Full Article

So, 7th grader gets assignment to write essay about his/her perfect day. Seventh grader writes about destruction of President Bush, Wal-Mart and Coca-Cola execs, and lands himself/herself an investigation from the Secret Service after his/her teacher tattles to school officials.

Are we not able to kid around anymore? Even as a 11 to 13 year old? Not everyone on this planet likes our President. And, I don't think a seventh grader would be able to carry out a death wish on the President.

The student is undergoing counseling. For what!? For having a brain and noticing that our Prez sucks at the age of whatever? Total violation of first amendment rights. If the Man is just going to Patriot Act our rights, why do they keep telling us we have them?

This is about as funny as this kid on my bus is being sued by the bus driver that he called the sub bus driver a "Nazi"...

...The secret service...? Why they hell are they investigating? Wouldent you think they might have gotten farther into his head if like a social worker came in?

Well, here's me playing the devil's advocate. Due to the PATRIOT Act as well as the fact no institutional confinement has been diagnosed, only guidance with parental consent, it is not, per se, a violation of the first amendment. However, it is a travesty and one that we all know too well. For monarchy's thrived by controlling the people's voices and press. Slowly, but surely, monoarchies are being formed that are cleverly disguised as democracies, however much control the candidates have. For these days currency has more power than the voice of the people...

It is so.

Do you realize you just said nothing? Spoken like a true politician. I understood nothing of that. Way to confuse.

It's a violation of first amendment rights because the student is unable to express their freedom of speech through an essay about taking out the Prez. While it is a felony to declare such, many movies and novels and other junk do that all the time. So, how come a seventh grader doesn't get off on the same stance?

>__< Basically I tried to show both sides of the story...

If you want my honest opinion, I believe it's wrong. Okays?

BUT, while you might say the kid doesn't have the right of free speech, it's redundant as he both already said it and we're talking about it, so his voice his actually being heard better. Also, the kid both said it and is only going through counseling...I mean, I try to look at both sides of every argument. There is some depraved kids out there, and they don't want him to be a murderer. I can comphrehend why they say he deserves counseling, while I don't agree with it.

Personally, I've handed in much worse shit than this, but my teachers were understanding. I don't think that Secret Services should be involved in this. I mean, we have drug rings and gangs and wars to fight, eh? No need to investigate a 7th grader.

The counseling thing I understand. I don't like it, but I understand it. ^.^ Kay?

See, wasn't that easier? Try to think through your posts when you want to present both sides. Doing it in a mash of the same sentence doesn't work. Unless you figure out how to structure it correctly...and that is possible.

For me, it's just an essay. Means nothing. It's an opinionated seventh grader, and maybe he does need couseling, but I see the start of an excellent fiction writer or movie maker.

If anything I think that the parents should get something done to them, because if you think about it 7th grade is a little young to have politcal views considering they dont know the whole story and things like that, so my best guess would be that the kids parents are feeding him crap about there views.

Or the kid could be really interested in politics at a young age, just take a look at NasusTheGreat (board member).

Secret Service is pushing it, you don't need them. The kid probably doesn't need counseling either, but I understand why he's in it.

Drizzit, while I attempted to play Devil's advocate, I don't agree with that and I REALLY don't agree with your reasoning.

You're saying a 7th grader isn't allowed to have political views? BAH. When I was in 7th grade, I was just as disenfranchised by our government and I looked at both sides of the spectrum. Listen, if the kid has enough intelligence, he'd have followed the events from many sides and gained his opinion. Age has absolutely nothing to do with political views. In fact, children often want to make choices that are FAR better than the ones adults do. Like they can see world peace is a good idea.

The Secret Service is finding new and imaginative ways to waste their time it seems. I mean, he's in 7th grade, what could he possibly do? I wrote a story in 9th grade about killing off the entire school... right after Columbine... and nothing happened to me. This is just retarded!
