Which FPS do you prefer? I'm actually not voting yet because although I've played UC2003 and UT2004, I still need to play Quake and am waiting for Quake IV to do so. I'm rather shamed that I haven't played a Quake game yet. I just want to know which one most people prefer, no point in waiting longer to know that.
Edit: I forgot to make this a poll instead... (Last edited by tanto10 on 06-11-05 02:25 AM) |

I've lots better about Unreal than I have about Quake, though I don't think either of them are great. It is a fact that most people prefer Unreal, Quake is one of the least innovative fps's there are.

For multiplayer Unreal, for single player Quake.
If you're wanting to get into Quake, I'd highly recommend trying out Quake 2, either the PSX version or the PC version (not the stipped down N64 one). I honestly really liked the game, just don't expect a lot of innovation. It's basically Doom, but with upgraded graphics, new weapons, and new enemies. It's still really a fun game though, so you should check it out if you're an FPS fan. |

I played Unreal, and liked it. I've played Quake and like it. [EDITED FOR SECURITY REASONS] (Last edited by Zabuza on 06-15-05 05:08 AM) |

Unreal all the way. Quake was just too bleh (adjectives fail me) for me. Unreal had cool aliens and sweet weapon combinations, not to mention alt-fire for everything. Now it has been resurrected in Unreal Tournament and Championship there isn't really much competition against Quake. QIV may change all that but hey, what do i know?

Originally posted by Zabuza All I'm hoping is that Quake IV will be faster paced than Doom III. I really liked Doom III's engine, but the pace of the game just seemed "slow", and the game was really repetitive (no, it was not scary at all). |

And hopefully they can do something about the multiplayer to. Having about max players of 8 people in a server isnt that much fun and on top of that it just got boring after 5 min. It had a fun singleplayer campaign but like Xeo said I felt I was just doing the same thing over and over again just with different enemies. Don't even talk to me about the storyline hopefully Quake IV's will be better.
But yeah definately Unreal for the multiplayer side I own UT2K4 and its one of the best online multilplayers fps's out there. With the new onslaught mode and vehicles they have changed the gameplay around and make it a lot better. |

I'll just say if Quake IV follows after Quake II's pattern, then it's already going to be a great game (it's also the sequel to Quake II)
