So, I was surprised to see that there is no Halo Reach thread...I made a poll (don't know if it will show, though...I've had issues in the past) Anyway, I got it Tuesday night (9/14/10) and beat it yesterday (9/15/10) on normal for story. I plan to beat it on Legendary this weekend. Then I'm going to play the other 4 halo games in chronological order. Halo 1, Halo 2 (until the jump to Delta Halo), Halo 3: ODST, Halo 2 (after jumping to Delta Halo), Halo 3.

Anyway...This game is very epic, and has great visuals and audio. Although we already knew how Reach would end, it was still sad and actually quite fun. Multiplayer is fun, but I haven't gotten the time to truly experience it. Also, the Forge mode is INCREDIBLE! Everything is so insanely detailed!

If anyone wants to join me, friend me on XBL - I'm Lord Alexandor (duh!) - and mention Xeogaming. I'd be more than happy to have help with H2 and H3. I might play ODST on Heroic rather than Legendary, since I already have it beaten on Legendary. All others need a Legendary run still.

Also up for discussion: Should Halo 1-3 be re-made using the Reach engine? Simply re-make the levels (exactly the same layout) with the same units, weapons, voices, etc as the originals, but with the new button layout, new graphics, and maybe armor abilities? It could be called Halo: The Legend and be one continuous single player/co-op campaign! CRAZY!? And it could include a multi-player mode that had all the original maps re-made with the Reach engine. I would pay $150 for that!!! Halo 1 with better graphics and XBL = win!

TL;DR - Halo Reach is win - get it now! I'll be playing Halo 1, 2, 3, and ODST now. Also, I think Halo 1, 2, and 3 should be re-made in the Reach engine.

This game went way beyond my expectations. I wasn't the biggest fan of all the stuff going on in Halo 2-3, but this one completely blows those games out of the water. The storytelling is so much more mature and subtle, I like that a lot. Finally the game feels like a total war, the whole ride is intense.

Epic stuff. I thought I was done with Halo, but I'm so glad this one turned out to be just what I wanted plus more. It's got the best idea's of 2-3, with a feel of the original intact. It's definitely the ultimate Halo game.

Remaking the others in this engine would certainly be amazing. As this game is a prequel, it's almost kind of anticlimatic now going from this to the trilogy, haha. It makes sense for the first game though, since it was more of a mysterious adventure rather than an all out war like most of the other games.

Halo: Reach is awesome. It's definitely the culmination of everything Bungie has learned over the years. I'd be all the for a remake of all the games or just releasing all the maps from all the games as DLC for Reach would be one of the best things ever. I wouldn't be for putting the new control scheme in the remakes. One of the first things I did in Reach was put the melee button back to B. It was like changing the jump button for Mario. I also feel a strange sense of pride with the Halo 2 nameplate. Makes me feel like a Halo veteran.

I'll one up you and say I use the original logo nameplate, from Halo PC.

I like the melee button on that right shoulder now, since I got used to it with Bad Company.

They should definitely put in some more maps. The Forge ones are awesome but I'd like most original ones too.

I agree that the melee button change was very odd and took some getting used to, but I think it is better on the shoulder than B. This way, you can still move while doing melee.

Also, how do you get the different nameplate? I wrote a mini-review of Halo: Reach on my website/blog. If you can get a copy of the soundtrack, do so. It is epic. It is released to stores on the 28th of September, 2010, but there is a leaked copy floating on the high seas...

Yeah, I didn't have it for the PC I had it for the Xbox, but I could one up you and put Marathon: Durandal as my nameplate. LA, you change your name plate by going on Bungie.net and signing in then going to your profile, game settings, then nameplates. Also, the reason I didn't play with you a couple days ago was I was playing with a few of my friends and we already had four so we didn't want to play some big team stuff. We should definitely pick a day where we could all play together.

If we got a bunch of Xeogamers on XBL, that would be epic. Also, don't worry about the party-drop - I had to get offline a few minutes later anyway.

I changed my nameplate to the spartan helmet today. I can get all of the public nameplates except the Marathon 2: Durandal one. Maybe I'll have to go get it and say I have all of them...

e- Nevermind. I was comparing console games to PC games.

But if you want to know what I was posting; I basically asked if Halo was still "Slow". As in turning and such, But I am sure you can calibrate the way you turn to shoot someone.

Also, I might not try this out. But I will say that a friend of mine at work can't stop talking about this game. So I might need to check it out sooner or later.

Yeah dude, sensitivity has been around since forever in most good [on a technical level] console FPS's.

I keep raising the sensitivity on both the PC and consoles though, lately I've even had to max it out on some FPS's on consoles, PC is always going to have more limits there. I've got Reach set to 8/10 right now and could probably go higher, lol.

LA: Yeah, the OST is incredible, very consistently somber and awesome. At first I was a little skeptical for awhile, but it all grew on me. It's certainly a good bit different than the other games but it works for Reach really well. And well, you can still tell it's Marty with the heavy bass/drum use here and there, haha. I definitely didn't get a sense of "Hollywood-ized" music syndrome here, like a lot of modern games nowadays. This is definitely an OST I'm getting.

I agree with you there. The music is great and feels like an epic movie, but it also really showcases the theme of Reach - struggle and hope in the face of impossible odds. The somber tones really lend themselves to the game experience.

Also, I've been playing a lot of matchmaking and I have to say that I like some of the new team objective game types. I really like Hot Potato and Headhunter Pro.

