"Who said we'd joined any fucking team?" Rhyven snarled, his temper starting to
get the better of him. "I'm not doing jack until someone tells me what the hell is
going on here."

He glared at Alexander, wanting desperately to throttle the information out of the
man but he forced himself to keep his hands to himself. To occupy himself he lit
another cigarette.

I would except you know better than anyone how horribly poetry and I get along.

It twists my brain.

Rhyven glares at the newest yahoo to join this group of miscreants and takes a
long and deliberate drag on his cigarette.

"Who're you?" he asks, aware of Ryah's hand on his shoulder and doing his best
to hold in his temper.

Meanie. Not even gonna try to give me a little encouragement *pouts*

Nah, I know I suck at poetry. Though the one poem I ever wrote actually was
second favorite published in a school literary magazine. *shrugs*

Rhyven glowers and chews on the end of a cigarette that he desperately wishes
to light. "My names Rhyven, I kill vampires."

He paused thoughtfully and his eyes slid to Ryah, "I guess I should say I kill...
bad vampires?" He didn't seem sure of the adjective. "Basically if they hurt people, I kill them.

I know I didn't start this and it's just slightly not the same topic but...

does anyone know a good torrent client? I need to find that before I can start
downloading torrents right? At least that's as far as I understand.

Little help would be awesome.

Makura is unable to have access to the internet for a few more days as far as I understand. Give it a little and she'll probably be back.

Rhyven glares at the strange room. "Well this is just boring," he mutters, lighting
yet another cigarette.

"Can we move on to the part where someone tells us why the fuck we're here?"

Been watching Bleach and Samurai Champloo lately. Also started rewatching,
Yu Yu Hakusho from episode one even though I've seen every episode at least
a half a dozen times. (there's over 90 episodes.)

This is by far one of the greatest things I have ever seen. It's intelligent, well written,
funny as hell and it actually makes perfect sense from a scientific standpoint if
you think about it.

I'm going to print this and take it to my philosophy teacher to see what she thinks about the whole thing.

I smoke. On occasion I look like an ever pluming chimney, to quote Venomous
Lobster. I've been trying to quit recently but it's not been going well.

I managed for a couple months then caved and haven't done too well since.

The thing that most of you aren't getting is that it's NOT a joke. It's an answer,
written by a college student on a college level chemistry mid term.

Now the answer was funny in some respects but it was also really well written.
I love the interpretation the writer used for the different aspects needed to calculate
the exothermic or endothermic properties of Hell.

My question though is what grade did the teacher give for that answer?

ok so the "Q33 NY" thing resulted in seeing aplane, a bunch of lines that I
assume are supposed to represent buildings, a skull and cross bones, and a
Pagan symbol.

... ... ... ...

I'm not getting anything here. Someone however obviously had WAY too much
time on their hands.

The Jewish Star, or Star of David is actually composed of two ancient pagan
symbols. The upside down triangle is a symbol representing femininity. A right
side up triangle represents masculinity. The two placed on top of each other
makes the Star of David.

A few things. First. Geeogree, I must point out that you broke the first rule of
this debate. You just jumped in with your opinion without first defining your
understanding of the term "opinion."

Second. I believe an opinion to be a belief held by an individual.

Third. Spartan. As I've been learning in my critical thinking class, questioning
someones opinion about something is actually a good thing. Now if one
actually ATTACKS someones opinion that's one thing, but calmly debating and
questioning is a good basis for conversation. Also, the questioning of beliefs is
the most important part of critical thinking.

That's what Socrates was actually most famous for. Someone would state a
belief or opinion and he would then question it until he poked out all the holes in
their arguments and either proved their belief was incorrect, or at the least could
use some redefining, or shown that their belief was correct.

And on a sort of moral debate Spartan, are people really completely entitled to
their own opinion? It's a murky and dangerous area of critical thinking called,
"Subjectivism." Say I am of the opinion that to me murdering anyone over the age
of 60 is perfectly morally right and aceptable. I mean they're old anyway, make
room for new generations.

If I hold that opinion, does that make it right?

on a side note, I LOVE a good debate. =)

The attacks in caps was meant to stress the difference between a person
attacking someone elses position or opinion for no reason than to be malicious,
as opposed to have a discussion for the sake of discussion.

go back to Master Desroths first post where he specifically states, "first post
should at least say what you think an opinion is, stating facts and such."

Morality cannot not also be defined simply by decribing it as an adherence to
authority. Frequently a moral choice defies authority. Let me ask you a
question we were debating in my class.

Is homosexuality immoral?

The Illuminati and the Freemasons were, and, in the case of the masons, still are,
influential and powerful groups in the world. The Illuminati are most likely a defunct
organization but that doesn't mean they didn't at one time exist.

I understand that your points wasn't trying to say they never existed, just that
they most likely were not conspiring to rule the planet.

On a side note, anyone ever seen that Mel Gibson movie Conspiracy Theory?

Good movie, everyone that hasn't seen it should check it out.

The point of a good conspiracy is that there's no way to prove it, if you can prove
the existence of a conspiracy then that means that they fucked up somewhere
along the way. I like conspiracys in a 'what if' kinda way. But not taking them too seriously.

Venomous's point about throwing out the books and cd's wasn't about if you
don't do drugs you can't appreciate the material, it was more answering the
question of what would society be like WITHOUT the use of any drugs at all.

I've done pot on a few occasions, maybe a little more than a few. I smoke
cigarettes and I drink on occasion. I like to smoke, (cigarettes) I like to drink,
in moderation. Weed can also be a lot of fun. I have found however that if I've been
drinking and I cough from weed smoke I WILL be violently ill. High as a kite but ill.
The coolest thing to me about weed is almost everything is funny.

If one is cautious about one's recreational pursuits than all's good.

Just like alcohol though anything taken to excess is bad. I have only once ever
been what I would call HAMMERED. Just flat out drunker than any human being
should ever be. I can't remember about 6 hours of that night. (my 21st birthday
by the way.)

I still enjoy getting drunk on occasion. I never drink with the purpose of getting
drunk but if I happen to get a little messed up it's all fun as long as I'm with friends
that can help.

Okay, this is an idea that a while back I had drawn into a comic book. Came out
pretty good too. This is gonna be a VERY small RP. Three or four people at the
most. I will not be playing a character myself.

The basic premise is you are living on a small planet at one of the outer arms of
the Andromeda spiral galaxy. Humans settled it some three thousand or so years
previously after a millenia long trip through space, fleeing a war ravaged Earth.

The one thing that they had not coutned on when they arrived at their destination
was the eventual discovery of a strange black crystal-like formation which led to
the later development of their police force.

The police on Olith, (the planets name) are known as Shards, and they are kept
separate from the general populace. All Shards are recruited at the age of 15, they
are recruited from the children of other Shards and no, they do not get a choice
about enlisting.

You, are going to be a Shard. You are five years old at present, the story will
progress after the elistment.

All character ideas should be submitted to me in a PM, give characters name,
gender and what you would like to do with the character in the future as he or she
groes and developes into an adult. Also state whether you are happy to be enlisted
or are they going to have to drag you kicking and screaming the whole way?

Edit: Sorry the age is 15, not the five I'd put in before. Your character will be 15
years old during the first few posts, then you'll be 23
