Creativity: 9/10

Very creative story, I was expecting vampires, and was pleasantly suprised when I found out it was something different.

Spelling:10/10

Why spelling is on here, I have no idea. I assume you ran this through microsoft word before plublishing, so spelling is perfect.

Grammar: 8/10

A few repetitions here and there, and a bit of bad comma placement. Very good overall, but not yet perfect.

Character: 8/10

A bit underdeveloped, but it's a short story, and your characters did their job, no real need for critisizm, though I'd have liked to know a bit more about his life before the town, but it's not really important in the end.

Plot:7/10

Your plot was mostly good, but sadly it was your weakest area. There were a few plot holes, such as why your main character never got suspicious when he didn't see any other people. It was good, but it could use a bit of touching up.

Overall: 42/50.

A good story, but a bit of editing and touching up probably could have made it great. Also, I'm not sure about your date system, it's unique, and it does the job, but it sort of throws off the flow of your story. I'm not going to alter your rating because of it, but I think it could have been better managed.

Sorry if I seemed a bit more critical than the other reviewers, but I don't think you'll mind the extra bit of advice on how to write it. Definitely better than your entry in the last contest, by the way.

You can find a weekly article by him here, www.hatrack.com. You can find his articles on the left side.

But anyway, it's things like this that make me think Orson Scott Card is awesome.

Trivia: I used to go to the same church as Scott Card, and saw him every sunday. My dad also worked as his lawyer at one point.

Creativity: 8/10

When I read through it, at first I though it wasn't going to be original at all, but then that plot twist at the end showed suprised me. Good work on this.

Spelling: 10/10

I haven't even bothered checking for spelling, if I didn't catch it while reading normally, I don't care about it.

Grammar: 8/10

Not much horribly noticable, just a couple awkward sentences, and a few places where what you're trying to say doesn't really work.

Plot: 7/10

This may just be my own personal preference, but I'm not completely sure about your plot. It just seemed sort of random that his best friend betrayed them, and yet, only the main character could lead the villians to the wizards.

Character: 7/10

None of the characters seemed to have a clear motivation for what they were doing, and while the torturer was a fairly dramatic character. The main one was a bit stereotypical. Understandable if you wrote this in only an hour though.

Total: 40/50

That's actually far more true than you know. Have you read the Homecoming series? It's a pretty good sci-fi series, but it's also like a science fiction version of the first two books in the Book of Mormon.

And I mean REALLY similiar, right down to people's names(not identical, but similiar, like he used Nafai instead of Nephi.)

It's still an awesome series though, highly reccomended.

There might not be too many entries, but from what I've seen, all of them are really good. I haven't seen one get a rating below 40/50.

Pretty impressive.

I've actually discussed her writing abilities a lot with people, Cairoi, and I came to a firm conclusion...

She's a decent writer, and that helps, but that's not what makes her books good and popular. But, she's not a great writer.

The thing that makes her good is her storywriting abilities, and her ability to develop characters. Tolkien was a great writer, Homer was a great writer, and a lot of other people were great writers. However, where Tolkien couldn't attact as huge of an audience with his great writing, Rowling did it with her good storytelling.

I'm not insulting Tolkien, by the way, he's awesome, and undoubtedly one of my favorite authors(though I haven't enjoyed much of his beyond the Hobbit and LOTR.)

I just think that Rowling did better with her characters and storytelling, even though I was disappointed when she killed off about ten different characters in the last 200 pages of the 7th book, slightly annoying.

Actually, Elara, your score would be 48, all added together, not 49.

Anyway, on to the judging!

Creativity: 9/10

Not hugely original, but it was a good take on the effects of the mafia.

Spelling: 10/10

I didn't spot any grammatical errors, nor did I check, so I'll just give you the 10.

Grammar: 7/10

Sadly, this is your wekest spot. I'm not sure that I could call it grammar, exactly, more like the writing style which got a bit annoying. Also, there were a couple places where your character's thoughts weren't in quotes. Just a bit more diting probably would have made it a lot better.

On a side note, you reall improved it with what editing you did right after you posted it, good job with that, but it's not yet to perfection.

Character: 7/10

Stereotypical naive child. I would have given you an eight, but then I read that little sentence about how in 1952 they didn't believe children's excuses(not exactly character, but I couldn't figure out where else to put it.). Hate to say it, but time hasn't made people trust children any more. If it were a different excuse, I probably would have hiven an 8.

Plot: 8/10

Pretty good plot, not horribly complicated, and not a lot happens, but for a story this short, that's alright.

Total: 41/50

Pretty good, really, but with some touching up, and perhaps watching for a few things that could make the writing have more flow, it could be a lot better.

I looked through...everywhere, and I discovered something disturbing...You all don't have a thread on Blood+!

