So if I had started out in the right school I wouldn't have to put the one thing I'm passionate about learning about to the side and finish up schooling in IT. It just makes me sad that I find this hobby a lot more fun then army and IT all together.

So I'll be straight up. I love to cook. I've been very prominent with cooking several different dishes and learning new recipes even coming up with some myself.

So I thought about it. Over and over. I'll finish up schooling in IT and wind up somehow in a cooking school when D'arcy is able to go to school. Eric and I have agreed to shift between classes and careers. Eric wants to go to school while I work and then when he's done with school he wants me to check out culinary school.

My first thought when he told me this was a sarcasting "Woo I'm going to be around a ton of pot heads." then it was a "HURRAY I'M GOING TO BE AROUND A TON OF POT HEADS." That makes me feel smarter. XD jk jk

I surprisingly know a ton of people that have gone to culinary school... sadly, no potheads. But I think you'd still do great.

In the meantime, it's self teaching and experimentation.

That's awesome you found something you want to pursue! My sister is nearly finished with an associate's degree in culinary arts/hospitality. She either wants to be a baker, or own a butcher shop. *shudders*

At 25, I still don't know what I am passionate about, but not having gotten into the vet program, but wanting to stay in New Zealand and have a stable job, I've decided I want to get back into nursing. Though I wouldn't say it's my favorite thing in the world, I am really good at biological/health sciences, and enjoy it well enough.

Sorry to go off on a tangent. Glad you found something worth going after. Best of luck!

You know, I'm noticing this with several of my friends. They go to school for one thing (computer science, journalism, liberal arts, etc), and then realize they just want to go to cooking school and end up dropping out to go to a culinary academy of some sort.

I mean, people gotta eat, right?

Do what makes you happy!

Invest in a good set of culinary knives... makes cooking experiments easier. Just start adding cooking appliances to lists of wanted birthday/holiday gifts.

This. A well-made Santoku works wonders.

I'll keep that in mind.

I made an awesome risotto a couple of nights ago and Eric wants to make that a staple. XD
