Since the majority of us are some kind of geek (be it gamer, comic book fan, convention rat, faire folk, sci-fi/fantasy fanatic, and so on), and often we really want to tell somebody about our latest thing we've done, seen, read, heard, or took part in, this thread was created.

This thread differs from the "Busy?" thread in that it's for posting those geeky things you do, while that thread is for posting about work, school, vacations, and other things that you're working on.

So what's it been for you? What'cha been reading? What games are you running/playing?

I've been watching a lot of Let's Play's by HCBailly. It's like a new TV channel, it's weird... but he's awesome.

I spent the time waiting for my car to be inspected by going to the comic book shop and buying new dice for my Pathfinder character.

I've been reading Cracked.com lists all day. Oh my god, I love this stuff.

Like 7 Famous Unsolved Mysteries Solved Solved By Sciences Years Ago or 5 Things You Won't Believe Aren't in the Bible.

I laughed like an idiot when I went through 5 Insane Barack Obama Comic Books You Won't Believe Are Real, because well... I own most of them already. And more that aren't listed. I'll have to post pictures of my collection some time.

Yeah, it's definitely not all gold.

My old workmates used to gather 'round and watch Michael Swaim all the freaking time. He's occasionally funny, but more often than not he and most of the other videos are just not good. Like a lot of them are just all out crap. I came to realize this when I spent the better part of a day watching a chunk of them. I laughed far less than I groaned before skipping to the next video.

The lists vary. Some of them are IMMENSELY interesting, while others (like those criticizing plot points in movies) are often just grasping.

Good enough!

I completely geeked over dinner with my parents talking about pagan religions being adopted by Christianity, which transitioned into explaining different aspects of Greek mythology to my mom who kept asking questions. Funny how much shit starts because Zeus fucked some guy's wife or when three goddesses throw a fit over which is prettier.

Yep! Those Greek gods were a busy bunch.

So, I just spent the last half hour or so cataloging my collection of coins and banknotes... mostly foreign. A lot of it is just Canadian money that I got at my old job, but some of them are rather awesome (though I stand to inherit some much more awesome coins, like an Antebellum penny).

As of right now, the best items in my collection are a 1943 steel penny and two bills from South Vietnam, a 5 Dong note from 1955 and a 10 Dong from 1962. They are pretty beat up, otherwise I think they'd be worth a bit to collectors.

Old coins are awesome. When my dad's friend passed away, with my dad pretty much getting everything, we found jars upon jars of coins and rolls of them. I didn't realize it until I took them to the Coinstar, but the rolls were all either buffalo nickels, steel pennies, Mercury dimes, wheat-back pennies, or the occasional Indian head penny.

The guy was a Nisei. His family lost EVERYTHING during the war when they were interned with the other Japanese-Americans. When he got out, he held onto everything.

I just had a Felicia Day morning, watching the season finale of The Guild on Zune and the premiere of Dragon Age: Redemption

Please say that you didn't put those coins into the Coinstar. Please.

No, I've got most of them (or at least my dad does). Although, I did deposit a roll without looking at any of them, thinking it was a simple roll of common, modern pennies just because I needed a few bucks in my account for one reason or another. I have NO idea what I gave them.

Thankfully the Coinstar doesn't accept steel pennies and they ended up in the rejected coins slot. We caught most of the ones before they went through the machine, but the occasional one we missed didn't make it through.

Yeah, I still feel like an idiot about it.
