I guess that's the difference between just believing in something and actually living it

you can claim to be Christian all you want but that doesn't make you one. I could claim to be anything I wanted to but my actions speak louder than my words in determining whether I am actually what I claim to be.

fair enough.... but just because other people don't believe what I do doesn't mean I'm not allowed to be happy about and enjoy Christmas. I'm free to do so. And yes others are free to be unhappy about it, but I just don't see the point.

well, we did already kind of go over a lot of that. We realize that Bin Laden may not have a lot of influence and it is possible that she isn't muslim and we have sort of moved on in the discussion.

And yeah, I do agree.... regardless of religion, she could use more clothing

I think that verse is used out of context all the time

I don't think it means that you can't make any sort of judgements about someone you meet. You have to. How are you supposed to pick a wife/husband without making some judgements about them? Or how are you supposed to pick friends that are going to be good? If you can't judge, then who are we to stop being friends with someone?

what that verse really means (in my opinion) is that you have no right to judge whether someone is going to heaven or hell. You are not God. You don't have all the facts about that person so you have no way to know for sure that persons position and relationship with God.

That's just my opinion .

wow. Canada got 80/100 which is called A-....

not sure how... the Canadian flag is pretty boring/plain. I'd even say the American is more interesting. The stars mean something .

well, it's true.... who are we to decide that?

we don't know if she is a full fledged Muslim, or just some girl living in America.

and in the end what does it matter? God/Allah/whoever will sort it out in the end.... or if there is no sorter... then it doesn't matter

I think Vulkar needs to take a psychology course.

there is always choice. Some choices are easier than others. And some choices don't make any sense. And some things after a while cease to be choices.

I chose to reply in this thread. I've also chosen several times not to. Were those actually choices or not? What changed that made me reply now and not before?

Am I choosing to reply now because condiations changed that made me want to post or was I destined at some time before now to post at this instant?

In my mind if I can even consider the possibility that I don't have a choice then I must have a choice because I'm considering whether I have one or not.

Vulkar: so you're saying that because I thought it I didn't choose?

that's fucked up

vulkar: you obviously don't understand the religion we belong to.

it doesn't matter if God knows what choice we make. According to what we believe he knows everything that has and will happen. Does that mean we don't choose? No. We make every choice that is presented before us. But that doesn't prevent him from being able to know what we are going to choose and what will result from it.

He has the capacity to understand the impact of a choice for 1000's of years. Let's say two people get married. They can have kids or not. They can have 3 or 5. God knows the impact of every child forever.

How could God say we have the freedom to choose if the choice has already been made? It goes against what you and I believe.

uhm.... I didn't know this was still a debate. Jesus lived. And he died. There is evidence in historical writings (non-biblical "pagan" writings) that Jesus was a real person. Christian and non-Christian scholars both agree that a man named Jesus lived in the time period that the Bible says. They don't agree on what he did while he was alive (only the Bible and gnostic writings tell anything about his life) or all the circumstances surrounding his death, but there isn't much debate on whether he lived.

Seems like a pointless attempt at attacking the Catholic Church

under those circumstances I don't see how she could claim that

it's not like she invited a friend to come along (to save on gas by not taking 2 cars) or something.

the baby is stuck inside her.... it goes where she goes... and even if it was a toddler I still wouldn't say she should be able to use the car pool lane.

oh, I agree with you Katana....

I only stated that it was a terrible excuse for the situation. The baby/fetus etc inside of her is definitely alive and such, but just doesn't seem reasonable to use for the carpool lane.

well, I agree that it is scientifically impossible now, but if you could show someone in the 18th century a TV you would probably get killed for being "evil".

A lot has changed in the last 100 years, who knows how much more could change in the next 50.

I'm just saying we may not know how or understand how to do it now, but it could be possible in 50 years.

well, if we are talking about ethics then no, they shouldn't be allowed to use "fake blood" on you without your consent.... especially since it sounds like they are still testing it to make sure it works....

I'd want a few more tests done before they started pumping that stuff into my body. And I would love if this fake blood works and can be made in large quantities cause then I won't feel obligated to get stabbed every once in a while to save lives and such

the big deal? what if the blood doesn't take and your heart stops beating properly and then you die because of it.... that's gonna suck.

Yeah, we all die eventually.... but most people want to postpone that day until some time in the future

well, to be totally honest I like this board more than Vizzed eventhough many of the members of Vizzed are politically and religiously more closely related to me than most of you guys are.

However, I've never enjoyed this. I always feel happier when I'm more of an outsider than an insider into the main group. I'd rather argue my point to a large group that disagree than to a large group that is just going to kiss my ass when I say anything.

I don't grow when people just agree, at least here I get to hear other opinions and points of view to a situation and I can have a more overall idea of what people think instead of just hearing people agree with my opinions all the time.
