| According to my dad, the fracture isn't swollen or showing the same signs as a fresh fracture. No one knows how she got it. Either way, she'd never mentioned her neck hurting before, and it was the thing she kept complaining about just before I took her to the ER.

| They had a neck brace on her, but apparently the physical therapists think she's good enough to do without it. I swear, though, she was CONSTANTLY complaining about her neck and whenever nurses or technicians tried to move her she cried in pain all of Friday from my aunt's to when she was out cold in the ER.
Exasperatingly enough, my dad (who HATES my aunt) is seemingly defending her on this one. Like he keeps saying the fracture could have been from years ago when she fell in her house. My uncle came by today to talk with my mom about a home they're getting ready to put Lola into. It sounds promising. |

| I'm watching them right now.
My god, how anti-climactic. None of the movies I was into last year got much attention. There's nothing that I'm really in awe of that's winning. Pretty much I haven't been so apathetic, and that's saying something since there's usually at least one thing I really like that's been thrown up there, but there's NOTHING this year. 
Thoughts? Anyone else watching? I'm still amused that no one's laughing at Billy Crystal's jokes. HAHAHAHA.. whoever did the voiceovers for the clips they're showing of upcoming films they're talking about, they just said "With no clear favorite tonight, anyone could win!" You said it, random voice. |

| It's sort of reminding me of last year because a lot of people really didn't care about "The King's Speech," and couldn't believe it won.
Seriously, it's like the only buzz I'm hearing are people bitching about this or that. Good god, the Cirque du Soleil performance... Anyway, I'm kind of annoyed The Conspirator was completely shut out. I feel like The Artist only got so much love because of the sheer irony of it being a silent, black-and-white movie nowadays. |

So this girl in the UK, has eaten 4,000 sponges, and 100 bars of soap, because she has this disorder where things that are not food look appetizing. In other people this disorder causes them to eat metal, wood, chalk, etc. She eats the sponges with condiments (relish, mustard, hot sauce, etc). | I told you all the nitty gritty details in PM.
Anyway, today a social worker came and the nurse returned after that. It's been a pretty full day -- making sure Lola was fed, showered, put in a clean diaper and clothes, groomed, and perfumed, down for a nap, fed again, and looking good for these people coming to see her, then putting her down for another nap while making sure her sore neck was covered with a heating pad. I realized last night, after making sure all of her needs were met, as I was doing the dishes and giving her medication, that I've actually become pretty responsible when it's mattered. Thus far she's backpeddled and now claims SHE'S the one who insisted we take Lola to the hospital to get checked out, and not that I demanded we take her while Beth said to just put an icepack on it. |

| It's creamier, but the taste on its own is really pungent. That's when I pour on the honey!
On their own without honey, fruit, etc, I prefer "regular" yogurt. But with honey, I infinitely love Greek yogurt more than any dessert-flavored Yoplait, Dannon, or whatever. Would you rather have big, moose-like antlers or porcupine quills that are always poking out? |

| Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck EVERYBODY.
My grandmother fell out of bed yesterday morning and broke her wrist. Spent 6 hours in the hospital yesterday (wearing a mask because I'm fucking sick) -- 2 hours just to get fucking seen, and then 4 hours of waiting around for people to come by for 5 minutes here or there. We had to deal with patients and nurses making scenes over every little thing (this guy came in screaming that he needed surgery and was put in immediately before he was ushered out 20 minutes later screaming about them all being assholes who don't give a shit about caring for people and then just stood in the lobby shouting for half an hour. The nurses just kept henpecking each other over their own personal drama while Lola was waiting two hours to be discharged -- all they did was take her blood pressure again after the orthopedic guys did their job and then they took another hour before they said we could go). Anyway, Lola's got a splint, no pain meds, and I had to foot the hospital bill with what little is left in my checking account. Need to take her back in a week for a check-up and a cast. I'm having to wrestle to put Lola (who now suddenly can't stand unassisted) in the car and buckle her in while trying to make sure her chair didn't roll away before having to put that in the trunk. And Brandon's just sitting there with the engine running. At the same time, my parents were off work and didn't bother coming by. They went to go see the fucking LACMA rock and then get dinner. We got home to cold burritos and my parents watching TV. I go put Lola to bed, keeping her arm elevated, and then drink some NyQuil before trying to go to sleep. Today was just bullshit. The nurse came unannounced just as I was going to get her up to eat and she looked dead. Like she's barely functioning today. The nurse helped me undress her, wrap her splint arm with a towel and Saran wrap (since you can't let it get wet), and then I gave her a shower. She's been unable to walk, eat, or go to the bathroom on her own. My dad just keeps leaving the house and won't offer any support more than saying he'll stay home (and not actually watch Lola) while I make a run to the medical supply store to get her a bathing glove for a cast and a patient gown (since none of her clothes are button-up and it's difficult to dress her with that splint), which put together cost $50. The nurse was getting accusatory with me, demanding to know why she hasn't been placed in a home yet (this is my uncle's duty, as the home has been picked out and he's doing all the paperwork and insurance crap). I come off like an uninformed moron. All of yesterday and today Lola's been hallucinating. She keeps trying to pull the splint off and she kept scratching her finger saying that her cookie went into it. Yesterday she said she was holding "parts of Minnie" (her old dog) and kept going on about Beauty being locked in the house (Beauty's a dog she had that was put to sleep 10 years ago). She got mad and me for putting a placemat away because she was saying it was a fish and she thought I was throwing it away. My mom comes home and I'm practically arguing with her over her and my dad's lack of help or support in caring for her mother and Dad, of course, comes out to yell at me. I'm not allowed to be mad. I have to drive Brandon to band practice, sitting in traffic both ways, and get home to find Lola hasn't been fed and Mom went to bed early, despite saying she would feed and medicate her. So I get Lola up, put her in her wheelchair, microwave her a chicken pot pie, butter up a couple slices of bread, and cut up some cantaloupe, grab her teeth, and put these all in front of her. Just when she's about done and I've had to help her with the pot pie and drinking water, Mom finally gets up to take over. Just fuck everything. I really just feel like walking out the door and never coming back. EDIT: Oh, and Mom keeps bitching at me to proofread her bullshit e-mails to church people (like she won't send an e-mail to anyone until I read through them and make them sound "professional") and make a flier for her church group by tomorrow.

| I have a feeling every time I have some sort of a good time, fate decides I need to be dragged back down to Earth.
Since the last post above, which actually involved taking my grandmother to the hospital, she has pretty much fallen apart and I'm the only one taking care of her.
*Sigh* Well, there's a few things to look forward to on the horizon. I was going to go to Arizona this weekend, but the plans fell through because the friend we were going with couldn't get time off (she had it, but then she got scheduled), but Brandon's family is in town so we're probably going to have a get-together. Next weekend, we're going to WonderCon in Anaheim with Stitch, who's graciously giving us his extra professional badges. Hopefully, before then, my uncle will have placed Lola in a home. |
