I now have a study hall instead of fourth period spanish class so I have a lot of time that I can spend on the computer. We have a program, iPrism, that blocks just about every single interesting site includeing this one but I managed to find a like to it that is not blocked. Therefore i can now post semi-regularly. However the only browser available to me is IE and I am used to Mozilla since it has a spell check. I did a google search on spell checkers for IE but I cannot download them thanks to iPrism. Does anybody know anything about iPrism or how to get around it. Or possably a way to get the program onto the computer. I have thought about putting it on a CD at my hose and loading it onto the computer from there but I'm not sure if it will work. Any help will be appreciated. I would like to make as few spelling errors as possible. Thanks. Oh yea I also tried to download firefox. No good.

Well, we (Me, Spartan, Shaddow, XMtS) have Bess, and we can get through most sites by just getting the IP through the command prompt, although some IPs are banned.

Three easy (if not possibly expensive) steps to (maybe) eliminate your problem:
1) Get a laptop with wireless and wired connections. 2) Gank the internet cable from the computer you were using and connect it to your laptop. (if a teacher asks what you are doing, say your working on your homework on your laptop and that you need to have the internet to email it to yourself or for research or whatever. Be creative. The more technical you are, the more likely you are to intimidate the teacher into submission) 3) Enjoy the Internets. (if this fails, go on a ranting tirade verbally defiling the school district, the IT department and the schools computers. For bonus points, add in some stuff about The Man keeping you down and how the school is becoming a socialist/communist regime bent on controlling your every action and thought) If you don't want to go that way, try putting FF and the programs you want to run on your iPod or other portable hard drive. Install at home and run at school. Not all programs will work this way. You can also try booting to a portable HDD and running Linux or Windows from there. If you don't know how to do any of that, look it up on Google and/or Digg. |

Never mind. One of the more naive teachers at my school unknowingly signed me onto a user name with very limited restrictions. I am currently on now and I immediately took advantage of the situation and downloaded ieSpell as well as Firefox. However the program on the computer itself prevents me from running Firefox. I don't really mind that much although I liked the constant check that spell check did instead of me having to check the spelling constantly like with ieSpell. ieSpell is basically like works and Mozilla is like Microsoft word as far as spell check goes.

Not to mention that the risks of evading their system just about spells expulsion in many schools.

Yea I thought about the reprucussions of hacking into the system and messing with stuff. I don't think that they will expell me if they found me out since I could just play innocent. I would just get a lot of wierd looks from the librarian every time I got onto the internet. Last year I almost got banned from the library because my teacher suspected me of knowing the internet password. I denied it even though I did know. I just avoided the library for a while and since the librarian is very old, 90 or so, she promptly forgot what I did. |
