$17,000! Holy shit, how bad did they hit you?
Fandoms... well... it is more like the fandoms that keep holding sway. Though, the Wizarding World swept me up again with Fantastic Beasts and the info on Illvermorny School (go Thunderbirds!) The Grand Tour... Kaleb introduced me to Top Gear last year, and while I am not a gear head, I do enjoy cars... and the show itself is rather funny with all the crap they do, so when BBC and the hosts split ways, we naturally tuned in to their new show on Amazon. It's been amusing so far. Dragon Age fandom is still going strong, no surprise there. Pokemon during the height of the Pokemon Go! craze... though I haven't really played since October since there is shit in my area. Since it is the holiday season... which holiday song do you like best/dislike least? |

Like: "Mele Kalikimaka" (any version is fine, but Bing and the Andrew Sisters is classic) and The Killers' "Cowboys Christmas Ball." And neither gets played on the Christmas music stations. Apparently Obama's been known to strut around the White House singing "Mele Kalikimaka" to himself.
Puts me in "MURDER MODE": "Last Christmas" and "Baby It's Cold Outside." What dead author would you be happiest to have tea with? |

Ooh... good question! At this point, I think I would have to go with Mark Twain. I think it would be highly entertaining and insightful to present day events.
Two-part question: Have you ever had hives? If so, how do you deal with them? |

I would have answered Mark Twain too.
I have, but they were due to an outside stimulus (I'm allergic to certain metals -- though not entirely sure which -- and paints on my skin), so I just removed it. I've never really done more than that. The worst I ever had was caused by a necklace I got at Disneyland. I thought it was wood, but it was actually plastic painted to look like it and my neck was completely encircled with hives for a week. Sometimes I'd get them on my stomach from a brass belt buckle I had that was finished to look like nickel. What book has meant the most to you? |

Oh that is HARD!
Um... I suppose Charles Dickens' "A Tale of Two Cities"... I remember in 9th grade the honors language arts class was reading "Great Expectations" and I, not having had the confidence to sign up for honors, read the book on my own. It was good, but overall I was kinda "meh" about it... I just don't care much for first person narration and never have; but right after that in the book was "A Tale of Two Cities" and I plowed through it. The love of classic books started there. A picture of my Labrador, Muddy, from when he was only a few months old. I'll link to the image here.
Who wants to see a new F-Zero game for the Nintendo Switch, considering GX will probably be on the GameCube VC, and it could be called "F-Zero NX" in reference to the console's code name? |

Perhaps this will come off as blasphemous, but I've never been a Nintendo person.
Any movies you're looking forward to this year? |

... Star Wars Episode VIII... mostly for Carrie Fisher.
Other than that, I honestly don't know what else is coming out this year. English Breakfast Tea or Irish Breakfast Tea? |

Irish breakfast tea, but Lady Grey is even better.
How do you find time to do the things you want to do? |

I've just made the time, I guess. But then again, I don't have kids.
If whatever the thing is is happening while I'm at work (like whenever my friend invites me to her all-day pub crawls), though, I'm most likely not going to call out for it. Do you have a favorite musical? |

I would kill for it to be a stage show. Or to just have a sequel. Do you like ice in your cold beverages? |

I didn't used to, but now I do.
I'm weird, I guess? I prefer my cold coffee drinks iced, but not blended. Tried to order one of those "available for a limited time only" frappucinos at Starbucks as an iced beverage and they stared at me like I'd sprouted a second head and it was singing "Touch Me in the Morning." They answered, "Uh... We can't do that..." Good grief, I've given up on Starbucks. Everyone's running in with recipes for secret menu items and previously they'd go, "Sure! We'll make whatever you want." Now you order something OFF THEIR MENU that was introduced nationwide and they stare at you blankly. It's all Peet's and Dutch Bros. from here on out when it comes to established big name coffee for me. Eh, sometimes Philz. What does your "happy place" look like? |

My real one or my mental one? Real one is my bed, with my super plush blanket, a good book, fresh coffee, a bag of dark chocolates, snuggles, and cats sleeping on my feet. Mental one... probably the same, but in California.
What is your go-to treatment for a cold? |

Rogue If you're reading this... You are the Resistance Since: 08-17-04 Since last post: 636 days Last activity: 445 days |

Loads of zinc. Most often in the form of Cold-eeze cough drops, but I also take supplements. While vitamin C does help boost immunity, zinc cuts colds short by keeping the virus from multiplying.
Otherwise lots of water and bedrest. When a good friend upsets you by belittling you, what do you usually do? |

Usually I will point it out, and if they don't see what the issue is, I stop talking to them for awhile.
What is the lamest present you've ever been given? |

I'll take a spin on that since I can't think of one, but when I was a kid and the Gameboy Pocket was new, my uncle got me one for Christmas. But my dad immediately took it away because "that's all I would ever do", so I ended up being able to use it for one family trip drive I think, then he eventually gave it to me like a decade later when the DS was out or something and it didn't even matter anymore.
I remember one time my parents were out and I tried to find it, but never did. Lame? An insult to my uncle I'd say so, thanks for spending that money for nothing. lol Have you ever been to Canada or Mexico? (Last edited by Xeoman on 01-14-17 10:01 PM) |

My parents took me to Canada for Expo '86 when I was 1. I have no memories of any of it.
Mexico, a few times. But not the main portion, just Baja. Went for day visits a lot when I was a kid, and then went a couple times to help build houses for poor people in the hills. Have only been back once in the last 15 years. Fun fact: a couple times when my parents dumped me off at my grandparents' house while they went to hang out with their friends for an evening when I was a kid, they'd occasionally run down to Mexico and back. It was only a couple hours one way. What are five things on your bucket list? |

I'd say it was discovering I directly descend from Stephen Hopkins, but discovering my mother's brother was not my grandmother's son was kind of a blow. Not sure if he was my grandfather's at all. He doesn't even know he wasn't her son.
What movie has shocked you the most? |

I am not sure, really. I suppose it depends on how you define shocked.
Rogue One shocked me with the digital Leia... I didn't see that coming, even though I suppose I should have. Signs shocked me with the alien reveal and actually made me jump. (Don't judge me) Wrong Turn shocked me with the level of gore and "shock factor" instead of trying to make a decent horror film... last "scary" movie I saw it theaters... I walked out because I was so annoyed. If all you could read for the next year was a single book series, which would it be? |
