"Alright, I understand your point, but if I can lead you all through this desert before night falls, then I shall."
Xanath looked around, concentrating deeply. In his mind, he replayed every step they had taken with a form of memory-based astral projection, and found back to the cliffs. He did a small amount of thinking, and after truly focusing, he felt he had regained his sense of direction. "We march that way." The group marched on, hoping to find the road once hidden by a sandstorm. They did, after a good 20 minutes of walking, which came to the relief of all. As they walked down the path, Ken mostly kept to himself. Deep to himself, he was daydreaming on the story of the legendary Siorius Zatenrai, descendant of the Zatenrai throne, whose death in the First Terran Civil War ended the war and brought peace back to the land. He had been told the story many times. OOC: No need to read, this was more for Ken's character development then for the plot. If you wish to know some Terran lore, as well as some of Ken's personal dreams and aspirations, feel free to read though. If not, just skip on down to the next line break. Daydream: Deep within a castle, Siorius stood, surrounded by his most loyal vassals. They waited with weapons at the ready, eying up a large wooden doorway. They had been trapped in the Imperial Castle, surrounded by enemy troops. The main army was on its way from the Jade Forest, but the deed would be over long before they came. Siorius had only 5 men, strong men regardless, but 5 versus thousands seemed suicidal. So they waited here, in a nameless room of the palace, waiting intently for the enemy to find them. Siorius' personal guard had left to escort his wife far from harm. She was with child, and he would never see her harmed. He sat with blade in hand, thinking of his unborn child, Apollo. He wished to see him grow into a true king, but alas, it would be beyond his time. These were his final hours. Dallan, his Earth Totem vassal, spoke to him in a loud voice, breaking his mind's wanderings. "Sir, they approach!" He knew he was meant to live for this. His men crammed at the door, trying to save its rusty hinges from the force of the slamming waves of earth crashing upon it. He sat and stared, his mouth agape. His soul had departed many moments ago. His men turned to him, and fearing the worst, sent one to shake his resolve. He awoke to their voice, just in time to see flying shards of wood fly out. The door was broken. Before him stood hundreds of mens, with spears and swords, at the ready. And everything was quiet. Apparently, these invaders thought Siorius a coward, and that he would beg for their lives. They had no need to move in. Siorius' vassals turned to him, seeking his words. Each would die given the command. Siorius felt the eyes of all upon him, and as though in a dream, he stepped into the large gap between the two forces. He looked at his men intently, then turned and looked at the enemy army with no emotion or seeming being with him. He laid down his spear, and sheathed his sword. Looking down, his men accepted defeat at that point. But suddenly, something brave and fearless appeared in the king's eyes. He called upon the powers of Terramorphus, and the shards of wood began to float in the air, facing the enemies. "Men, I wouldn't ask this of you, but my end is here." He launched the spikes into the enemy crowd, hitting quite a few. In a renewed fury, the enemy crowd charged, seeking blood. The king drew his blade, preparing to die, when a flurry of elements blew away the charging troops. His vassals stood aside him, readying bow, sword, spear and axe. And so, the 6 Terrans charged fearlessly through the crowd, taking down many. The fighting lasted for almost an hour with no casulties, the pure might of these enough to hold off the rebellious masses. Those that once believed Siorius a worthless waste of a king now stood in fear and awe of his might, like the gods had blessed him. And that is when the true might of the giant army came down upon the 6. The enemy's champion, a Terran said to be the deadliest Terramorphus wielder of all time, came from behind the ranks and challenged the 6 to a fight to the finish. His name was Neoprene. They accepted, and found themselves with a massive disadvantage. Kira, the lovely but vicious archer who once led the Royal Archers, was killed instantly. Her lover, Gavan, drew his longsword and attacked the man relentlessly, but after 26 separate blows, his body gave out and he died. The rest of the vassals, Eyera the mindless axe user, Brenethor the aged but deadly strategist, and Combria the spear-skilled youth, sought this legends blood, but came short. They died with honor. Siorius wept quietly, his closest friends and servants dead before him. He fell to his knees, giving up all hope. Suddenly, he heard the soft whisper of an ancient spirit, uplifting him and telling him his destiny. It is said Siorius often spoke of a spirit that spoke to him, and this must have been it. Her voice must have been magic to him, for he rose, his eyes red with tears, but with a passion incomprehensible. Her crimson aura wrapped about him as he lifted his hand and summoned forth the power of the Phoenix, the avatar of Fire Totems. Fire appeared all about him, for he called upon every inch he had within him. Colossal wings of fire appeared behind him, and his right hand and the ground about him began to burn. His eyes glew red as he was said to dash forth, his hand slamming into the murderer of his vassals. The Wings of the Phoenix burned the other troops to a crisp as he flew past them, his eyes intently locked on the pained Neoprene locked in his fiery right hand. Bursting through the wall and launching thousands of feet into the air with the giant wings of flames, Siorius enclosed the wings and released all the inner fire of his body, killing Neoprene in a death befitting him. The wings faded. The fire fizzed away. And Siorius fell. He thought of his child. His son, who would grow to be named King Apollo. And then, he surrendered his body to the gods. He fell and died, a nobler death naught had by any. To this day, no one has been able to use the Cry of the Phoenix, the phenomenon Siorius had used to defeat Neoprene. So, this once disgraced king is revered as the ultimate warrior, hero, martyr, and father, and an idol to all Terran people. Especially to Ken, who was told at a young age he would never be able to conjure flames, let alone call upon the Phoenix. This had broken his heart as a child, but now, walking down the dirt road, Ken knew one day the prison of words he had been placed in as a child would be shattered. He would wield flames. And supposedly, one who resided in Ha Even could teach him. Suddenly, Xanath noticed something odd. A wagon, worn and destroyed, lie on the side of the road. The group stopped, the eerily enrapturing sight before them suspicious. Ken Xanath slowly stepped forward, clenching his spear. He was ready for a trap. He moved slowly to the carriage, where he gasped and dropped his spear, reaching in. Ken grew worried and then very, very worried when Xanath drew out a worn, starving man from inside, missing an arm all together. He seemed sickly and half-dead. Xanath placed him in the road and shook him. "Sir, awaken!" (Last edited by Cairoi on 04-11-07 01:50 AM) |

