I should also point out AGAIN that graphics does not a game make. Also, Gamecube was just below the XBox's graphical capability. PS2 could handle about 15 million polygons, Gamecube could do 65, Xbox could do 75. If what I saw on a sign at a shop during sixth gen years is true anyway. And look how small the Gamecube was compared to the XBox!

Gan Ning - I do understand that is a major problem for the Wii. Motion control, in the Wiimote's current state, seems poorly adapted into games, however some use it well. No More Heroes is great with it, not even relying on motion control much apart from power moves and whether you attack with low or high attacks, and Madworld's mini quick-time events for attacks which use different motion features works well and normally follows the action.

At the moment, I'm waiting for Red Steel 2 and the Motion+ attachment.

I seriously can't stand the idiots who call this a pandemic. It's killed 150 so far in low income areas of Mexico, and that's pretty much it... Maybe a couple of other deaths in other parts, although from what I remember it isn't death, it's just severe cases in America and Britain because we both actually have the ability to help heal it.

And regular flu kills thousands each year, just because the strain of flu that normally only infects pigs has turned to us too doesn't mean we're all going to die.

Fucking media and their fear campaigns. I believe the Swine Flu will have as much affect as Bird Flu, Mad Cow Disease and Rabies... None of which actually did anything significant.

Well firstly make up a questionaire, ask some people in the area you want to open the store and get opinions on whether it's a place they would want to go or not. Then mae up some cash flow forecasts and stuff for the businessy side of things and work out just how much you have to put in. If I lived nearby, I'd certainly go to your place, if only for the arcade/diner bit. Not too big a baseball fan.

Reminds me of a plan I'd love to do though. At some point I want to open up a place for people to simply hang out. Thinking ten quid entry for a day pass, and they get access to games consoles, PCs, lan games, TV, there'd be a little store for snacks... Such a place is very rare, and I'd need to know if it's worth doing, but otherwise, I'd love to do it at some point.

Anyone remember that meme from a good year and a half ago nearly where you just do a short answering of questions? I think we all did it on Snapvine...

Well, considering it's so old, it can technically be fresh and new! Although I came to the conclusion the same questions would be pointless, at least some of them would be anywho. For now, I've added some and removed some to make it seem more of a voice meme update than just the old meme.

EDIT: I should also point out the reason I revived the meme is because I saw it recently on another forum, like posted today. Took me a few minutes to recognise the questions but once I did I was like "WHHHHAAAAAAAAAT?!"

1) How much do you hate/love me for bringing this meme back up?
2) What's the current goings on in your life? Any new friends or rivals?
3) How has the economic crisis affecting you?
4) What's the time?
5) What has the weather been like?
6) What was the last thing you ate?
7) What was the last thing you watched on TV?
8) What’s your favorite TV show? Why? Is this different from a year back?
9) What was the last movie you saw? How was it?
10) Do YOU think you have a strange habit or personality trait? Talk about that.

I have to leave now so I won't be posting mine up until later. But I shall do it tonight!

No! Bad Elara! Back to your room with you!

You gotta do a voice thing! Talk about your answers, expand on them etc. and do it on www.snapvine.com or something!

Odd happenings with Snapvine for me... I had to record mine in an external program, and now it won't let me upload the file. Gonna need a little longer to post my voice again.

I'd hope to learn a little more about Left 4 Dead 2... I mean, the first only came out November last year, and to be fair when it first came out it was hardly complete. Four pretty short campaigns and only two of those campaigns playable on versus mode. Then they updated with Survival and adding the other two maps to versus. Now L4D2 is being released only a YEAR after the first. As long as L4D continues receiving updates, I'm happy, but then it seems as silly as Valve releasing a Team Fortress 3; there would seriously be little point, and from what I've seen on Valve related forums people hate the idea of a second L4D, released only a year after the original game. Then again, Valve state novemberish time this year, that could mean April next year. xD

Crackdown 2 I'd love to see some videos of. That game was sick.

Sony's new motion controller looks a little... Odd... And the odder thing for me is the use of the Eyetoy as the tracking sensor. Could be good though, just a little limited in its possibilities.

I'm thinking quite the opposite. If it's as good as the demo suggests, this is far better then the wiimote. They might actually be able to make real games that don't make the motion sensor seem like a gimmick.

But then maybe with the Motion+ attachment coming out for the Wii, which is obviously what Sony is trying to counteract here, the same will happen with the Wii.

My main issue with it is that it's an odd peripheral to come out for the PS3. While the Wii, with its software development kits and whatever are built for Wiimote use, Sony's will need modifying, and will require programmers to do further learning of the code which I heard was already awkward for most developers to get into the swing of.

But still, wait and see I 'spose.

To be fair Vulkar at least the sequels this year are actually good, unlike the bollocks we got dished last year.

Seriously can't wait for most of these games to come out. 'specially Left 4 Dead 2 and New Super Mario Bros Wii

Posted on 06-20-09 06:17 PM, in Team Fortress 2 - Character Themed Maps Link
Figured I would show off a little project I'm working on over the three months I have free before heading off to university.

