Okay, this is seriously the best game I've played for the 360. Not only are the visuals just completely stunning, but the characters seem so real! Every character you meet (party member or not) seems to have their own personality and the worlds are so believable that it just blew me away. Also, I'm not that easily impressed, so coming from me, you have to listen!

I'll wrap it up for anybody who's interested.

The gameplay is like if you added first person shooting to KOTOR. You basically travel around, gathering info like in that game, and there's kind of a good/bad system, but it has no apparent effect on the story (not that I know of).

The story is this: 100 years in the future, we're traveling all across the galaxy (that soon? Keep reading!) and have our history with many alien species. Now, the thing that makes all of this happen so quickly is that we found now-extinct Protean technology on Mars when we first successfully colonized it. This jumped our tech ahead by hundreds of years. Also, we're probably the last race that ventured out in to the galaxy, making us untrusted by the other alien races, especially the Turians.

My favorite part about the game is definitely the dialog system. "Dialog system? What are you, nuts??"

No, I'm completely sane, at least on this topic. Yes, the dialog system (ala KOTOR and Jade Empire) lets you choose different responses to different conversations. And yes, your main character speaks!! The nice part about the system is that you can finish your choice before the NPC finishes speaking, resulting in fluid, realistic speech. Also, depending on how you speak (rough and tumble or polite) will affect how NPCs react to you later in the game.

Overall, I give this game a 9.5/10. I absolutely love it.

Anyone else play this remarkable game?

I have yet to play it, but this game is my reason for getting a 360. Honestly, I was hooked on this game when I saw a video of it about six months ago. The fighting looks awesome, the dialogue system is ace (Although FX sent my a CtrlAltDel comic that showed a flaw in it... NO BRITISH OPTION! ) and the graphics look very realistic with the characters! The whole thing looks awesome and I cannot wait until christmas!

Same as Ryan, if I get an Xbox 360, Mass Effect will be the first game I get.

Then I'll get Halo 3 and all those other games I'm missing out on.

No, its not "if" you get a 360. Its a "when". This game is worth getting the system for (hell, that's why I got mine!).

Exactly why this christmas:
Main Present = 360 with Mass Effect.

Although I'm gonna have to explain expclicitly to my mum that I do not want the Core. It's likely she'll look at it and think "OH! This one's £50 cheaper! I'll get that one." Hell, I wouldn't mind giving my mum my upcoming paycheck just to make sure I get the good version.

And Vulkar, I highly doubt Halo 3 has anything comparable to Mass Effect. Mass Effect is just too awesome.

I got it for my birthday, haven't played it yet though due to school work and my 360 needing to be hooked up again. I am glad to hear such good reviews though, since I had been disappointed that I didn't get Assassin's Creed.

I was so hyped over the game that I've bought it in anticipation of my 360 this christmas. Yes, i own the game before the 360, SO WHAT!?! I'M NOT OBSESSED!!!

Anyway, My friend also bought the game and him and I are going through it... The game is so much fun it's unbelievable.

I get bored very easily, as certain people I talk to on MSN will know. I played this game for 4 and a half hours straight and I did not get bored. I'm certain I'll complete it twice before I get my 360 and I won't get bored of it.

Fighting is awesome. It's so easy to change weapon and use abilities, and the whole time stopping thing while selecting a weapon/ability really helps. It's unfortunate that the time stop thing doesn't happen for moving units (Or I haven't figured out how to...) like the videos showed, but you can still order them around during battle which is useful for sending your allies to places where they would be more useful.

The enemy AI seems pretty good. They appear to use snipers for supression fire while their short-ranged combat units shoot and move forward, and they use cover well. Then again, it's very easy to use this technique against the enemy. It also takes a bit of thought to fight too, as running at the enemy with all guns blazing only works with one or two enemies.

I love the large range of enemies there are too. I think the main divide between the enemies is synthetic and organic, then each of those has some little sub groups. They all do their own little things, like some are great with biotics (The 'magical' abilities in the game) while others will use their weapons mostly.

It's insane how much you can modify! Firstly there's the leveling up of characters which you gain experience from fighting, talking to certain people or about certain things, or simply examining certain objects. Next there's the modification of weapons which can increase their power dramatically.

Talking about modification, just making the character is a very customizable process. You can change so much about your character, mainly what their face looks like. I don't know much about this as my account on my friend's XBox I chose the regular John Shephard. My friend told me a little about customizing the character and from what I've read in the guide book it's very elaborate. In the same set of screens, you also choose a class and personality for your character which can change how you should fight in battle and how others react to you.

The talking sequences and cutscenes are stunning, especially with the conversation wheel. If you use it correctly you can have very fluid and realistic conversations with people, although I have yet to make my character interupt someone.

My first problem with the game is that mainly during conversation, the character models appear to jump and skip as if animation is missing. It happens occasionally in gameplay too, like entering a lift causes your allies to jump to your position and everyone is suddenly facing the exit of the elevator.

