| I have noticed quite the opposite. As of late I have seen a lot of clever, funny commercials on TV.
In fact commercials are usually my favourite part of watching television, all of the actual programming is just so mindless and stupid. And, so what if the advertisment doesn't actually have to do with the product being advertised? People always make a generalization about commercials and just think that all of them are stupid and pointless. Well sure, there are a lot of them that are, but if you actually take the time to pay attention to some of them, you might notice that plenty of them are cleverly made. And that Olive Garden commercial does exactly what it's meant to. It promotes a sense of family, they want you to associate the Olive Garden restaurante with family. Hence the slogan from those commercials. Not that that advertisment is particularly entertaining, clever, or funny. But, you have to appreciate the way the companies crafted it to persuade the viewer, to make the viewer associate their product, or in that case, restaurante with a certain feeling or subject. There are plenty of clever advertisments out there on TV too. One of my personal contemporary favourites is the Comcast one, where the guy is literally writing a giant check and it says "Stop writing those giant checks to the phone company." That is undeniably clever in both conception and execution. I myself personally, love commercials. Even the ones that aren't clever, or the ones that have nothing to do with the product. I appreciate them for the work that went into them, and the techniques that these companies use to try and make people feel a certain way. So, next time you see a commercial on television, actually watch it. You might notice things that you hadn't noticed before. |

I would be using AE Torture, but the window that pops up each time I go to a page is really, really annoying. I would use that if someone could remove that for me. |

| That's the purpose of a debate. To question things, and then discuss them in a civilized manner.
Me, I'm an Atheist, but I don't mind religion. I just think that it has a tendency to spawn prejudice and hatred. Aside from that, it can be a good thing sometimes. And, as I've already said, I simply believe that people go wherever they believe they are going to go when the die. So in a sense, I believe that people go to heaven or hell when they die, but only if they believe they will. Therefore, non-believers would not, because as their name would suggest. They don't believe. |