Anyway, I started whating this anime about a week ago, and it is awesome. Right now, it's rivalling Trigun as my favorite anime(I'm only 17 episodes into it, so it may overtake Trigun).

Anyway, has anyone else seen this, if so what are your thoughts on it?

Yeah, I actually saw episode one and then took a fairly long break too, the first episode didn't really grab me that much.

However, then I watched the second episode, and I loved it.

I just watched four episodes in a row, and I'm still continuing. What fun.

I haven't watched Ghost in the Shell(except for one of the movies), but I hear it's really good too, and is next on my list of anime to watch.

Read this before posting or reading forward: http://www.xeogaming.org/announcement.php

Alright, now that you've all read this, what are your thoughts on what Xeo should do?

Here's my opinion...

Stop doomsaying, please. Right now, almost everyone on the board has exams at school, a busy summer vacation, or something else that's going on, this REALLY isn't a good time to measure activity.

Second, half the board still doesn't know that Xeogaming is back! PM the users that go to other boards, alter the links to Xeogaming on other websites, do general things like that.

Third off, if you're tired of running Xeogaming, like you're saying, then I KNOW you won't have trouble finding someone else. As you said in the announcement, you've heard that a million times, but the fact is, it's true. Any of the admins I'm sure would be glad to take over, or any of the staff really. Seriously, worst case scenario, and I'LL take over Xeogaming, I even already know where I'd host it.

Finally, Xeo, you've been posting announcements or threads like this since I first joined Xeogaming. Whenever there's a period of slow activity, which coincedentally is usally around the beginning of summer and winter, you post a thread in staff, or an announcement saying that Xeogaming is going to die.

Are we dead yet?

I think not.

So, please, stop with all of this. I know you're feeling stressed out, but don't worry about it. We've chugged along quite a distance, and we'll keep going. Sure, it won't be super 5,000,000 posts a day, but it doesn't have to be. Xeogaming right now is a place where many friends talk to each other about a number of different things, and getting rid of it will do more than just hurt you, it will hurt all of the people on Xeogaming.

On a side note, I'd like to say that you STILL get more activity than a few other message boards I've been on. There was one board where getting 10 posts a day was a HUGE accomplishment. So, stop saying that Xeogaming is dead.

Anyway, that's all I have to say. Other people, post.

And no one suggest a reboot, I've never seen a board do well after that.

Name: George Solomon
Code name if any: Rehoboam(bonus points to anyone who knows who that name also belongs to.)
Age: 27
Race: Human
Race Category: Normal.
Organization: Demon slayers.
Organization Branch: Black Ops
Hair: Dark brown.
Eyes: Also brown.
Skin tone: Not brown, just highly tanned.
Outfit: Depends on the mission, nothing very advanced, bust he does like to where kevlar when possible. When not on a mission, he prefers to wear a black dress suit.
Abilities: Is very skilled with a shotgun, and also very fast. In college, he was the fastest on his winning team of track runners.
Brief History: George doesn't have anything that special about him. He went to college at Duke University, where he played basketball(though he certainly wasn't one of the best on the team). He at first worked on a major in chemistry, but found himself bored with his current lifestyle.

At this point, he transferred to the Naval Academy, where he joined the Marines. He clearly shined among his men, and was eventually contacted by the Demon Slayers, for his skills.

After this, George disappeared from the public eye, working to fight demons with the DS. After only a year with them, he has performed well, and was transferred from Enforcement to Balck Ops, where his is currently stationed.

Very good post Rogue, I approve strongly.

Anyway, also on what you said about the staff forum not getting much posts recently, Xeo, that's a GOOD thing.

Lookat all the threads. How amyn of them are about super genius awesome ideas? I can count one or two recently, and less recently, there are even less happy posts.

In other words, we post in the staff forum when bad things are happening, and there's not much need of it when good things are happening unless there are contests, sprees, awards, or whatever else.

So yeah, don't complain about that, no staff has hugely active staff forums. Anything we usually say, we say in general

I'm a republican, so I think that they should keep tearing each other apart as long as they can, so that McCain can move in.

But anyway, seriously, I don't think that she's going to drop it. I'd be suprised if she stood a chance now, but she's not going to leave it.

So, I read an interview on CNN(it's lost now), where McCain was asked who he wanted as VP.

"Dwight Schrute!" he quickly piped up.

Anyone who doesn't know who Dwight Schrute is, need to die a horrible death of lemons.

Bad idea, remember what happened to Interviews when it turned into a subforum?

That's right, a year later, people STILL thought that interviews had stopped for a long time. No one really notices sub-forums enough for us to have one. Instead, I think that we should just merge it with another forum.

I also just realized that General has never undergone a name change...let's do it!
