Hellsing is the most BAD ASS vampire anime ever created I don't care what else
comes out. Seras Victoria, hottest anime girl in history. Very worth the wath. Warning of blood and guts on occasion if that bothers you but it's pretty damned awesome no matter what. (Last edited by Pockets on 10-24-06 02:03 AM) |

Originally posted by AlpoRaggins Out of curiousity, do you have something personal against alcohol? Not attacking or something I'm honestly curious, you seem rather vehement towards that as a bad thing. Personally I've had some bad experiences with booze. Not of my own though. More watching my ex fiance get so shit faced hammered that passed out on my bathroom floor she stopped breathing a time or too. (that might have been her sleep apnia though) Seen people do some really stupid and hurtful stuff, usually to me while hammered out of their minds. On my end I don't think I've done anything dumb while drinking, aside from starting a sparring match with staff's where I ended up slightly wounded. The problem is finding that happy medium of enough drink to get buzzed and silly and have fun with your friends but not enough to get down and miserable and drunkely beligerent which some don't understand. Also a warning to all who may drink in the future. Drinking doesn't change your mood. If your in a good mood when you start drinking you'll be in a GREAT mood after you have been for a while. Inversely, if you're in a bad mood you will be in a much worse mood. Main reason why I NEVER drink when I'm mad. I would get pretty violent I think. |

I came really close to trying a few times. I DO have a lot of scars, though that
doesn't make me emo. (that's a debate for another time though) One line you said has always intrigued me. About not having enough "bravery" to kill yourself. It's not the brave ones that kill themselves. It's the ones that are too weak and too scared. Those are the ones that can't deal with the pain of living. There's a line from a Papa Roach song that say's "... And you gotta be bigger, be faster, be stronger if you're gonna survive any longer." I take that sentiment to heart. You have to be strong to survive. And if you've managed to avoid actually trying to kill yourself than you are strong. 'nuff said. |

Various parent,s gaurdians, and whatnot inform each young person of their
intended destination. The Shards recruitment center/med bay. You are all informed, despite some of you already knowing, that today will be the day of your recruitment and alalysis to see if you are worthy of becoming a Shard. It will not be easy and SOME of you will NOT survive. The recruitment process is very difficult and more than one potential Shard has been lost during the process in the past. It is currently 7:00 am, you are all expected at the center by 8:00 a.m. Be there or face the consequences for insubordination. |

ooc: on a random note I think it's funny that no one has taken into consideration
that on this planet they've had three thousand years of technological advancements on top of the science that let them travel 22.2 light years through space. ic: John, as you step outside you hear your fathers breathing change and the hydro chair he keeps at his desk shifts with his weight. Footsteps echo down the hall and he's soon standing behind you. "John," he say's his voice sounding thick with some emotion you can't identify. "Don't worry about passing or failing. Your mother and I... we just want you to home safe and sound. Be careful out there and... good luck." There is a genuine note of worry and fear in his voice now, but the door closes behind you before you can ask about it and you hear the driver asking if you've brought any luggage with you. Gaius, Derek, Marin and, Keel. There are chimes at the doors to your respective homes, indicating the proximity sensor has picked up an approaching vehicle or person. It's time. |

Donavan, you hear heavy footsteps approaching and a truly massive man walks up
to you on the other side of the gate. After a minute the gate silently slides open just enough for him to step through. About 7 feet even he towers over the petite woman next to him, a walking mountain of muscle that was barely being contained by the too small muscle shirt stretched across his massive chest. As he crosses his arms over said chest Donavan can see several dark rocks that appear to have been embedded into his arms along with fiberoptic cybernetics. An ugly scar ran from his left shoulder down the length of his upper arm to end a scant inch past his elbow, evidence of a hard life of battle. The woman topped out at 5 feet even, slender and exceptionally beautiful. Long red hair hung to her waist and from behind a pair of simple, yet very elegant eye glasses peered a set of startling yellow eyes. Eyes that pierced Donavan with a pentrating gaze. "Morgan, Donavan," she barked, obviously reading from the clipboard she held in her hands. "This is your enlistment day. Have you been informed of the particulars of the enlistment process including risks, benefits, and contract terms of service?" |

