I get to appeal my teacher's decision to boot me out of class because he wasn't following school policy! And I get to save $13,000 by transferring 27 units from college. Totally awesome. Also, I found my night guard! It was in the gun case. |

| I'll be out of town for a few days. Back in time for Anime Expo. So... I'll be AFK for a week and some change. D'oh...
In other news, I've been in Hollywood for 4 of the last 7 days. Different reason every day. Sometimes it was to see a friend's show, get a sandwich, get an ice cream sandwich, see a band I liked, etc... Hollywood isn't near as glamorous as people think it is. In fact it's one big shit-hole. And it's been IN-fucking-SANE this past week. |

| So I've been allowed a little computer access before we leave for home, where I'm getting dropped off for Anime Expo.
It's REALLY hot where I currently am. Drank a lot of sampler beer at all these microbreweries out here. Almost died sliding off a rock into white water rapids. Went digging for sharks' teeth. Had a deep fried ham sandwich. Watched all of Futurama. It's been an OK trip. |

| All right! Five posts in a row! Giggity. So Bakersfield was incredibly hot. Not much to see, but like many places where there are not many sites, there is outstanding food. Best cheese fries and milk shakes yet. \\r\\n\\r\\nAnime Expo was cool, but REALLY tame compared to past years despite there being way more people in attendance. Still... plenty to see. We found so many wonderful things in his house, like his old pictures from when he was a little boy. There one of him on a horse, wearing a cowboy hat. Bob was what is known as a nisei, a second generation Japanese and an American citizen, and when he was young, he and his family were placed in an internment camp in the middle of nowhere. There are pictures of his mother wearing a kimono, and there are hundreds of postcards to and from Japan. The stamps are old, the photos are old. We also found his father's paper of intent to emigrate to the U.S. While going through his jar of matchbooks, I found a Zippo lighter inscribed for someone who was in the Vietnam War (don't know whose it was since Bob was too old to fight in Vietnam). And Bob had so many books or so many different things: mythology, archaeology, philosophy, astrology, astral projection. And countless books about Japanese culture and bushido. I really miss Bob. He was a great guy. It was really unfortunate that he had a stroke and forgot who he was. The only reason why we were contacted about Bob was because the only identification he had in his wallet was my dad's business card. And like I've said, his sister didn't want anything to do with him. R.I.P. Bob. Even if not by your sister, you were loved. |
