And the part of Hal Jordan shall be played by...

So one of the 'two guys' of "Two Guys, a Girl, and a Pizza Place" (not to mention Van Wilder, etc) is making the jump from Marvel to DC.

And yet, he's still playing Deadpool in his own movie. Heh.

Dang, one guy plays two superheroes (or just superpowered beings).

Has this ever even been done before?

Well the closest seems to be Christian Bale playing two leading hero roles--Batman and John Connor.

Maybe Patrick Stewart playing both Captain Picard and Professor X?

Hmmm...

Ryan Reynolds? Are you fucking serious. He is a taint to superhero movies. He ruins Blade, he ruins Wolverine, now he wants DC to get a taste?

More like, Wolverine ruined him. I think he could play an excellent Deadpool, but that guy with all the powers in the second half of Wolverine ... was not Deadpool!

Well, never have been much of a big Green Lantern fan myself, but this could be interesting.

The exact words that I've been using. I thought he was great for the relatively small amount of screen-time that he actually got, but the "Deadpool" at the end was just... Stupid. It was a cool scene, don't get me wrong, but you can't just kill him off like that,
Spoiler:
even though he dies multiple times in the comic... but there's a point to each of his deaths and each of the times he comes back to life.
I bet in the new movie, they're going to do a ridiculous copout and just say that his regeneration kicks in and just grows back his head or something.

I'm more of a Green Arrow woman myself. But hey, if Hal gets a picture sooner or later Ollie will too. Hopefully with Dinah. Oo la la.

Little tip to the new Deadpool fans, though... Wade can reattach his head when it's been cut off.

Silly Xeo. He ruined it. He ruined Wolverine, which ruined him. Him entering the set cursed everything. Hard to concieve maybe, but his mere presence on the set causes everyone to suffer. The CGI goes to crap, the actors act worse, directors make weird moves, movies go in strange directions (messed up that everyone got to see at the end).

Ryan Reynolds is an agent of Movie Satan, sent to ruin the likes of movies. The genre he has been assigned is superhero movies.

I can mostly agree there. Romantic comedies he's fine in because he hasn't been sent to ruin them.

Well to be fair, most romantic comedies follow the same formula: Boy meets girl. Boy gets with girl. Boy loses girl. Boy gets girl back. Love conquers all.

It all started in the '30s when Depression era movie goers were more interested in heartwarming endings they could count on in such trying times.

And yet with the economy the way it's going people are once again turning to superheroes for their comfort. No arguments here.

But yeah, in truth most chick flick romantic comedies these days are definitely boring and corny.

For the record, about the DC and Marvel thing...

James Marsdon would be a smaller point, since he actually played a superhero (Cyclops) for Marvel, while not so much a superhero in his DC movie "Superman."

Halley Berry however, is a much stronger example. Her Marvel thing was, as you all know, Storm, but (beware, it may burn everyone's eyes to read what I'm about to say) she also played Catwoman for....Yuppers...DC.

Oh, and...I like Ryan Reynolds...

But I can see him playing an excellent Deadpool. Wade is very sarcastic and quirky, and I think Ryan has that.

Also, and don't quote me on this one, but I think they're going to ignore the Deadpool from Weapon X. Reynolds has said in interviews and such that he was a sincere Deadpool fan and would love nothing more than to stick as close as possible to the actual comics.

(And c'mon guys, give these things a little break. Comics and movies are two different forms of media. Each has their own form of restrictions and plus sides, so it won't be EXACTLY the same.)

You know who really needs to hear that last line? The Watchmen fans. I'm so completely and utterly sick of the bullshit they're spouting in criticism of the movie.

Seriously. I'm a HUGE Watchmen fan and I loved the movie as its own entity.

But in regards to actors "crossing over" between comic book companies in the form of movies, let's not forget Doug Jones. The man is both Abe Sapien (Hellboy, published by Dark Horse) and the Silver Surfer (Marvel published). And looking into his past, he did a bit part in Batman Returns.

Then of course there's Hellboy, Ron Perlman, himself. He's crossed both the DC/Marvel and Stars Wars and Trek lines, not to mention doing voices for Disney.

NO. MOVIES MUST BE EXACTLY LIKE COMICS.

ACTUALLY YOU KNOW WHAT LET'S RID OF THE ACTORS AND JUST HAVE IT BE ANIMATED COMIC FRAMES.

As much as I'd wish that they would do that (see Resident Evil: Degeneration versus the live action ones), most simple-minded moviegoers don't want to see a "cartoon". Hollywood is about appealing to the masses and making a quick buck, not actually giving a damn about hardcore fans.

The main one that I keep hearing is how "waaah, a giant squid doesn't destroy the world!". If you look closely at the bomb, you see S.Q.U.I.D. on the side. I personally loved that one!

That, and the sex scene in "Archie." I'm so tired of everyone picking on it, when it freakin' happened in the book just like it. Fire and everything.

Hell, people were even picking on the fact that Snyder put it to Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah." For crying out loud, if you've read the book you know that Niteowl's been pining over Silk Spectre II for years AND being a superhero is what completes him.

/rant

But yeah, the squid and the sex scene.

I've never seen that S.Q.U.I.D., but I'll definitely be sure to look for it. Thanks for the tip.

You going to watch the director's cut when it comes out?

Am I going to watch it? Yes. Even better question, am I going to own it? Probably 3 copies. There can never be enough blue penis!

I goofed, it's on a sign in Veidt's lab. Thank you, piratebay (until I can own an authentic copy...)!