Whenever the camera passes through an active model (Like another character) the model disappears, although this is probably to prevent the camera seeing inside the models and making it look glitchy.

There are also issues with framerate. As powerful as the 360 is, there are times in the game where it slows down, especially during combat with enemies that use a lot of Biotic or Tech abilities.

However, despite these little flaws, the game still rocks big time.

In the voice of Rodney Reynolds: This is a kickass product!

I'll possibly edit this very-mini-review later, this computer's keyboard has a buggared up space bar... I'm gonna get serious repetitive strain injury from it. It just sticks and doesn't press in very well.

EDIT: Changed keyboard.

Its an absolute must own folks. Its very late while I type this, so grammar and whatnot may be off ...

I'll get the bad out of the way first:
- Technical issues riddle the game at times, this is kind of expected with Bioware games I guess though. The framerate is bumpy at times but worse than this is textures popping in and out, usually when you enter a new place. But if you're someone who's gotten used to this since Halo 2, its not a big deal. The absolute worst bug though is that you can get stuck in somethings at times, but this has rarely happened.
- Items get rather dull and uninteresting. There's really not a lot of customization with weapons and that's all you can buy, equipment. The guns don't have different models, instead they just change palatte's. My ultimate tip is at the beginning of the game convert all items you aren't going to equip to Omni-gel, then later in the game sell them. Why? There's a 150 item limit that you can hit insanely fast. Because of the massive selling, you'll find yourself having practically infinite money throughout the majority of the game.
- Sidequests are insanely repetitive, the unexplored planet ones. Land on the planet, go to a few dig sites getting minerals and items, then go into some bunkers, kill some stuff. Repeat this 30 more times or so. The silly explanations like "Oh this science team is missing" or "The Geth have a camp here" doesn't really cut it either, its just really basic. BUT, its still fun if you like leveling up and getting some good drops. Driving around on the planets was the worst though, wasn't a fan of the Mako ...

Besides that stuff, this is among my top favorite games currently on the 360. It took me a chunky 30 hours to finally finish and I completed a good chunk of the sidequests and everything. Characters are absolutely amazing and the choices in dialogue are excellent.

This is also one of the first next-gen RPG's I've played again directly after beating it. Right away, I went into the game to start up a New Game + and to try out being completely evil while bumping up the difficulty a bit. Its amazing seeing how different your choices effect things and just how much it completely redefines your character. The cool part with New Game + is that the enemies basically level up with you, so right off the bat you're fighting worthwhile foes and getting great drops. I can see myself playing again with other classes again as well, to try out new tactics and whatnot. Achievements in this game also unlock bonuses for new games and characters, for the ultimate diehard players here you can eventually make your character pretty godly.

The music, art design, and the plot, are all extremely way above par. The originality is through the roof and while the end sets it up perfectly for the next installments in the series (its been stated to be a Trilogy), the ending is still extremely satisfying and leaves you off with great closure. Think Star Wars Episode IV. You will truly feel like you accomplished something, while the true battle awaits in the future.

I really really really REALLY love this game. I've found only a few bugs that will probably be fixed relatively soon. One annoying one was where you can't fire your weapon for no reason at all... Its like it jams... But its rare when it DOES happen. GOD, I LOVE THIS GAME!

You sure its not super overheated or something?

I dunno, I noticed sometimes my weapons were like ultra overheated and the bar wouldn't go down, but I could switch to other weapons and use them.

I haven't quite figured out how to switch the weapons yet. Or how to have different characters use different weapons. That and my lack of money are the only real problems with the game. I love the character creation, the main story, and the fact that my character actually talks! I am not a fan of shooting games because I generally suck at it, but I have to say that the rp aspect of the game makes it well worth it. Haven't beaten it yet though.

While in combat? In the equipment menu I can switch between the weapons but it seems to switch them all to the same one.

Well in battle you get the four weapons you've equipped to each character: One pistol, one shotgun, one assault rifle and one sniper rifle. If you press start and go to the equipment menu you can change which of the four types of weapon you want, depending on whether you have picked up any yet.

I believe it happens when the enemy uses the Sabotage ability. Sabotage shuts down all enemy weapons within a certain radius.

I really dont like the Xbox all that much, but this game is pretty fucking sweet if you ask me. I think it got SEVERAL awards in Gameinformer, etc magazines. Its a holiday must-have.

Have not played enough of it yet. Friend of mine has it, and I watched in awe.

Also DLC should be on it's way sometime in the future. I hope we get some cool new content and hopefully it's not another one of those boring unexplored planets.

Does Xbox Live support Downloadable Content?

PSN does that, but here lately its been a bunch of free "Christmas" updates. Once in a blue moon they come out with something great. (January is gonna blow up with both PSN and Xbox. In a Good way)
