Introduction: I realize that making this thread is unorthodox. However, based on recent events, I feel I must create this thread. As an affiliate of this board, this is the only board where I would create such a thread. But -- in so doing, some people may think this is an advertising attempt. This is not the case. As you can see where the thread is located, I am genuinely concerned with the performance of my board. If it is absolutely necessary to have this thread closed . . . then, I will completely understand. But I am asking this thread to stay as a favor and genuine concern.

History: I created my board on March 11th, 2004. Almost right away, I started receiving members. I created NFF so that people can have a peaceful board to post on and have fun. Within nine months, NFF accumulated more than 12,000 posts and over 100 members.

When the public release of AB1.A2 was released, I took the opportunity to upgrade my board since I believed the board would perform better. Little did I know that doing that will start a slow degradation of board activity. During the entire 3 years, 7 months that NFF has been opened, I have never advertised (with the exception of a thread on Elric's board), or spammed needlessly on ANY board. I believe the total amount of people I have PM'd on any board is less than 10, so about 90% of the user base on NFF have been word-of-mouth from other people that have already registered on the board.

Records: NFF has had its share of records over the last 3 ½+ years in its existence. Last year, NFF had a massive posting spree day and accumulated 650+ posts in a 24-hour period. And as of yet, NFF has still has to pass the record of 10 users online at once. I am hoping to do that soon. I’m all for making new records.

Activity: Over the past 2 years, NFF has suffered a steady degradation in activity, and over the past 3 months, activity has been less than 50 posts the entire month. Zeros are now common and sometimes no one visits in a 24-hour period. NFF has accumulated more than 27,000 posts, but taken almost 3 years to accumulate 15,000 of those posts. I'm hoping that I can bring NFF back from the dead and get more activity. Note: I realize that getting the activity back to the way it was back in 2004 is too much to ask for, but getting 15 to 20 average per day should be an easily attainable goal.

Conclusion: As an owner of NFF and an affiliate of this board, I’m hoping to bring back activity to the board, even if only a little -- and also to fully understand what went wrong that NFF has hit just about rock bottom. Some of you were active on there, but then left for whatever reason. You were a great addition to the board, and I was sad to see you go. Again, I apologize if creating this thread upsets or makes anyone uncomfortable. Thanks for reading.

I don't see any reason for this thread to be closed. I may not be staff, nor very active here or NFF as of late...but...still.

Anywho...I've always thought the two boards were closely affiliated. The members are mostly the same and the members who did the most there have done so much here as well, and vice versa...

Anywho...I really don't know much else to say except that since I intended on coming back and being active here again, I'll do the same on NFF and hopefully some people will follow suit and do the same.

Huh, were we just not affiliated in the beginning and or were you using some kind of other board software? I didn't think NFF was that old. My first incarnation of the board was Shadows Edge (all that remains ) which was 03', so if we were it would have been with Masters of Darkness?

(Hope I'm not being ignorant there. I really have my history confused a bit, even with my own boards, back then 03-04 posting was almost literally all I did, I was staff and posting on so many Acmlm Boards, etc ... )

Well its a bit weird to discuss in my specific situation, though I still say overall the whole Acmlm Board community has been in somewhat of a decline since the last few years, its effected just about every board using the software it seems. From what I thought I remembered, your board was one of the later Acmlm Boards to pop up, but I don't know.

Bah, I just don't know what to say right now. Kind of in a weird state of mind today, can't really type out what I'm thinking.

I used to be a member of Ice Board. I think I was here in 2005. Ice Man made a LOT of features to the board and including the IP locations and even turned into a HTML Acmlmboard. I even like his RPG SimBattles.

But it's officially dead now.

I was going to make my own board using my Acmlmboard, but I'm not good at PHP. And it kept crashing on me every time I do it too.

Although I don't have that many people coming to my board but XKeeper and other spammers but I have no plans for deletion of my board.

I've still use them for my personal blogs since I have one in my board.

Perhaps advertising somewhere might help bring in fresh members and spark activity. My activity has dropped on all the forums I post on due to school and stuff, but college will do that to you when you get into the upper divisions I notice.

Katana: If it wasn't for NFF being around for as long as it has and done the things it has done and had the people it had to keep it together, I wouldn't try so hard to keep it alive. It's you guys that made NFF be active, I was just there to help run it.

Xeo: I don't remember if we were affiliated from the very beginning, but I do remember you registering soon after I opened the board. Yeah, our two boards have gone through a lot over the last 3 1/2+ years.

Elara: Yeah, that's the one thing that I thought that would be looked down upon if I did that. Maybe I'll try it one of these days just to see what happens.

Spyware: Yeah, I miss the days of 2004 and 2005 the most. But you, along with all of my staff members, were staff because I believed you would do a good job and I still believe that. I'm glad things have been going well for you though. Things have been going hectic for me too lately. This year I'm going to Japan again for 10 days and then next year (hopefully) go to the school I've been trying to go to for the last year or so.

Even though August only brought about 37 posts, September brought only 21, and so far only one post has been made this month, I'm still confident that I can get some of the activity back soon.

I tried to log in just now... I tried many of the different usernames I have on various things and it didn't work, and I've tried registering with a new name, and it won't let me...

I hope you're nice to offer me an Acmlmboard. Well, I'm still not gonna trash my orginal board. I'm not very good at PHP but other Acmlmboard users like Boom.dk and Kastioga or even Peter_ac do it for them.

I might consider splitting my own boards into two. Insectduel's Board (Proboards) and Insectduel's Board II (Acmlmboard). Of course I'll be the main owner of the IDB2 Board while you VGFreak will be my programmer.

I don't mean advertising on message boards or anything like that... maybe find some way to link it to other sites affiliated with Japanese or something like that. I know that parts of the site come up high in google searches when I am looking for kanji and whatnot. More of that would be what I meant.

I'm sorry VF. =( I recently moved to California, so I haven't really had time to forum it up. Japanese is kicking my ass in school right now, so I've been trying to study.

I'll try to start posting soon though. =)

The PulP: At least you can use the internet more now, and that should be a good thing.

Danny Phantom: As far as I know, you shouldn't have any problems logging on -- a few people tried just before you did, and I didn't notice them having any problems. *shrugs* If you want, I will reset your password for you so you can log on so please let me know.

Elara: Oh I see what you're saying. When I first opened up NFF, I registered the board through Google and other search engines, but so far no one has signed up from that. About 95% have been through other ABs. I think because there is no posting, no one wants to sign up.

Shuyin: Whenever you have time man, don't worry about it. I'm glad to hear that you're busy with your studies though.

That was absoutely almost true. But it also depends on the number of members. I only have 27 of them. 15 Permabanned (Mostly of XK's accounts), 4 active and 8 inactive.

I post mostly updates and blogs but still. Even after the board is started, no one bother to register.

I forgot to mention that I even tried to register to your board but no dice. The 3 questions give me trouble.

insectduel, the first question was programmed wrong and therefore no one could register. This is fixed now, however. I do my best in making sure that my board is easy to navigate and free of errors.
