Just finished the first volume of Robert Kirkman's Battle Pope. Prior to that I finished reading Identity Crisis a few days ago as well as the first volume of Usagi Yojimbo.

I tried Persepolis, but it just got too dry. Got halfway through it after casually reading it here and there and just ended up returning it to the library today without any concern for finishing it EVER.

Anyway, I need more comics to sink some teeth into. I recently acquired the 300 graphic novel and Phoenix: Endsong. We'll see what comes of that.

Also have two more volumes of Battle Pope to finish. Need to find the fourth one online somewhere.

EDIT: Just finished those two volumes.

Since I'm going on vacation tomorrow, maybe I'll lug the volumes of Sin City I've got at home and finally plow through those.

Still haven't been able to start that damn book thanks to school and another series that I've started.

So yes, since last time I have read The Golden Ass by Apuleius for my Pagan Culture class. It was really funny and well written for a Roman fiction story.

Currently reading A Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, part of the Song of Ice and Fire series. Halfway done with the book almost and I love it so far.

Hey, I never realized that this thread was here... and I read at least 2 or 3 books a month. I just finished Kim Harrison's newest book, "The Outlaw Demon Wails" which is book 6 in her Rachel Morgan series. It was pretty fast paced, good character development and funny as always.

A book that I really want to read, but haven't had the chance to is called "Thirteen Reasons Why" which is about a girl who committed suicide and records herself giving thirteen reasons why she is going to do kill herself. A boy is one of the reasons, and he is one of the main characters in the book. A girl I work with said that it was one of the best teen books she's ever read.

And.... I'm currently in the middle of "City of Ashes" which is the second book in a trilogy about a girl who was raised normally but actually "Nephilum" (or something, can't figure out how to spell it right now...), and finds that her father is some evil mastermind and there are others like here and are known as Shadowhunters who generally protect humans, werewolves, warlocks, vampires and the fae from demons, etc. It's quite good, even if it is only a teenager's book. ^-^;

I just finished reading the ever so popular Twilight series.

I don't have a lot of say about, because I don't like explaining things. It's definitely a young adult series and it's pretty popular right now. It's a vampire/romance..etc.
I really enjoyed the first three books actually, I am looking forward to the last book that comes out in August.

I also read a Steven King book in Costa Rica called Pet Semetery . It was my first horror and I actually didn't get to finish it... Why you ask? Being perfectly honest... a monkey stole it from me, haha.

Yeah, I started it a while ago just for shits and giggles. It sort of serves as our online book club. Maybe help you find some new titles you might like.

That's crazy.

Stranger than fiction you might say.

Anyway, am burning through the list I mentioned, and am kinda ticked that I may have to buy Usagi Yojimbo Vol. 4 as my library seems to have all of them except #4. Oh well.

If only graphic novels weren't so damn expensive.

Yeah, my library's starting to carry more manga and graphic novels, which is cool and all, but they don't carry anything they deem inappropriate. So I can't read most series that I like.

Another problem with it, as I mentioned, is that they'll have #2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 13, etc, and not have all of a series. Not just because someone has it checked out, but because they just don't have it. Or maybe someone lost it and it was taken off the system.

Since I go to a few conventions a year, I can get a lot of them cheaper. Most graphic novel sellers have them in the long boxes at 50% off. Problem is they often don't carry what I'm looking for and rarely are these things in any particular order.

Finished the first volume of League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, as well as the Marvel Civil War off-shoots for Runaways & Young Avengers and X-men.

Still waiting on my copy of Usagi Yojimbo #4 to arrive at my library on-loan from another somewhere.

Will probably go through Frank Miller's Batman Year One in a few minutes. Also just read the first volume of Cromartie High School. Yeah, I know, manga's a quick read.

- Harlequin Valentine
- The New Avengers: Breakout

So, I don't know who here knows who Stefanie Meyer is (she wrote the teen books Twilight, New Moon, and Eclipse). She wrote an adult novel titled The Host.

Now, I can't say that I actually liked her books, but more, I love the way she writes. It flows so smoothly.

I'm just finishing up The Host right now, I read about 350 pages of it yesterday afternoon. It's an interesting concept: Aliens take over our Earth, and use the human bodies as hosts. The main characters are a human host, and the alien who took over her body. The only thing is, the human mind never left, so there are two minds trapped in one body. The alien falls in love with the human's memories of Jared, and the human's brother, Jamie.

It all gets pretty weird, and it's all hard to understand (one of the reasons I don't like it), because you're just thrown into the melee without explanation, so I'm going to have to read this book again in order to understand it, blah.

(Fiction that is)

Was pretty good I like his style and it's always interesting to read.

That and reread all of the halo books.

Currently reading Che Guevara: A Revolutionary Life, and so far I'm liking it a lot, as the author isn't making him a hero, or demonizing him, but just telling his story. I think I'm about 1/4th through it.

I just finished reading K-PAX (There was a Kevin Spacey movie of it a few years ago), and it was great. One of my all time favorite books. It's almost like a sci-fi version of One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest, but deeper. One of my favorite lines:

"Do you love her [your mother]"

"Love would imply hate."

Got the other two books on hold at the library, along with Shogun.

I'm also reading scans of Runaways during class when I'm pretending to take notes.
