Interesting article, although it does epically fail at one point:

Apparently these are pictures from the upcoming Super Bowl ad they're going to put on:
I love how they made Bennet look like Tom Landry. (Last edited by Rogue on 01-30-09 07:59 PM) |

Didn't watch the Super Bowl, but NBC posted the commercial on their site:

yet another plot twist with Noah switching sides, or showing his original colors.
Anyways, I'm getting really turned off by this show. I mean, with people working in the government, and being super rich, how can Claire and Peter expect their cell phones not being tapped. It's not realistic, I sure as hell wouldn't use my phone in their world. Also, why the heck was Hiro kidnapped from his own country; I though it was a homebrew thing to gather people in the US with the President involved, not to catch people from all over the world. Makes no sense |

I'm sorry, man, but your complaints don't make much sense. The whole capturing super powered people thing is supposed to draw a lot of parallels to terrorism, which IN the show they're pretty much using it as a cover for. America kidnaps terrorist suspects all over the world, what makes Hiro Nakamura any different?
Also, the whole cell phone thing. Peter and Claire didn't even know what Nathan was planning until it was too late. Why would they be paranoid enough not to use their cell phone until then? |

I think I should also note that this isn't Noah switching sides. He's always fought against superhumans, he just left the company earlier to protect his daughter, who he believes is an exception to the super powered rule.
Mostly, they're just going after people powerful enough to be dangerous, which is what Noah has always done. He's just switched employers. I will say though, if they travel to find yet another apocalyptic future...I might give up on the show. It does look like it's going in another direction though. Seriously, there is a lot in it that I like. Sylar is awesome, of course, and the storyline is starting to get interesting.
The problems are mostly just because I didn't really like volume 3 after the eclipse episodes. It honestly nearly ruined the characters for me. I admit that it could get a lot better, and that's why I'm watching it still, but it just hasn't reached the level of awesomeness I'd like from it yet. I do expect it'll do that before the end of the season though, thanks to an old writer returning. |

Originally posted by Vulkar Admittedly, I've blacked out those parts of my memory. It leaves far less of a stain on this volume. I still can't believe how freaking anticlimactic the serum/Super Soldier storyline was. What's more, I still feel it'd be in the best interest of the show to stop getting rid of new characters so quickly and to finally have the balls to kill off "main" characters in a large ensemble show. My conclusion: bring back Monica and KILL Claire. But overall, I am definitely digging the Sylar/new lackey storyline. Still wish that he'd kept Elle around, but it was something of a strange relationship between them. Pretty hot, though. EDIT: And I'm LOVING that Peter can only pick up and use one power at a time. Thank you, writers! We DO NOT need two godlike characters who can pick up unlimited powers. After a while, they'd either need to go villain or be eliminated from the show. In general this volume's pretty good. (Last edited by Rogue on 02-11-09 11:14 AM) |

Claire's not going to die. Elle only left because the Kristen Belle is a movie star now and didn't feel like committing to the show. (She was Sylar's baby mommy).
Monica might come back. We can hope. Oh, and Daphne isn't dead. I'm convinced. |

It figures. Seriously. No one on the show is allowed to have a significant other for more than a season. Think about it. Janice. Heidi. Simone. Zach (who may or may not have been revealed as gay despite a possible relationship with Claire). Eden. Charlie. D.L. Caitlin. Yaeko. West. Maya. Elle....
Even if they aren't killed off, once they become much more involved with a character they suddenly are written out. Even Arthur Petrelli showed up for less than a season and was killed off. The only exception to this rule is the Bennet family. Bennet's a family man first. Shame no one gives a shit about Lyle. I think it's the writers trying to keep all of them open to possible pairings in the future, but seriously, this just fuels my dislike of characters getting killed off or written out too quickly. I mean, does ANYONE give a shit about characters Sylar meets and kills in a single episode any more? To be honest, I stopped caring immediately after he and Mohinder met the woman who had super-hearing abilities. Now going back to the main topic, I seriously don't think Daphne's dead and if she has actually been killed boo on the writers. Jeph Loeb and Jesse Alexander's names are still on the credits, so I'm still holding out for the episodes Bryan Fuller took over before I make any final decisions. EDIT: And where the hell is Molly? She was "sent away," but no one seems to care. If she falls into the wrong hands the heroes are fucked, especially with them all being hunted down. (Last edited by Rogue on 02-12-09 05:11 PM) |

Originally posted by VulkarOriginally posted by Cairoi Yeah, I was talking about that scene with a friend today. Really anticlimatic. I think my biggest issue with the show now is that the writing/directing just isn't that great at all and there's been no real direction since season one. There's also way too much of a gap in performances between many of the actors in it, some are excellent (Sylar), some are downright horrible (Peter). (Last edited by Xeu on 02-12-09 08:00 PM) |

In all honesty, I never really liked Daphne to begin with. The whole relationship between her and Parkman seemed forced. Like in an alternate future (that has been altered), they were together so they MUST get together now.
It's sort of like Daphne telling Ando when he's worried about Hiro, "You kill him in the future, so he's still alive." That future was based on the development of the serum that would give anyone who wanted powers some sort of ability, for crying out loud. The serum has since been destroyed. What's more in that alternate future Ando shot his red lightning charge at Hiro, who's to say he wasn't just charging him up? Afterall, Hiro couldn't hear what they were saying. Now granted Ando and Daphne didn't see the future, and Hiro was rather vague when he told them what he saw, but wouldn't they realize that future should no longer exist? I wonder if Parkman is ever going to return to his wife to find out how his kid is doing. Even though he suspected the kid was actually the other guy's since she cheated on him, in his subconscious (as revealed by Maury Parkman), he knew the child was his. Or is he just going to be like his father and not bother coming back? I'd just like to find out if the kid has any abilities. Maybe it'll be taken in as a terrorist. Who knows? |

I like Matt with Daphne, and I like Daphne, but their relationship is a little forced. And yeah, that future isn't happening, but it's Daphne and Ando, who aren't on top of understanding how time travel works (it's mainly Peter and Angela who really understand it).
They've already revealed through spoilers that Janice and Matt's baby will be returning this season, and the baby will have a power. |