I saw Hot Potato... haven't played it though, what is it?

Also I just wrapped up the original Halo again, a major nostalgia bomb for me. I've beaten that game way too many times.

Now, I'm moving unto Halo 2! Which I literally think I've only finished twice. Really digging it so far, despite always having a sour taste for the game... overall I think my main beef with where Bungie messed up, is trying to split the Covenant and focused too much on them in 2-3. There was already a galactic war between the humans, Covenant, and the Flood, they didn't need to break it up anymore than that. They did, and suddenly the Elites, the most ruthless, cunning, and largest faction of the Covenant is somehow instantly faded out and they decide to buddy up with the humans right away!

I also remember some of the stuff with the Overmind (was that its name?) was a little inconsisntently messy between the two games. But we'll see, I definitely plan on hitting up Halo 3 afterwards as well, it's been awhile on that one too. The multiple Halo thing kind of cheapens the experience too... in a way. Regardless, it seems safe to say it's been an amazing series all around and the games are still very fun regardless of the convoluted story junk here and there.

I can't really recommend ODST though LA, I dunno about you (if you've ever played it before) but that one really bored me to tears, lol. Worth one play through for me I guess, but the most excitement I got out of it was just simply seeing the Engineers later in the game since I knew about them from the books (and they're in Reach!).

All in all, 2-3 are very solid, and Reach-1 are probably my favorites.

Hot Potato is Oddball with an exploding ball. The ball explodes at random time intervals to prevent camping. Its great fun.

Also, I have played Halo: CE (PC and XBox), Halo 2 (XBox only), Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo Wars, Halo Reach, and Halo Zero (indie game for PC, not by Bungie). I've also dabbled in Halo PC Custom Edition, but that was kind of meh.

I like Halo 3 and Reach the best. I beat 2 one time on normal, and I only really like a few levels. Its just...bleh. I like the story in ODST (beat it 3 times) and I liked firefight. I never really liked Halo 2 except for the multiplayer maps and custom game types. I haven't touched it since Halo 3 came out...I feel bad for that... Also, I think the differences between Halo 1 and Halo 2 made 2 feel really strange. Not to mention that many of the changes were reverted in 3. That's why I would like to see 2 re-done in the Reach engine...

ODST is my least favorite of the series. Releasing as a full game was just stupid because it didn't have it's own multiplayer just firefight. It should of been released as a downloadable game/DLC or just not made at all. In Reach I have been playing a lot of Score Attack-Gruntpocalypse. I get at least 1200+ credits every game and level up really quick.

Niiiice, I might have to do this a bit. Haven't played for a few days now but I got the blue visor!

Halo CE (as in Custom Edition) rocked! Did you ever play some of the popular maps like New Mombasa Classic? Those and some of the Gearbox maps were better than anything Bungie ever made, lol. Hopefully some people can end up recreating some of the PC classics in Forge.

Yeah so now I'm a few levels in Halo 2. It's been fun, but there are definitely noticeable changes and lack of polish here and there. Elites are pretty damn easy (less you're playing Legendary and trying to take on those jetpack Elites or something), and a lot of guns are worthless now like the Needler, Plasma Pistol, etc. I'm trying not to duel wield much since I just don't care for it. Battle Rifle is fun stuff but I definitely miss the AR and the GOOD pistol.

Other than that, there's been some weird places in the game where I feel like I'm stuck, but I just have to keep fighting numerous waves of enemies for what feels like way too long. Some of these parts just feel odd and anticlimatic, I dunno. The pacing seems off at times. I'm also already bored of the Arbiter and his junk, lol. Also despite some of the graphical updates, the game looks dirtier and not in a pleasant way. The graphics just look very washy at times and not very solid, if that makes sense (thinking of the characters mostly here).

I need to do a run through of all the games again since I played all of them when I was around 12 and wasn't able to really follow the story or judge the game too well. I've seen people remaking Halo 2 and 3 maps on forge, but I have yet to see Halo maps remade.

Looks like MS wants to follow suit with Guitar Hero, CoD, etc, in "speeding up the releases" from here on.

RIP Halo.

I still desperately need this game. Desperately.

Believe it or not, I still haven't played ODST, either.
I've beaten Halo, Halo 2 and Halo 3 on legendary, but they were pains in the ass. The original the most so, but i haven't played that one in a while.

As for your post, Xeo, I hate MS. This is going to completely ruin the series for me.

The trick to fighting Elite's that worked flawlessly in the original works again in this one: Charged plasma pistol shot to take out shields, then headshot them with something for a quick kill.

I'm a few levels into solo Legendary now, it definitely seems doable. The Hunters are gonna be pretty damn ruthless though, so far I've fought them twice. The worst part so far is the friendly AI, especially when you're driving vehicles. You have two options: A) have a horrible gunner, B) or if you'd rather be gunner, have a horrible driver. Even ghosts can wipe you out almost instantly, so it's been very annoying so far.

Halo's driving and gunning AI got progressively better, but reach somehow isn't as good as Halo 3's AI to me. But, I plan on just plowing through the games...maybe on co-op.

I haven't seen any of the remakes. I'll have to go get them. Also, I don't think I'll be buying (m)any of the "halo games" not made by Bungie. I might rent them to see if they are still following the Halo Universe's rules, but I'm a fan of Bungie just as much as I am a fan of Halo.
