Using Adobe In-Design for the first time since last summer. It almost feels foreign. | |||

That sounds damn tasty!
Just shared a box of Samoa Girl Scout cookies with Brandon, after having a microwaved Costco chicken bake. *Sigh* |

Originally posted by Sorcha Rohan Worse yet, that she'd performed at Stonewall and didn't know shit about it. These days it's so easy to go to a gay pride festival, get drunk, and make out with the person nearest you and completely forget that there are a lot of people you owe a debt of gratitude to for fighting for your right to do that. I mean, when I went to San Francisco's Pride last year, even the homeless were smiling and shouting, "Happy pride!" at all the flamboyant guys holding hands and prancing around in tutus and sailor hats. We've come a long way. Also, I'm loving the fuck out of this guy. He's been putting out original pieces weekly for each episode: http://www.chadsellcomics.com/rupauls-drag-race/ (Last edited by Rogue on 03-14-12 05:20 PM) |

Obsessively re-watching season 1 and realizing how many details were stuffed in there that I'm only catching now.
Amusingly, not two days after The Oatmeal posted that comic about how we all end up pirating Game of Thrones due to high prices and unavailability, the BluRay set dropped from $80 to $35 on Amazon. If only I had a BluRay player. |

This morning, without much notification, Lola was placed in a nursing home in Bellflower. I wasn't told until 30 minutes before we were standing in front of the place.
It's a bit wistful around the house right now, but at the same time we're all a bit relieved. I'm not exactly sure what I'm feeling, more than I almost wish she was still here. The home she was placed in is actually more like a house. It doesn't look like a hospital at all. Like you could easily mistake it for being a grandmother's home. I'm glad she was put there instead a place that was anything like the convalescent home I worked at. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-11-12 08:57 PM) |

Originally posted by X Heh, I'm on PS CS5 (which would be equivalent to 12.0). But then again, I've been using pirated software for a while now. In-Design is sort of an old friend that I don't get excited to see very often, because it always means work. Photoshop can be tedious since I end up mass-editing pictures, but it's fun messing around with it sometimes. |

Watching the new episode of Walking Dead right now.
Lately, I've had something on every night of the week (except Friday and Saturday) that I'm watching. Sunday - Walking Dead. Depending if I'm up to it, also The Simpsons or Family Guy. When they're in season, I'll also watch Boardwalk Empire, Mad Men, and Game of Thrones on Sunday nights. Monday - RuPaul's Drag Race on LOGO, plus Drag Race: Untucked. Tuesday - I was watching Ink Master on Spike, but that's ended. Might end up going back to Storage Wars. Wednesday - Face Off on SyFy. Thursday - Big Bang Theory. I'm not stuck here watching TV night after night. I'll stream all these if something good's going on. Since I'm not watching my grandmother any more, I just might leave the house again. ![]() (Last edited by Rogue on 03-12-12 01:17 AM) |

Yeah, I feel confident these people will take good care of her. When we walked in, the place smelled like beef and broccoli stir-fry cooking, and all of the old folks were either watching the big flat screen TV or sleeping.
We brought her some pictures last night to hang in her half of the room. Her roommate is apparently a heavy sleeper, in fact she was asleep the entire time we were in her room, getting her settled. And since she doesn't live with me any more, this thread can be closed. After two years... here's a tiny bit of closure. |

Outside of my parents, fuck my family (for the most part).
Holy shit. The WTF-ery has climbed to an all-new high. I'm just glad I'm an only child, because the bullshit that's going down between my mom's siblings is hazardous to the planet. |

So I completely re-watched the show, making sure I heard, re-heard, and fully comprehended every line uttered and by what character (because before I was like, "Who's that guy? Oh well, I'll figure it out later").
Man, there's just so much detail, but it feels rewarding having done that. This time around I hated Joffrey more, actually kind of hated Cersei and Jamie less (they have these human moments when you can sort of feel for them. Sort of...), facepalmed through most of the Daenerys scenes near the end of the season, and am just so much more captivated by Robb and Theon. I didn't realize how much they talked about the Greyjoys, how vicious they fight, pride in having faced them, and then how bloodlustful Theon is. I guess, since I thought he was a Stark the first time I went through the show, I just never thought to think of him when Jory and Jamie are talking about him (Jamie said something like, "I saw that youngest Greyjoy boy up at Winterfell." Jory: "Yeah, Theon. He's a good lad." Jamie: "I doubt it." Then suddenly Jamie didn't want to talk any more). I still love Arya above all else, along with Tyrion, Ned, and Robb (who has completely entered my top favorites list). Really looking forward to this next season starting in a couple weeks. |

