At A Life 4 Sale, Australian man Ian Usher is selling his life on eBay.
BBC Article eBay Auction Page His life is at about AU$ 311,000. Up for auction is his three-bedroom home in the western Australian city and everything inside it, including his car, motorcycle, jet ski and parachuting gear. This includes all of his friends as well. Mr Usher said: "Everything that I have - the furniture in the house - all has memories attached to it. It's time to shed the old, and in with the new. "On the day it's all sold and settled, I intend to walk out of my front door with my wallet in one pocket and my passport in the other, nothing else at all. "My current thoughts are to then head to the airport and ask at the flight desk where the next flight with an available seat goes to, and to get on that and see where life takes me from there." I wish I could just walk out on life, auction off my life and go somewhere. But, I'd need at least $300,000 USD to accomplish that, taking care of all my debts, the lease on the apartment, and having a bit left over for travel and investments and securing a new life. Although, I don't own much and I don't think I could part with my minivan. Thoughts? Would you auction away (if you owned something substantial) your entire life to start anew? |

I think as long as I kept my two laptops I could really go anywhere there was an internet connection XD. Seriously though I spend almost all my time at home on my computer. I could easily live anywhere as long as I had my computers. And seeing as how there laptops I could be a number of places. I don't particularly like this house so I wouldn't have any problem selling it.... If I owned it.
Edit: I think I would want my cell phone too. (Last edited by NUCKLEARKNIGHT on 06-24-08 06:49 PM) |

Well I'll just say this, guess it's finally official - there's nothing on eBay you can't find.

Or, more specifically, most things on eBay you can't sell.
But, this wasn't really a question of what you could and couldn't live without, this was a question of if you would ever actually consider selling everything and then starting a new life. Not just what you need to survive, but selling everything--job, friends, home, possession, etc--and starting completely new some place else. Would you ever do that? |

to tell you the truth I think I would. Ive been considering that thought for a while now. Mostly because I need something different. Growing up and living in the same small area all your life kinda bogs people down.
so, if I had the chance. and could sell everything for even just 100,000 USD I would. |

Well in that case I don't think I would. I really like the friends I have and the atmosphere I live in. I wouldn't sell it.

I honestly don't think I could just sell everything and start over.
I really want to, but only because of the debt that i've managed to rack up. Other than that, I love my friends, I love my family, I love my life, and I love my minivan and Whitey. No matter what amount of debt and such, I don't think I can willingly just give up my life for any dollar amount. And, I know about the getting bogged down, but I took care of that and moved to NorCal. And, then I moved again to the other side of the SF Bay and with a coworker. Tried the roommate thing, and I like it. It's new, and while I do miss my friends, I haven't "sold" them. They're just 45 minutes or 5 hours away. |