Alexis was shocked to see anyone else out here, especially this far out in the wastelands.
"Holy shit, he looks like he's in bad shape! Bria; can you use your water powers to heal him, or something?" Bria looked around dejectedly, and shook her head. "There's no water as far as the eye can see; I can't do anything about it." Alexis didn't like this too much, seeing another lost soul out here, parched and badly injured. With a decisive action, she reached for her canteen, and rushed over to him. Slowly, her careless side was fading, and it became apparent that she was starting to care more about others, and she was sure everyone else had noticed, too. She lifted the man's mouth open, and poured some water on his face. "Hang in there, pal, you'll be alright." |

"Starving, missing an arm, and extremely sick," Alarath said. "Don't give him too much water he's probably dehydrated." He looked at Xanath, "and stop shaking him, he needs to regain consciousness on his own terms." He stared Xanath in the eye, "And don't try and kill me for my disrespect, I think I know just a bit more about this than you."
He kneeled on the ground and examined the man. "I don't know if his should is infected, but if not, and assuming I have the proper supplies, I might be able to help him." He looked at Xanath again, "do you have any sort of medical supplies nearby?" |

"I have a few herbs that my people use for various purposes, and some smaller knives. I know that they are not much, but if they can be of use you are welcome to them."
*Avendia crouched down next to Alarath, her white-blonde hair slightly disarrayed after the fighting. Her expression was concerned though, as she looked at the man on the ground* "Why do people try to cross this alone? Even the Animus do not try, and we like the heat." |

