To answer your question, Xeo, the United Kingdom voted to leave the European Union. The EU is made up of 28 (now 27) European countries making it such that they are united politically and economically (hence most of them using the Euro.) This federation makes it easier for citizens of those countries within the EU to travel within that union (you don't have to go through an insane amount of customs, etc), immigrate from one to another, work, trade, etc. Think of it like U.S. states. Say you want to move from Kansas to New York. You don't have to go through the struggle of customs, applying for citizenship and the weight of proving that you deserve a job and that your depriving employment of a hypothetical New Yorker is justified in you being an essential worker (something I've watched friends go through when moving to Germany), on and on and on. You don't have to show a passport when traveling between states and territories, you don't have to pay tariffs for something you bought online that's coming from another state, and you vote on the federal level (much like EU citizens do, alongside voting for things within their own countries.) Furthermore, by unifying, it made them economically stronger overall, increased human rights legislation, and caused them to not butt heads and compete against each other over many of the issues they did in the past. Countries not in the EU, like Norway, Iceland, and Liechtenstein, still reap benefits from working relationships with the union by paying for them, falling under the European Economic Area. The UK doesn't have the same amount of financial backing as those three. Switzerland -- also not an EU member -- remains fiercely independent and neutral, but still allows for free travel under the Schengen Agreement. The UK still demands people show passports, however. Anyway, the main reason people give for the "Brexit" is the UK wanting to stem the flow of immigrants. Any EU citizen can choose to move or retire to any country within the EU that they want and I'm sure you've heard about the refugee crisis that's going on. Millions are fleeing Syria, Iraq, and North Africa, risking life and limb (hiring smugglers who more often than not abandon them to the elements to go scam more refugees), to make it to EU countries like Germany, who's welcoming them with open arms. At the same time, those demanding the Brexit were saying the UK should return to its own sovereignty like the good old days ("Make England great again!") and that Brussels, Belgium (where the EU is headquartered) is too overpowering. Consequences of the Brexit: the UK's goods account for almost half of the exports in Europe. Choosing to leave will likely dry up that trade. Went and saw "Warcraft" over the weekend. Wow ... it was baaaaaaaad.

The CG looked cool, but everything else? Even practical set pieces looked bad. Maybe many years ago before we had high definition it would have flown just fine, but it really took me out of it. They're showing all these really well-made orc characters and then the live actress/half-orc woman is dragged through the scene and doesn't match up with anything. It really took me out of it all. I mean, Bob Hoskins interacting with the cartoon characters in "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?" is much more seamless by comparison. The story was OK most of the time, but it crumbled and just staggered to the end. It's difficult to pin-point where the climax is supposed to be. After what you thought was supposed to be the end of the movie, it kept going, worse so than "Return of the King." I just... wow. Terrible.

The UK is out after two years, so we'll see if the two do leave. Nicola Sturgeon's saying they'll explore all their options, but she and most other Scots are disgusted that they are being dragged through the Brexit, saying they're being used as bargaining chips.

Spoiler: So R+L=J is true. And Arya's a murderer. I guess I was the only one clapping like a goon since everyone else is taking the higher road and complaining that she's cold-blooded and evil. Chaotic good for the win! And Cersei's the Mad Queen. Sort of nice how they sandwiched a lot of things. Episode 1 had Bran Stark pushed out a window, this episode had Jamie and Cersei's last child jumping out of one. Seriously, though, where is Cersei going to even get money to run the kingdom? The Lannisters are effectively broke (nothing's come out of their mines in years), the throne owns so much to the Iron Bank of Braavos, and she just murdered the Tyrells (Master of Coin, Queen, etc) and Dorne will have nothing to do with her. Hell, she also just murdered her uncle, Kevan, Tommen's Hand. It's also funny to think of all the houses that are (almost) entirely killed off. I mean, are there any true-born Martells any more?

Was walking around the Huntington Library members night last night and at least a quarter of the people were playing "Pokemon Go," including Lee. Apparently there are tons of portals, lures, and gyms throughout the gardens. All that beauty and so many people are looking at their phones.

Apparently there's a lure in the center of the Chinese Garden's lake, so there were loads of people with their phones standing along the shores. In the mean time, no one else seemed to notice the six hummingbirds over the lake doing all sorts of tricks and flying really close to our heads.

This all just makes me think of the excuse that game developers use about women being harder to animate, so they don't use them as main characters as often. I mean, we're able to have T&A games like this with all the jiggling details...

I'm transferring over to another center within the company. This one's about a mile and a half from home and has me working more hours (yet still less time than I was spending in commute to Lomita and milling around, waiting for my carpool buddy to get out of work) and I get a 30 minute lunch to myself.

Thing is I was told today that I start at the other center on Monday. I'm not ready to leave all these clients to whom I've grown very attached.

Last day at my center yesterday. It was Hawaiian Day at work, so I went all out. I had bought leis for my cooking club clients and Kona coffee for the staff. Cut up some of the plumeria in the front yard and filled some of the tiki mugs from my collection with it. Some of my co-workers put the extra flowers in their hair. Brought a couple of my Hawaiian shirts and changed between them from time to time. We made spam musubi. It was all glorious.

In the afternoon, on the way from the from the laundromat with my laundry club, we watched a really crazy car accident while waiting to cross the street. Once we got across, I went up to the old woman in the car that caused all of it. She was bleeding, her arm was completely torn open (muscle and tendons exposed) and her face was bleeding. I talked to her and asked if she had had a medical emergency or anything and she was completely disoriented. I ran back to my DSP and got some of the towels we'd just laundered to apply pressure. At that same time an off-duty cop pulled up and started asking her questions. He told me he didn't have gloves; I happen to always carry a baggie of rubber gloves when I'm working, so I pulled them out and handed him a couple and gloved up myself. I yelled to my DSP to take our clients back to the center while I tried to help where I could by pretty much just being there with stuff. Eventually an ambulance showed up that we were able to flag down (it wasn't one that was called, just happened to be driving by) and so I just headed back to the center. My boss was walking toward the accident to meet with me. I assumed I was in trouble, but she just wanted to make sure I was OK. One of my co-workers bought me a cake and I said goodbye to most of the clients before I went out to do drop-offs. Got back to the center and most of the people were gone. I had something of a breakdown once I got home. I cried for a bit, getting terribly choked up about leaving. Anyway, I got depressed enough that Bran and I went to Downtown Disney to go drown my sorrows in rum.

My Facebook is completely covered in people complaining about people complaining about Pokemon Go. (I actually have yet to see anyone post complaining about all the people playing it to begin with. I'm sure it exists, but I'm not personally seeing it.)
