- Typical bombastic Hollywood soundtrack
- Slapstick comedy
- One of the most boring, cliche', and pointless romances I've ever seen. I also hated how Thor's personality changed overnight. Sure, a lot happened... I guess.

I love Thor, and was extremely underwhelmed. But I'm really just losing interest in Marvel's movies in general thesedays to be honest.

So I finally saw Thor, and honestly I agree on all counts.

The ONLY thing I got excited for was the hinting that SHIELD already had Hawkeye.

I think the only times I found the movie enjoyable were when he lost his powers to when the Destroyer showed up. Seemed like when he was Thor, all powered up and everything, I really didn't give a shit. Oddly enough despite predicting the gag with him walking behind their car, I still laughed like a goon.

Loki's story was just so convoluted.

And Thor's friends were USELESS. While I'm a big fan of diversity, why was there this Japanese samurai-type guy (accent and everything) among the warriors of Asgard?

And that after-the-credits scene? Was that AT ALL exciting? When I saw it in the theater all the fanboys (including those who went, "Sam Jackson!") all collectively went, "Whaaaaat?" when it concluded.

You can hear them all doing it in this video too:

I'm used to those ending with all the fanboys pissing their pants in enthusiasm after the credits. NO ONE CARED.

My best guess is the thing in the briefcase alluded to Red Skull or someone like him being in the Avengers movie. Either way, I was hoping for an Antman/Wasp cameo or SOMETHING.

I enjoyed Thor. I took it as seriously as a movie adaption of a comic book adaption of Norse mythology can be taken seriously (hint: not much.)

Obviously, the part that mattered was when he was powerless, which was the great challenge of humanizing a god/alien/muscular man, and I thought it did so admirably. Sure, Natalie Portman was a terrible love interest, but that is because if you sit down and study her and her performances, she's really not that good of an actress. Black Swan was her lucky break.

So yeah, there's my two cents on that subject.

Still haven't seen Thor but I saw Captain America and I think they did a pretty decent job. I will tell you right now that watching that clip after seeing Cap'n movie makes a hell of a lot more sense than if I hadn't. Looks like the Avengers trailers are leading up to something.

It was paired with Transformers 3 at the drive in... and I really have to say that even as a train wreck it was not entertaining. I mostly just wanted to shoot people for being morons throughout the entire film.

I'm actually dying to see two movies in theaters right now: Captain America and Cowboys and Aliens (coming soon!). Not sure if I'll go see them in the first-run or wait until cheap theater. I really don't think I could wait until then.

Anyway, last film I saw was last night -- went and saw a screening of the extended, remastered The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly on the beach. Brandon and I laid out our Mexican blankets in the sand and had a grand, old time. I've always loved Clint Eastwood's movies with The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly being my favorite. Unforgiven is a very close second.

I'd never seen the extended scenes before, and damn, surround sound with that AMAZING score and 3 1/2 hours of Clint Eastwood hotness. <3 <3 <3

So I saw Burlesque today... Ben's mom wanted to see it... and while it wasn't as bad as I expected (I preferred it to Moulin Rouge), it still wasn't really good.

The main thing I took away from it, after the first five minutes of the movie, was "What the fuck, WHY is there a pop cover of The Beautiful People?!?!?!"

Yeah, I thought that was weird too.

Burlesque ripped off so many things as far as I'm concerned and tried to get away with it all claiming it was a tribute. Seriously, though, of all things to rip-off WHY Coyote Ugly?

Kinda pisses me off that the song that goes, "WHAT?! I Am a Good Girl," gets stuck in my head from time to time. I HATE that song.

Yeah. I mean, Cher's original song was pretty good... and Aguilera didn't suck as much as I thought she would... but I totally agree on the Coyote Ugly thing.

I did like the little stage bit by Alan Cumming's character and the contortionists though... that I found quite amusing.

... but yeah... no pop Manson... I feel dirty just thinking about it... almost on par with locking eyes with an Elder God, but not quite.

Alan Cumming was the only thing that was keeping me interested. I love that man so much. Sadly he wasn't in it that much.

