Honestly, I wasn't expecting much of this (having heard that the recent albums weren't that great).

This gave me so much. It gave me such a great feeling, the solos are great.

As for how it sounded, it was pretty much like the first Operation Mindcrime. I'd say it was about as good. Seriosuly.

I'm actually quite surprised. But I'll probably have to hear it myself to be sure.

I didn't mind Promised Land, it was their last album that I enjoyed, but it was still so different from the rest. Empire was probably their last "true" good album. Hear in the Now Frontier was just ... horrible in my opinion.

So it's got that old Progressive style, that they kind of drifted away from over the years?

I'd have to relisten the first one to really be able to compare, but it's truly good.

I'll listen to it another time to give a proper review.

So far it's got a 8.5 at metalstorm, but that's from 11 people.

Great amazon reviews.

I'll probably see if this is at Best Buy tommorow and pick it up.

Got it, don't take this review / post too seriously though ... this is my judgement from listening to the first 6 songs only.

Really, I like it. It blows Here in the Now Frontier, and even Promised Land away. It's a perfect attempt and a great sequal to the original Operation Mindcrime, and with solo's and everything it's proof that Queensryche doesn't care to "try to fit in" anymore.

To be critical though:
- Tate still sounds awesome, and hasn't changed much. He doesn't seem as overpowering as he used to be though (over the music), but he still has that same voice. I'm glad he hasn't shown much change compared to other musicians (Micheal Kiske in Avantasia sounded like a completely different person).
- The pace seems a little heavy, lower, and not as fast. Its kind of missing an upbeat feel to it like the original Mindcrime had, and awesome choirs like "Revolution Calling!" that just made you want to sing along.

It sucks that DeGarmo left though, without him they may never sound entirely same again.

But yeah, again this is just from the first couple of songs, but from what I've heard so far I'd say it really is a return.
