How long do anime series take to finish usually? Assuming Code Geass R2 will be ~25 episodes again.

I'm not sure if I can keep up with it one episode by one episode ... though I'm much more into anime recently than I used to be when I tried to keep up with Death Note when it was new and whatnot. I ended up just forgetting about Death Note when it was like at episode 4 and stopped watching it. I just love watching anime in bulk, but maybe I'll just watch each episode when they're new and rewatch it all when it's finished?

I think I already said that before earlier somewhere.

Also finished The Second Raid. Amazing!!! Though, I want more! It's obviously not completely finished, is the manga/novel still ongoing or something?

Darker Than Black doesn't seem to be "clicking" for me, maybe it's just not happen' yet. The quality is there though, the visuals are mindblowing.

I should probably pickup Berserk and GITS: SAC again and actually finish them.

I'm downloading Claymore, Gantz, Utawarerumon, Bastard! (lawls), and Jyu Oh Sei for now.

Yeah, well I was watching Darker Than Black between some series, Toward The Terra just got me hooked quicker and the same for FMP: TSR. Though with those done I can probably focus on DTB again.

And Claymore, that sounds like things I hear too. Apparently the ending isn't good and the manga continues the series a little more I guess? Well I'll keep that in mind if I start watching it soon.

Yeah, I can say that for Ganondorf and Donkey Kong. Didn't care for them that much in Melee, but now they're fun to use.

Gross. Another ill-fading ending to a series compared to the manga it sounds like. I guess that may really make me check out the manga, I think the torrent I have is coming with it ... so that's good.

Yeah, instead of using him Ike is all around better and practically just as powerful with more moves. Ganondorf is pretty limited, still fun to use though.

I actually like Sheik a lot. I'm glad her Smash is the same as Zelda's and they replaced her Up+B jump with something basically just like Zelda's. In the end though, Zelda is the real beast.

Kirby is definitely awesome again too. He was one of the best in the original, then sucked in Melee, and now he's great again. His down B is indeed a heavy hit.

Toon Link seems good too. I didn't care for Young Link in Melee, but Toon Link seems a little more fun to use. He sure can jump high.

As for DeDeDe, I'd say his over+A is probably one of the most powerful attacks in the game, lol. Deadly.

Well I can officially point out some things about Darker Than Black that I don't like. The majority of the characters aren't interesting, the music is just "there" pretty much (disappointing when this show has such good art and visuals), and it's kind of boring how it seems episodic based and they just haven't explained much.

Episodic/short arc's can definitely work, I mean just see Cowboy Bebop and Black Lagoon. But those shows have awesome characters, I can't really say that here so far...

I'm on 11, I'll probably continue watching but I doupt my opinion on this one will change that much unless it dramatically changes.

But I've started Death Note which I already know I'll like (I remember loving the first episodes when I watched them a year ago or whatever) and it still seems awesome.

I'll probably watch Darker Than Black here and there while focusing more on other stuff. It seems okay and worth finishing, but probably a little overhyped I'd say.

This anime is just too badass. Watched 8 episodes today, it seems like something I'll be finishing really fast, it's just amazing!

I've seen this comparison made before, but the main character Light is a lot like Lelouch from Code Geass. The heroes can definitely be seen as an enemy/evil as well, so it's really unique (especially with Death Note episode 7, jeeze!) this kind of personality doesn't seem too typical.

Mature, compelling, takes itself seriously, etc, this series seems incredible so far.

I remember the reading part for me was the worst, because of the time constraints, it's like you pretty much have to skim through the stuff to get everything answered.

(could be thinking of the ACT, I'm not sure)

This is all I've been doing lately, blasting through so many series left and right. It's pretty satisfying.

Baccano! for some reason Rogue I think this is just something that you'd totally love, kind of knowing your tastes in film and whatnot. It's only 13 episodes, has some supernatural stuff to it like alchemy, but it's an incredibly interesting anime. The way it plays out is very much like say Pulp Fiction and stuff like that, throughout the 13 episodes it's constantly switching back between different timelines that in the end play a part in the overall story. On top of this there's a huge cast of characters. It sounds crazy and over the top in the way it paces, but it actually works really well and I thought it was amazing. The violence is pretty high and detailed, it's definitely not for the kids. Great characters, some hilarious comedy thrown in, and the way it plays out is just really unique for anime.

Toward The Terra (the new series, 24 episodes) gets my next highest vote simply because it seems to be very very underated. I think I said it in the main anime discussion thread, but in all the anime I've seen this is by far one of the most powerful ones I've seen when it comes to characters and emotion. It does an incredible job at making you feel not only for key characters, but for death's that happen in the background that usually do nothing for us in movies and whatnot. It's very character driven with an OST that actually stands out a lot.

From a review:

The characters and their development are without a doubt the best part of the show. Looking at such an extensive cast, I would never have imagined they could suffer so many changes throughout the series. The two main protagonists, Keith and Jomy (who are first presented as young teenagers), are the best example of this as they both undergo major character development.
They seem to be the two sides of the same coin. Each of them faces a large amount of heavy responsibilities and hardships since their youth to their adulthood. And each choses a different path as they climb to the top. Where one is respected the other is feared, while one created friends the other spawned enemies. Both filled with sorrow and grief for their losses, and yet the bearers of great determination.

Simply put it's the best space opera / adventure like anime I've seen since Crest of the Stars. If you want something like Dune in anime form, this is it.

Above all, those are two I think you'd love.

But I do have to say Black Lagoon is really fun to watch also. It's not something I'd say you have to take totally seriously, since it just revolves around short arcs here and there, but it's just ... really enjoyable! And Revy is by far, the most badass female character in any anime ever. I mean she destroys people like Faye Valentine.

So I'm (about to) finish Death Note, after just starting it two days ago.

I think it's great but could've been better. It started off so incredibly well, but I think it loses its touch a bit around like episode 12 or so.
Spoiler:
When Light gives the Death Note back and teams up with L in a sense for awhile, it was still cool but I thought it was far more interesting when it was Light vs L like the beginning. And I think they could've made Misa more interesting. All in all, the L arc was definitely fun. After that I don't think it's as bad as some people say, but it's definitely not as good. Near and Mello aren't nearly as interesting. Now I'm just waiting to see Kira take over the world or something.

I don't know what to think of it.

Spoiler:
Seems a bit predictable, I guess they couldn't have had Light/Kira take over the world. I just finished it and usually at first I don't know what to think of anime endings, but in time over the next few days I'll probably like it more.

Looking at it as a tragedy, yeah it's pretty good and emotional. I guess I do like it. Lol

Kind of sucks he was defeated by Mello and Near though, I didn't really care for them.

Finished Darker Than Black. Decent watch but not something you'll see me talking about I'd say. It just didn't really seem that developed with the characters and there was overall a big lack of a real plot.

I didn't know until recently, but it's apparently supposed to be an "original story" and not based off the manga or anything like season one. So it'll be interesting how it turns out I guess.

Honestly can't wait though.

Haha, episode 6 was hilarious. There's supposed to be like a remix/special OVA of that episode too, haven't seen it myself though.

And yeah, 8 is pure epic. It just keeps getting epic too.

Also, the old Bubblegum Crisis OVA is pure win. It's so 80's it's amazing.