Vincent looked upon this man. He knew him from somewhere, but he could not place it. Nevertheless he was in trouble, and needed to be helped. He glanced at Alarath.
"Does this man look to be in possession of medical goods? He seems as detached from technology as possible. This type of wound, however, would appear to be fine. There is no blood around his arm, and it seems like he's lived with this for quite some time." Vincent shook his head. "Avendia, people do not choose to cross this alone. They are like us, astray from the law, and on the run. Most who enter here, enter solely as a means of escape, as it is well known that Law-Enforcers do not like to enter this place. And most forms of them will chase their targets to the border and let the Badlands do the rest." Xanath nodded. "I do not have medical supplies, and even if I did, they would have been lost in the sandstorm. But I agree with the tall one, he does appear to have had this wound for some time." |

"Better to die in battle than to die in a place like this."
*Avendia reached into one of her belt pouches and pulled out what looked to be thick spiney pieces of grass wrapped in an oiled cloth. The plant seemed to be oozing a sticky clear substance. She handed a few pieces to Alarath* "Since you lack the supplies of your trade, use these. When we find people like this in our desert it helps bring them awake sooner... more nurishing than water. Just get the juice down his throat and when he starts to come around have him chew on it to get the last bits out; but don't swallow." |

Ken stood in the back of the group, grabbing the bite wound he had been inflicted with earlier. This man...He recognized him. This is not good, not good, not good. Ken dashed over and lifted up the man with one arm.
With a strong punch, Ken sent the body of the frail man flying. Xanath ran up and restrained Ken, who was struggling to get free. "That's Leech! Everyone, back away!!!!" Suddenly, the frail man slowly rose, but it seemed as though he didn't move a muscle. His head slowly lifted, and dull, red eyes stared at him. "Damn, you remembered me. No matter. You've no magic to wield here." Ken gasped, realizing he was right. He tried to use his electricity, and it would not come to him. He suddenly remembered why the Badlands were so dangerous. The Kamu used an anti-magic field in their territory. It was active once they had passed through the barrier. Xanath released him, drawing his spear. "You know this man?! How does he stand?!" And at that second, Xanath learned. Incredibly long, bent legs like those of an insect ripped out of Leech's back, and he rose a few feet into the air, supported by these strange legs. Tentacles could be seen wriggling about the legs behind him. His body began to shake and from where his right arm once was, a giant parasite leapt forth, hissing and baring its fangs. "Leech is a member of Red Eye who carries an incredibly rare, advanced, and powerful parasite that co-runs his body. We're in for it." Ken reached down and pulled up his pants legs, revealing two sheathed curved daggers. He retrieved them and took a stance. "Do not let the acid hit you! Keep your distance if you can't psychically fight!" Leech's parasitic arm pointed at him and released a blast of acid. Even without his electric enhancing him, Ken was an incredibly agile person. He jumped above it and came down at Leech, swinging at his arm. The parasite's skin was rock hard, and his dagger bounced off the skin. He did a backflip and looked over at the others. "If we're going to survive, we need a strategy! Everyone, keep your distance for now!" Leech began firing a barrage of acid at Ken, who was his primary target for now. Ken dashed to the side, dodging the blasts and hearing them burn into the desert ground. (Last edited by Cairoi on 04-14-07 03:00 AM) |

Alarath backed away, and looked at Avendia. "Do you have anything poisonous?" he asked. "Or anything that will knock someone unconscious?" They had water, and they had a cloth. All he would need was a few second in order to succeed, assuming she had it.
Alarath thought some more. The pillar marking the edge of the territory was in sight. If they passed it, perhpas they could use magic. He looked at Xanath. "Perhaps we shuld try to draw that creature towards the edge of the magic shield, if I heat up some snad and throw it at the creature, the antimagic field will hopefully not cool it down." He hoped one of those two strategies work. If they didn't, maybe someone carried a container of bug repellent. |

Bria stammered, and backed away. She was frail outside of her magic, and with no means to fight, she simply stayed in the back of the group, out of harms way.
Reika stammered as she watched in horror at the mutating human, then looked over at Alexis, the sweat was dripping off her as she readied her knife. Reika couldn't stop staring. Finally, she realized that in such an injured, weakened state, she could do nothing, and finally acted on impulse. "Alexis! Catch!" Alexis looked over, and immediately sheathed her knife, as she caught two .45 handguns, and looked over at Reika with a shocked look. "Hehe; I woulda given them to you earlier, but I just found my extra clips now! Take that freak out!" Alexis blushed, smiled, and nodded. She looked over to Ken, releasing the safety on the guns. "Where's this thing's weak spot!?" |

