Come to California! Perhaps around April of next year. Huh?

Even though there's SO MUCH going on this weekend (L.A.Times Festival of Books, War Mart sale, etc), I don't really feel like leaving my air-conditioned room, especially in this heat. Good lord, I've gotten old.

Still no AC on here... but it's coming up soon. The weather is still bouncing up and down a bit destroying my allergies. I hope summer hits soon and stays there. Never thought I'd say that, lol.

The majority of today's paycheck is paying off my credit card. Hopefully the next check in a couple weeks will in some part go to savings.

Speaking of money... I thought my rent was due in a few days, but it's not showing anything online. I moved in at the end of March and paid for a week and April, so maybe I don't need to pay for May until the start of June? I am confused. lol

So this whole living-off-the-credit-card-'til-payday has pretty much been the norm. Once I'm paid, it goes to paying off the credit card. That zeroes out and then I'm back to using it for food and shit.
Wedding plans have been trucking along. We have the venue, our wedding clothes are paid for. We narrowed down the guest list since we're only allowed 150. Will probably jump on getting out those save-the-date postcards soon. Figuring out the caterer, rentals, decorating, flowers, DJ, and thousands of other hidden items are on the docket. I just don't wanna. |

I still don't have a credit card, unless the Amazon one counts. I usually buy one big thing from Amazon a year. That's it for me.

I've been busy on other forums and haven't really had time to check this one. Not sure why this board ends up at a forgotten depths of my mind...

The more the merrier. Hopefully. I dunno.
My dad made an appointment, on his own, with a caterer we were considering and we met with her on Sunday. So far she's the most promising, and she has better ideas of what I'm looking for. We're also in the process of hiring a DJ, but it's slow going since the guy we want is not getting to his e-mails fast enough but gets on us for not e-mailing him sooner and threatening that he's first-come-first-serve and people can still hire him for our date. |

For some reason I know a handful of people who DJ, haha. Guess I somehow slipped into the outskirts of that scene a tiny bit.

Well, the DJ thing fell through. He ended up asking us for $3,000 when he starts at $1,000 and then pretty much said he's over-qualified, though he'll give it a try for that price.
Riiiiiiiiiight. He's a former member of the band we'd already hired, and we were hoping getting him would then mean we'd have the band and music and MC stuff all figured out since they all know each other. Anyway, not a HUGE loss. Especially since he was asking for what was half the cost of the venue. Had a good Fathers Day with my dad, grandpa, uncle, and family eating lunch at the Old Spaghetti Factory in Newport. I wanted to actually have a conversation with Grandpa, but none of us could think of more than just, "How you doin'?" My uncle asked him how his coffee crowd is going and then Grandpa told us about how it's dwindling and how, most recently, one of his friends went on a trip to see his kids and Grandpa just got a notice that the man passed away. We're all just aghast and not sure what to say after that. Anyone else have a good Fathers Day? |

It's my favorite time of year -- Shakespeare season. So many picnics to plan.
Our favorite cast is doing "Measure for Measure" and "Two Gentlemen of Verona" this year, and we have plans to see the other cast do "Macbeth," and we went and saw the San Diego Globe Theatre do "Richard II." Will have to see when Lee and the others want to do our garish tea party. I'm also going through so many swatches of fabric for my wedding dress. We decided to do Renaissance faire garb so that way I'm not just stuck with a white dress that will live in a box for the rest of my life. It's going to be my new garb thereafter. |

E-mailed my dressmaker the first choices for the dress. I genuinely hope they work. I'm feeling a lot of anxiety over this whole thing since the customer service guy who answers the e-mails is the very same person who made me feel like absolute shit when I talked to him at WonderCon.
The dress is already paid for. I just need them to make it. |

Woo, quadruple posting!
I had four days in a row where I had to socialize with people. That's a lot to ask of an introvert. Friday was my boss' birthday party and almost everyone got drunk and it was awkward coming in on Monday, especially after the way lots of people behaved. Anyway, that night I was super-late getting home to let my visitor from the UK in. I got a speech in front of my parents the next morning. Saturday was a picnic with the Operations department for the cons I work. Sunday, spent the whole day at Universal Studios, thanks to UK friend. Ended up getting a neighbor pass, I can come back any of the non-blacked out dates through May. And then Monday, we had a get-together with Brandon's band, where we did the monthly Beer Dinner. Spent Tuesday completely ill. I thought I was just hung over (which would not have been fair because I did not drink enough to get sick at the beer dinner), but the pain got worse and worse and I ended up not sleeping at all and having to spend most of the day in urgent care on Wednesday. The meds I'm on are helping combat abdominal spasms and such. Anyway, I took a sick day last week and used that to do all sorts of errands and finally mail of the Save the Date cards. Still need to call the caterer we've decided to hire. |
