We're talking Idaho potatoes, Nebraskan corn, anything and everything that's not exempted. But exempted are the deceptively named organic foods. I say deceptive because while there are several rules in place in order to be considered organic, most farmers exploit the loopholes. For example, they can't use pesticides like regular farmers, BUT that doesn't stop them from using much harsher chemicals. | Yeah, I've got leftover Chinese food and seafood fettuccine and half a pattymelt from a week ago to work through.
On top of that there's all this cheese that Stitch and I bought in Palo Alto that I'm slowly starting to break into while he's away. Still leaving enough for him when he gets back. |

The Hostess snack cake corporation is liquidating its assets in light of the bakers union that works for them being on strike. THIS IS ALL OVER FACEBOOK, YELP, AND JUST ABOUT EVERY OTHER PLACE I CAN SEE PEOPLE POSTING WITH JUNK FOOD FANS LAMENTING OVER TWINKIES AND SHIT. In the mean time Israel has invaded the Gaza Strip. | HORRIFYING.
I never got to visit the Gaza Strip (not that I would REALLY have wanted to, especially since I was supposed to be in Ashdod the day they happened to be rocket-bombing it), but I've been to the West Bank and I've been exposed to Israeli bitterness when it's come to the Palestinians and vice versa. I really just wish this could all be sorted out without the bloodshed.  |

| Apparently Hostess and the bakers cut a deal. Sucks to be those people who paid $400 for a few boxes of Ho-Hos.
Anyway, Stitch and I watched a protest in downtown L.A. yesterday where a bunch of Muslims had Broadway closed down to pray in the middle of the street and had a blood donation area set up. A cease fire is being discussed with Egypt, Qatar, and Turkey stepping in to try to get this all to stop. |

| As cynical as I get about this holiday's origin, my resolve has softened as I've come to embrace this time with family and friends.
I wish you all a happy holiday. Things are.. well, interesting.. at my house right now. My mom tried to exorcise a demon from my grandmother and the 80-year-old Japanese internee caught a fly in midair, squashed it in her fist, and handed it to me. Been obsessively watching Boardwalk Empire, Walking Dead, Downton Abbey, Sons of Anarchy, RuPaul's Drag Race: All Stars, The Big Bang Theory, and Doctor Who. Most of their seasons are ending this week or next, but then Brandon and I have got Game of Thrones, Mad Men, Eastbound and Down, Avatar: Legend of Korra, Metalocalypse, and the rest of Doctor Who's season to look forward to. |

| I've seen the Kennedy assassination footage, and the Zapruder video is freaking brutal. What makes me wonder is why Jackie climbed up on the truck to retrieve all his brain matter that sprayed all over it. Did she expect a doctor would piece it back together?
Yay, smugness. I ended up just watching this thing on Jonestown on the History Channel. It's over-dramatized as hell, but it showed more images and footage than I'd seen online. |

| Seriously, the most I'd ever done for a fandom was thinking about getting "the symbol" from Heroes on my right shoulder blade (didn't do it).
The idea of shaving your head in support of a cancer sufferer is noble when it's a friend or family member, but for a celebrity who doesn't know you or care that you did something like this for them -- ESPECIALLY when you didn't check your facts -- it just comes off... well, pathetic. |

Yeah, I'm weird. 
Ended up going to the L.A. County Sheriff's Museum and watching the death tape that showed actor Vic Morrow and these two Asian kids killed in a helicopter accident while filming this Twilight Zone movie. On Sunday, my mom wanted to see the Madeline Albright pin exhibit, which was cool in parts. Apparently former Secretary of State Albright used to communicate messages and moods with her brooches. There were all these pins on display with pictures of her wearing them with people like Kim Jong Il, Nelson Mandela, and Yasser Arafat. I ended up leaving and sitting in the hall to draw once I got through the more historic ones and the rest of the display cases were just, "Here's a bunch of pins that she has that are shaped like fruit. Here's a bunch that are shaped like birds," etc and so forth. |