But to continue on the rant about ripping things off, I swear a lot of the choreography was lifting out of Bob Fosse's repertoire, the film version of Cabaret specifically (but MANY of the shots were very Chicago-esque, perhaps even Sweet Charity). So it was kinda funny using Alan Cumming, who played Emcee in the revival of Cabaret, playing a similar character there.

That bit he did with the contortionists sort of reminded me of the song/dance "Two Ladies," from Cabaret, even. Frankly the best part of the film.

I don't know what's up with the CW, but I've been up passed 3 in the morning the last couple nights, turned on the TV, and realized they were playing one really depressing movie about black history in some form or another. A couple nights ago it was Glory, but last night it was Amistad.

I'd seen Glory many times in my young life, but I'd never seen Amistad. My god, how did I go so long without seeing it? It's so good. I mean, I've really got to dig in and double check their history, but the flashbacks to being captured, being on the ships... holy shit.

Glory sounds really familiar, not sure if I've seen Amistad myself though. Sounds intense...

I just recently watched a film titled "Creation," which is about Charles Darwin and his personal struggles (dramatized), as he wrote his book, On the Origin of Species. Now, I've never quite seen a film that left me awe inspired, hopeful, sad and happy, all throughout the course of it. It was just phenomenal. Definitely one of my favorites now.

Never saw Amistad but I remember it getting a whole bunch of critical acclaim and stuff. I think I also might have to look into it.

Last movies I saw were Conan: The Barbarian and Rise of the Planet of the Apes. I enjoyed both films much better than their originals. I suppose remakes are not so bad when you do them right.

Finally saw Thelma and Louise. It was playing on one of the PBS channels late last night. While I liked it, I also REALLY hated it. I mean, Louise was being such a good friend and Thelma was such an idiot.

I don't really think of it as much of a feminist film as people seem to think it is.

Yeah, I had the same reaction when I saw it. Honestly, it was kinda stupid in my opinion.

Just saw Paul on DVD today, and I gotta say that I really liked it. We wanted to see it in theaters but never got the chance. I am a fan of Simon Peg movies in general and this was very similar in feel... but with Seth Rogan as an alien, and therefore more awesome. I want to go out and actually buy the movie now since stupid Netflix won't let you see the special features... apparently they have a special disk for it any everything. Bastards.

I still need to see Paul, especially since I'm an incredibly huge fan of Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, most especially when they do films together.

So... I finally saw The Social Network. It didn't suck. In fact, I'd venture to say that it actually was pretty good. It doesn't make me like or hate Mark Zuckerberg.

Actually it makes me like Jesse Eisenberg. I didn't really dig him in Zombieland, but he actually transforms. I'd come to think of him as another Michael Cera, but in truth, Michael Cera tends to play himself whenever he does most films, while Jesse actually becomes someone else.

Yeah... based on what I have seen of interviews, Paul really came across as Simon and Nick playing themselves, with different names, and tossing an alien into the mix.

Still haven't seen The Social Network and probably never will.

I just recently saw Our Idiot Brother, and I loved it. It got some bad reviews, and it said that all the funny parts were in the commercials, but I disagree. There was some dry humor (my favorite), and just all around honesty. It shows how often human being lie to one another. And Paul Rudd (the idiot Brother) is trhe only person in the movie to be completely honest with everybody.

I also saw Winnie the Pooh. Some of the characters were noticably different, but I liked it regardless. It's Fuckin' Pooh Bear.

Finally sat through all of Little Fockers. Meet the Parents was funny, Meet the Fockers was irritating, Little Fockers is just crap. It's like the ending just fell apart.

All this suspense and drama of mistaken infidelity and so on was just solved with Robert De Niro going, "I believe you," when Ben Stiller/Gay Focker (that joke got REALLY old in the first film... are you fucking kidding us with the "GodFocker" jokes?) tried to explain that he wasn't cheating on his wife.

And then it just ended.

Please, for the love of whatever higher power you embrace, don't make a fourth one. I will strangle someone if I see a It's a Merry Focking Christmas or something of the like.

Have you guys seen or heard of Leviathan? It sounds like an Alien ripoff in an aquatic setting, with the same Alien special effects crew or something like that.

I'm pretty curious about it, lol...