"Weak spot, unknown." Vincent sounded robotic. "Red-Eye of his ranking are usually trained to have no weak spot." Vincent was quoting something from his research. Before blowing up the intelligence center, Vincent stole quite a bit of information and uploaded it to his Instinct Drive. He only knew code names, pictures were rarely used in Red-Eye. Information on those names came from their records, but the information became more and more vague as the ranks of the members went up. "Watch out!"
Vincent leapt away from a scatter shot of acid. He drew out a wand from his pocket, and twisted the bottom, causing the wand to increase in size and become a large umbrella. Magic, this was not. The umbrella was made of a thin microfiber material, with metallic poles supporting it. The microfiber was waterproof, as well as acid proof. It was normally used for the clothing that scientists working with corrosive chemicals, Vincent took some and modified it into a contraption, just in case he needed to fight a group of those scientists. It seemed pretty useful right now. He moved quickly and climbed up the back of the creature. Wrapping an arm around Leech's neck, he drew three explosives and planted them on various parts of leech, one on the back of his head, one on the shoulder which housed his parasitic arm, and another in the middle of his back. He dropped down and rolled backwards, bracing himself under the umbrella. He flipped a switch and the explosives activated, hopefully tearing apart the abomination. But from what was seen from Ken's dagger, hopefully didn't sound probable. |

The explosions tore through Leech's skin and muscle, but the parasite survived. It hissed and backed up, Leech's organs hanging loose. Suddenly, the corrosive liquid the beast had been launching began to flow about the body, and it regenerated the lost damage of the body. Leech's face seemed slightly disfigured, but other than that, his body had been essentially fixed.
Ken analyzed the situation and formulated a plan. "Alright, I think I have a plan! Alexis, shoot as many bullets as you can into Leech's body, it seems the parasite stops attacking when regenerating the body! Vincent, seize the opportunity and lace Leech's entire torso with explosives! Avendia, Alarath, cover them!" Ken began calculating his next move. These next few seconds would determine the battle. Ken threw one of his knifes towards Alarath. "Alarath, use this when the time comes!" (Last edited by Cairoi on 04-16-07 07:45 PM) |

Alexis nodded, and as soon as Leech stood on his feet, she fired the guns that Reika had given her. The bullets screamed into the viscera of the mutant. Her accuracy was good. Bria was aware of this too, and grew suspicious.
*omg flashback* "Actually, I've never fired a gun before in my life. I hate killing." Bria was a little shocked. Sitting around the fire after Bo'tk's meal, Bria wiped her face to make sure it was clean. "Must have been rough, I bet," she answered, looking at the ground. Bria scowled. "I knew she wasn't telling the whole truth. I bet there's more about her that we all don't know yet!" she said to herself as she watched the fight. The bullets Alexis fired hit the creature in such a way that it made a perimeter around its torso, damaging its healed areas, making it split horizontally, and fall over on its back, the spinal cord was all that kept in in place. But, as long as that thing shared a neurological connection with the rest of its body, it would always regenerate it seemed. Just as Alexis was to fire the bullet that would penetrate the spine and possibly stop it, the guns just want "click". They were both out of ammo. Now was Vincent's chance... |

Alarath caught the knife Ken threw at him, and held it by the handle. He was a doctor, so he was familiar with how to use knives. When Alexis fired, he held his knife, and looked towards Avendia, "we need to run around it, confusing it. Try throwing sand towards its eyes."
He ran in a circle, towards the creatures back. tentacles were sticking out, and he had a knife. Still running, he stuck it out, holding it as an extwension of his arm, and struck the tentacle. It wouldn't do any damage, and it wasn't supposed to, but it would distract the creature as Vincent charged in. He wondered about Ken's strategy. If he were a super alien symbiote, would he sit back and let explosives be planted on his chest? |