Jiggly needed to be gone weeks ago.
Dida's probably next. I hope. She's never wowed me, and she's now the only racer who hasn't won any competitions whatsoever. I'm fully behind Chad and Sharon. They both have two wins apiece, while Willam, Phi Phi, and Latrice have one each. If I had any complaints on the show it would be that runway is such an afterthought. It hasn't had a theme in a long time. |

Heh, I know exactly what you're talking about. My boyfriend's 17-year-old sister just had a kid, and of course, she's having an ongoing drama with the father.
On top of that, there's three other pregnant "women" in my life at the moment -- none of them are married (well, one of them just got married. Her pregnancy, however, was an obvious attempt to hook the guy into marriage) or ready for the responsibility. You're right. It's not your problem. Just smile and try your best to avoid the inevitable shitstorm that's coming. |

Originally posted by Sorcha Rohan I'm just as clueless. The forum for the show on IMDb is on fire with speculation. Most people think it was drugs, hormones, that he was calling home, or that he got an acting gig that would have interfered. Drugs is still in contention, especially since he Tweets that he does Adderall (though that could easily be a joke). Since his "beard" was showing up a lot, people are disagreeing with the hormone theory. According to some of the people arguing this, a few seasons back Sonique, who was planning to go trans, had to refrain from taking hormones while in the competition as it was considered an unfair advantage. Still, I don't think this would have been it. I'm thinking it was the phone calls. When you do a reality TV competition show, you're supposed to be in seclusion. No calls home, no Internet, no TV, nothing. It's part of why people compete so hard on dating shows like Flavor of Love and The Bachelor. The contestants are so bored they're fighting for the chance to get out of the house. The seclusion also gets people to cry more about missing their families and get easily stressed out on camera since they're going without the comfort of their loved ones. Not to mention it prevents you from spilling confidential info. At the same time, this would mean you're not allowed to be working on any other projects. Supposedly Willam has a husband and it's possible he was phoning him. Similarly, since the show is filmed in L.A., and Willam is based here, he could be going out, partying, auditioning, and so on while all the other racers don't have that luxury. When Sharon Needles was on this Chicago radio show she mentioned people breaking those rules, especially after they've taken away your cell phone and Internet access. Around the 34:00 mark on the file here, she says that: http://feastoffun.com/podcast/2012/03/08/fofa-1529-hitting-the-mainline-with-sharon-needles-03-09-12/ My boyfriend's theory is that Willam was not only contacting people on the outside, but that he was having someone buying him more clothes and shoes and having them sent to him -- especially since Phi Phi just kept going on about using someone else's credit card and so on. It wouldn't be fair if Willm's getting access to more materials since there's only so much the rest could bring in their suitcases from their homes around the country. So there... I don't know, but it's probably somewhere between drugs and phone calls home. EDIT: Amusingly this video that Willam did to supposedly raise awareness of Chick-Fil-A's anti-gay politics was put up yesterday. (Last edited by Rogue on 03-20-12 04:05 AM) |

Originally posted by Elara Bingo! You know the story, right? She got pregnant after saying that she supposedly couldn't, they lost the baby, then she told him it would take a few months before she could possibly get pregnant again so they still wouldn't need to use protection and then she was knocked up two months later. Her pregnancy was also why Chef had to leave the band and move up to Sacramento to live with HER parents -- she stopped working when she got pregnant and then he lost his job and couldn't afford to pay for the apartment any more. Anyway... Originally posted by Elara Yeah, that's a story that's told far too often (I have five friends with kids that have uninvolved dads -- in Christina's case, the dad's involved, but he's rather shitty at it. Playing computer games while Jayne cuts her hair with his scissors [even putting her hair IN HIS LAP while she's telling him about it and he kept ignoring her!!!]. And then he went and bought her her own scissors so she wouldn't use his any more? WTF!! ![]() I mean, chances are he'll make a show of trying to be a father some time during the pregnancy and then right after the birth, but his attention will fizzle and sense of responsibility will fade and he'll go a-wandering again.