A while back, I had the idea to produce a series of maps for Team Fortress 2, each one themed around one of the characters. For my first map, it is one set in a dark, dank, dirty, other descriptive word beginning with D hospital called CP_Medic, obviously themed around the Medic.

While not much has been done so far, the basic layout of the map has been finished. It is a simple three point control point map, with Blu team attempting to take over the hospital which red team must defend. I would post screenshots, but the game decides to save the screenshots in "tga" format which I'm unable to view or post on Photo Bucket...

Whatever, instead, I'll just list what I have planned for each character.

Scout - Capture the flag match over skyscrapers, connected with thin platforms for the other classes to get around.
Soldier - Three control point map, over two long trenches and a no man's land in the middle, a single, open area with trees players can use to hide in.
Pyro - Lots of tight corridors with a few open areas around the control points.
Demoman - BLU must attack RED's demolition business building to prevent them from being able to perform demolition services on structures BLU possibly helped construct. Red base is defended with swinging demolition balls and saws which cause instant death on contact.
Heavy Weapons Guy - Brightly lit, colourful land of kittens, love, and gun. Arena mode.
Engineer - A single control point defended from a spawn point by RED above it, while BLU can spawn in four different spawn rooms around the point.
Sniper - A control point map based in a tower, a long winding path for BLU to attack RED in to reach the tower before they work their way up to the top.
Spy - A hall of mirrors filled with pits and damage traps. This isn't set in stone however, since I'll have to figure out what to do about people using older computers, and therefore can't do reflections.

Any suggestions would be appreciated, and I'll try to post some screenshots soon.

To be fair, celebrities die daily. It's just a matter of coincidence that several well known (Although I didn't know who Billy Mays was until a few weeks ago) celebrities have dropped.

Well Billy Mays would give you some great (?) cleaning and cooking products like the Big City Slider or Kaboom, while Michael Jackson would just give you sparkly suits.

So by far, Jackson wins.

Posted on 07-05-09 05:46 AM, in "Sex with Ducks" Link
Wow, once again religious logic shows its ugly face... Arguing that homosexuality is the same as fucking ducks?

I mean, to compare two rather different things... There's a big difference between an attraction to the same gender and sexually assaulting a bird. The debate between whether homosexuality is a choice still continues, but that makes it irrelevant. If life to a Christian or whatever religion this TV channel is about free will, give homosexuals the free will to choose to be who they are.

And if it isn't down to choice, then they can stop talking about it completely.

A bit of a tangent here, but...
Either way, a homosexual isn't affecting those who aren't. True, occasionally, a gay man might hit on a straight one but if the straight man has any ounce of sense of right and wrong in his brain, making a fool of the gay man (How Christianity does it) is hardly the optimum way of doing this. A simple "Sorry man, I'm not gay" would suffice, and both parties are happy. The gay man doesn't waste his efforts or gets his feelings hurt, and the straight man doesn't have the awkward position of being hit on by another man.

So if it's down to choice, the homosexual choice doesn't make any difference to the 'god-given law and moral abiding' Christian, and if it's hardwired from birth (Although I personally think it is a mix between how sexually active a person is, and the events that lead up to and occur through puberty which causes fetishes, which I do count both hetero and homosexuality under) then they can stop arguing over it entirely. Either way, the topic seriously needs bringing to a close. Too bad such a thing would never occur.

Heck, I know all about things like that developing with the whole macrophilia thing that's developed within my mind, and I can give a detailed list of possible instances which have influenced my mind to enjoy such sexual images, or to derive sexual emotion from such themes, and I have a good feeling I slowly became bisexual through my endeavours into macrophilia. It's hardly a bad thing, I'm not hurting anyone, except maybe people's eyes after they've read through this post. Neither thing is destructive in any way.

Biggest ripoff of TF2 since Battlefield Heroes...

Oh I'm not saying I won't play it, I'm gonna be playing the Beta when it is released.

But I said in my 'Innovation' article a while back that I don't like this constant repetition of games... And while certain aspects of the videos are themes used in many others, there are just too many similarities between this beta and TF2's Meet The Team videos.

The fact that it's a first person, cartoon style, class based first person shooter. There isn't anything I can think of before TF2 that matches that description. Battlefield: Heroes already attempted such a thing and, while a fun game, to any TF2 fan it's painfully obvious where things have been lifted. It's also a much simpler game with only three classes, one being a cross between the Scout, Sniper and Spy, one a cross between the Medic and the Soldier, and one a cross between the Heavy and the Demoman. At least the BF:H theme tune has been changed to something a little less TF2-esque... And now resembles Christian rock music. *Barfs*

All I'm saying is, this game is an utter rip off. Whether or not it's fun or not doesn't matter, and I'll end up playing it just to see its differences.

Plus, it's mainly the fact it's taken such a similar style to TF2, but replaced the war hardened construction and demolition workers with anime dolls.

And come on, the baseball bat scene?

There is no way you can say that's used a lot.

Vulkar, dude... David Tennant is a superb actor, who has done all sorts of other things. He isn't just the tenth doctor, y'know. I'm certain he could play the part.

Although I'd be laughing my ass off if they play a joke by having a blue police box hidden somewhere in the film.