With a great leap, Vincent made it to the healing torso of Leech, and dispensed many explosives into the open wounds. Knowing the acid would melt through the explosives in seconds, he needed to get out of there, fast. Kicking off the back of the beast and firing a shot from his cane at it's head, hoping to distract the healing powers for a moment, Vincent triggered the explosives tearing huge chunks away from the beast and leaving a large amount of smoke to cover up the damage done. they would not know how well their plan had worked until that smoke cleared. All Vincent knew was that there was a lot of acid raining down, and his umbrella stopped the majority from coming close to him. | |||

When the smoke cleared, most of Leech's human body was gone. His torso was burned and in peaces, and there was a strange pod encasing Leech's heart and lungs. It had a gaping hole in it's back and front, however.
Ken knew his plan had hit full circle. "Alarath, go from behind!" Ken dashed forward, pulling his knife back behind him and leaping into the air. The regeneration was about to begin on the pod, and Ken wasn't going to let that happen. The parasitic arm noticed Ken coming and lashed out, and Ken locked it's mouth shut with his dagger, pushing with all the might he could. "QUICK! BEFORE IT BREAKS FREE! ALARATH, FINISH IT!" |

Alarath held his knife like a surgeon's tool, and charged in. He went for the heart first, skillfull cutting everything around it with a minimum amount of blood loss, grabbing he heart, and then throwing it behind him. That was does in onl a few seconds.
He then went for the lungs, which he wasn't too familiar with. Sugeons rarely dealt with lungs, and there wasn't much study on how to remove them. As a result, he just plunged his knife around it, creating a loud hiss of air, cut, and yanked them both out like they were peices of meat. He backed away quickly, humans could function at top potential for up to two minutes without their heart functioning, and they didn't actually die due to blood loss until several minutes later. This symbiote would probably still last several minutes after that. He plunged the dagger where the heart had been, just in case it tried to regrow, and backed away. It was going to die, but Alarath saw no reason for his name to be added to the list of casualties. |

Ken was knocked back by the wrath of the parasitic arm, but he landed softly and watched as the beast began to flail mindlessly, severed of it's power. Acid began to devour the human host body, leaving nothing but the tan, giant parasite hissing and slumping slowly to the ground. Leech's voice could be heard from the slumped corpse, a testament to the disfigured and frightening relationship the host and parasite shared.
And it begun with the dry, crackling laughter that chilled the hearts of all the warriors. "No haven is safe for you! No army will protect you! We will raze cities and spill the blood of your protectors until each of you pays the price you have placed upon your souls. So says our master, he who will own the world!" And the body set aflame. Without a host, there was nothing left to protect it. But it had one last goal. In it's blind state, it lashed out at a nearby enemy, seeking to implant eggs into a host and continue, albeit in a different form. With a flow of acid, Xanath was dropped to the ground, the acid burning through his armor. But thankfully, to the armor's avail, it protected him long enough to prevent any eggs being implanted upon him. With a flash of fire, the parasitic arm shriveled and turned to ash, mixing in with the sandy ground. The group breathed their final sigh of relief, and Ken sat down, attempting to catch his breath. "Great job, team." |

Xanath fell to the ground, his armor melting away. Shocked and appalled by the creatures attempt to survive. He realized his plight. He was almost too shocked to move. His silver eyes widened and stared into the sky, hoping no one noticed him, but it may have been too late. It was. Vincent happened to look over at him at that moment, the moment where the entirety of the armor had melted away from his chest, revealing a bluish-gray carapace. Distinctive of a Kamu warrior, the bluish-gray carapace was a sign that this man they met, was a spy. He had infiltrated them from early on led them along, taking them into a Kamu trap most likely. This was not good, the trap could be anywhere. Vincent knelt by Xanath, his face showing great sadness. If Xanath was even his real name. Vincent's cape blocked most of Xanath from view.
"You will need to run now. I cannot protect you for long." Vincent was honest and fair, he would rather let this man go, seeing kindness, than strike him down where he lay. He was shielding this man because he feared Ken's reaction. |
