This thing is called a Chapman Stick. It's usually a 10 stringed instrument with half of it bass tuned and half guitar tuned, and at this is 5 1/4 octaves. It's playing entirely by tapping, so is actually more similar to keyboard than bass. One can be heard in part Liquid Tension Experiment, and I know the Blue Man Group has a Stick player. Has anyone else heard of/seen this thing before? |
