodded. They were sent there so quickly, there was no time for research, but she knew that her task would come into play later. Those pictures and phone calls would be important to her.

The moment Nathaniel snatched the gun out of Eddie's fingers, Nina grabbed Eddie roughly by the shoulder and shoved him back. Taking his place, she eyed Nathaniel angrily.

"Take us home. Now. He doesn't want to be part of this. He's been through enough trauma!"

Even so...now, I still have yet to see this entire movie, but, the bits and pieces that I have seen...I've seen something I'm assuming is close to the end, since the monster's face beats down into the camera (sorry those who have not seen it, but c'mon people, you GOTTA see the sonuvabitch SOMEtime!) even though it's slightly blurry, it's still decent...and, maybe I'm alone here, but I actually find this monster to be pretty terrifying.

Edit: An aside--I do still feel this is something Hollywood needed. So far, I'd say it's 50/50 between those who absolutely LOVED the film, and those that absolutely HATED the film. Even if people hate it, there's still hype. People are angry and the angst for something glamorous out of Hollywood seems a little stronger these days (especially with the highly anticipated release of the next Indiana Jones film)

Cailyn shot Agent Wyett a cold stare. She took in a deep breath, however, to refrain from commenting. She knew he was correct. Not everyone in the van looked prepared to be on the field, herself included, and he had every right to know who could fire a gun and who couldn't.

Slowly and silently, she exhaled her breath, shifting her position in her seat, but not saying a word. any questions she may have would come later, when it came time for her write ups of everything she observed. No sense asking things that didn't exist now.
