Everywhere I turn people are still arguing about "the wrongful execution" of Tookie Williams.
OK, for those of you in the dark, Tookie Williams calls himself the founder of the Crips (though it's been proven by several founders that he didn't really found them, and even they want him dead) and killed 4 people in cold blood (one 7-Eleven clerk and a family, a 30 or 40-something-year-old woman and her parents, in their motel room after he busted down the door for no reason and blew them away at point blank with his shotgun). Upon his conviction, he threatened to kill all of the members of the jury, and has since been serving time in prison, up until his execution last week. Liberals and others had been crying for his freedom since a month 'til the execution date. Do you REALLY want this guy free? Why not Charlie Manson then? Hmm? So he wrote a few children's books... that doesn't take away from what he did. He didn't show clemency to his victims. And people are still whining about the situation. No gang uprisings happened. No riots. Nothing that people were threatening would happen if he was killed. OK, sorry to be complaining about it too, but I'm tired of my e-mail box getting spammed with this link. http://www.savetookie.org/ "Savetookie.org will be having a live Webcast of his Memorial Services at noon. I've included the website in case you want further information." ENOUGH! He's dead already. You lost your bleeding heart case. He isn't the next coming of Christ or whatever lamb you think he is (what kind fucked up messiah are you following?). It's people like you that buy pit bulls for your newborn baby. In their defense, if a pit bull is raised properly it won't be as aggressive as everyone thinks.
This is the first I've heard of this, however. =/ (Last edited by Tamarin Calanis on 12-20-05 05:52 PM) |

Originally posted by Tamarin Calanis prob cause you dont live in cali. anyways, i dont hear about this anymore after his execution. i didnt hear anything about no riots if they would execute him either. in any case, i think you're really spinning this outta control. the only thing that's weak about ppl's case about capital punishment is that instead of focusing on an individual, they should just focus on it in general. like arnold's push for an admendment for non-american born citizens for president. no one would vote on it, because they know it's entirly just for him. if he would promise that he wouldnt run if the admendment were to be passed, it would look better. this is the same for tookie. instead of pushing for an end to capital punishment just for an individual, they shouldn't be gathering at the next person up for an execution. it just looks bad if you're doing it for one person, instead of it in general. anyways, point being, people are stupid when it comes to a "higher calling." if they were to allow death sentencees a chance to say that they've changed, then obviously everyone on death row will say the same thing. so just them saying or even showing that they've changed should not have any bearing on anything. it just just be all or none. capital punishment, or no capital punishment at all. plus, i think ppl are wayyyyyy too much into capital punishment. we hardly ever use it, and they're making it as if it's an everyday kinda thing. anyways, in some states, ppl get executed within years, tookie has been in prison for a long ass time. |

I dunno.. perhaps I'm just in the wrong circles when it comes to this insanity. People are still talking about it and it's been driving me nuts.
I can't agree more with you, avatar. We aren't Texas for crying out loud. |

I got sick of it after seeing on the news for like 3 days straight... the guy may say he's sorry, and he may have wrote books for kids about how gangs are bad... but that doesn't change the past. I'm sure that if he hadn't gotten taken off Death Row that they would rally around Manson as well... and he doesn't show ANY remorse for what he did.
I agree with avatar on this: if you want to change the system on capital punishment then focus on the collective and not the individual. I'm a very liberal person for the most part, and even I actually see a purpose for the death penalty. |

'Redemption' was a stirring television-only movie (now on DVD at your local Blockbuster) that starred Jamie Foxx as Tookie Williams. His performance was amazing as usual. Anywho it goes in-detail about Williams's prison sentence and what he has done. It's actually quite a stirring movie. After I seeing it I haven't really decided my stance on his freedom. Doesn't really matter now though....... | |||

I haven't heard about this mostly because I don't care. If it's not that important to me, I really don't pay much attention. If the thing is dead, let it be. He ain't coming back.
If he wanted to kill people, and we wanted to worship that, we might as well worship the state of Texas. We already elected their village idiot for President. |
