| So I finally saw it today. I thought it was quite good actually... a few things I thought were laughably predicable (hitting the button), but it was in a good way. Spoiler: I think the best argument for the change is that in the comic the "alien" only attacks New York, whereas in the movie ending all major cities in the world are attacked, thus giving better reason for countries to band together against a common foe. I think it would be easier to do what they did in the movie than to make that many aliens and have them all attack like that |

| I'm nearly done with my BA and planning to move to the other side of the country for graduate school and my career. It is terrifying in a way because I never ever thought I would find myself leaving the state.
I've also matured quite a bit, though it has taken quite a few nasty bumps on the road of life for it to happen. Also, moved out of the house finally, which has been a major step for me and I am really loving my freedom. |

| So, President Obama came to southern California today for a two-day trip. There was a town hall style meeting in Costa Mesa (in Orange County) today (listened to it on the radio) and there will be another in Los Angeles tomorrow. He's also going to be appearing on Jay Leno's show, I think it tapes tonight and airs tomorrow night but I need to double check. It will be the first time that a sitting president has made an appearance on a late night show, so I think that will be worth watching no matter what your political affiliation is.
What was neat about today, and the main reason I am making this post, is that I got to see his plane land. I live in Long Beach, which has the largest airport in the area that isn't an international one. Because of this, it is a lot easier to clear out and close down in order for Air Force One to fly in, as opposed to the chaos it would create at LAX or John Wayne Airport (in OC). Read about it in the paper yesterday and I really wanted to see it. Lucky for me, my boyfriend's work is right across the 405 freeway from Long Beach Airport, so a small group of us climbed up on the roof at about 3pm and got to watch the plane come in. His boss got some great shots of it coming in and I actually got to see it touch down on the runway. It doesn't seem like that much, but for me it was important because it was the closest that I will probably ever be to a president or to that plane (which is huge, by the way) and thus I am very excited about it. |

Boyfriend's mom bought property just off of the 80 and 8 and is opening a campground, so once I am done here we are moving out there and he's going to work on the property while I go to school to become a teacher... since teaching in California no longer seems like a viable option. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| So I missed seeing the plane take off yesterday because I had to work, which made me sad. I found out where the plane was parked at and it would have been ridiculously easy to get a good spot to see it... but no, I had to work.
Instead I got two calls from my parents. The first one was to say that while they were watching television they suddenly heard this loud roar outside... they went out just in time to see Marine One and escort flying over the house towards the airport from Burbank, where the Tonight Show is filmed. The second call was to tell me that they also got to see Air Force One... as it flew over the backyard. My parents are not in the flightpath normally, but the plane had took off facing west and looped around to head back east and that took it over the house. I at least have the satisfaction of seeing it more up close, but still. Meh. |

Seriously... I refuse to read the book, had have done so ever since I found out the plot, or lack thereof. Sparkly vampires committing indecent acts with a minor? This is popular? And the fans... oh my fucking gods I HATE the fans. All I hear is "Edward, Edward, Edward... I love Edward... I am changing my last name to Cullen... Bella doesn't deserve Edward...." On and on and on! While it is encouraging to see that apparently anyone can get published these days there really are some people that shouldn't be, and Stephanie Meyer is one of them. GAAAAAHHHH!!!!!!!!! I've been holding that in for awhile. |

| I'm fine with reading it for fun... I'm just sick of not being able to walk five feet without hearing about it. One of my friends is obsessed with it and I am honestly sick of seeing all of her stuff and talking about how it is the best book series of all time. Harry Potter was written way better, and while it got a huge fan base it is nothing like this... which puzzles me to be honest.
It does ruin prospects for aspiring writers now, since it seems like it doesn't matter if your book is actually good or not as long as the teeny-boppers will buy it. How am I supposed to compete with that? |