The woman scowled, somehow still managing to look beautiful even in anger. She
turned to glare at the massive man next to her. "Why has this recruit not been informed of the particulars?" she roared fit to do any drill sergeant proud. "Unknown ma'am," he said. His voice was, just like the rest of him, massive. Like a giant wave rolling up from his toes, gaining momentum before it burst from his lips, deeper than anyone Donavan had ever heard. "I will look into it." "Good." She turned back to Donavan. "Everything will be explained inside. As soon as the rest of the recruits get here you'll be led in and you'll all be told at once what will happen." She spied Gaius approaching out of the corner of her eye and rounded on him, spinning sharply on the heel of one foot. "Eri, Gaius," she barked again. "Front and center." |

ooc: Everyone's here except for Makura. She doesn't have a lot of computer
access though so we'll try to work around it as much as possible. ic: The woman directed her yellow eyes to each of the recruits standing before her. "Almost everyone is here," she said, her voice floating softly over the group. When she arrrives you will all be informed of all the particulars of becoming a Shard." "In the meantime," she continued, her voice hardening, "you will relinquish any electronic devices that you brought with you. They will all be returned as soon as recruitment has been completed and you have been assigned to your barracks." She turned her eyes onto John. "You may of course keep your listening device, however all other electronic devices including watches, phones, music devices and so forth must be relinquished." |

The lady looks at everyone. "This is all of you?" She consults her clipboard for a
moment before nodding to herself. "Yep, that's everybody." "No electronic devices are allowed," the massive man says, "because there are some areas that you will be passing through that would... not react well to those devices." He glances at John. "Your device will have to be shielded before entering the restricted areas." ooc: By the way, everyone that hasn't indicate their characters LAST name, I must request something, it's needed for some minor story points. Thanks. ic: The lady waits for Keel to catch his breath and then snaps out, "Fall in, Atention!" "You will follow me now, in single file line, and we'll fill you in on the particulars of the recruitment process." She leads the group into the building through several long hallways were various people can be seen scurrying about carrying out one task or another. Stalking through the halls like an angry cat she finally reaches a door which slides open before she reaches it. "Inside!" she barks, gesturing for everyone to enter. After you are all seated she moves around to the front of the table and glares down the lenth of it at you. "Of the six of you here, statistics say that only four of you will live through this process. Personally I don't know why we have to inform you of this since it's not like you have a choice of declining enlistment. You're doing this if we have to knock you out and strap you down." "Bartin," she barked. "Ma'am," the large man snapped to attention and stepped around the to front by her. "Show them," she says. He nods crisply and removes his sleeves jacket, then the undershirt revealing a massively muscled bare torso covered by a slew of various scars and biomechanical enhancements. The rocks stick out of the skin of his forearms are followed by several in his torso and when he turns there are ten stones visible embedded into his back, five on either side of his spinal column. "The enlistment test is this," she says quietly, a smirk tugging at her lips. "These crystals will be surgically implanted throughout your body. If the operation is a success and your nervois system adequately bonds to the new energy source you will start your training as a Shard. If you don't then that means you're dead!" |

"In some ways," she said smoothly. "Everyone goes through a few similar
things. First of all the purpose of the shards isn't entirely to give a person superhuman powers. Not entirely. Everyone experiences heightened strength and reflexes. Nothing too drastic but a defenite increase. The level of strength is still proportionate to the amount of muscle you have." "All the shards do is stimulate your muscles to a point beyond your current physical ability. The shards, along with a few minor cybernetic link ups allows for the use of a few Shard only weapons and systems. The most important thing, which unfortunately 99% of Shards have not been able to achieve is the Energy." EDIT- ooc: Whoops, sorry about that folks. It was supposed to be Energy not Enery, spelling goof on my part. (Last edited by Pockets on 11-02-06 01:05 PM) |

"The Energy is simply that," she explained holding up one hand to reveal the micro
thin slice of black crystal embedded into the palm of her hand. "The crystals focus and enhance energy. The bioelectric field generated by a human body can be enhanced, focused and directed." She smirked. "Haven't any of you ever wanted to shoot lasers out of your hands?" "It's not QUITE like that," Bartin interupted, ignoring the scowl she leveled at him. "The energy created will be released in a short blast, some of which have been capable of leveling a building. The Shard in question died though during that incedent as his own energy burned up his internal organs until his eyes expolded and his head caught on fire." |

"We start right now," she said, smirking at Marin. There was a hiss and a gas was released into the room as the two Shards put on gas masks, protecting them from
the knockout effects of the gas. "See when you wake up," she said. "If you wake up..." ooc- Note: There seriously IS a possibilty that several of the characters will die due to the operation you are all about to undergo. I will be flipping a coin for each character. Heads lives Tails dies. My friends and girlfriend will not be getting preferential treatment because I know them. EVERYONE has the possibility of dieing. |

ok. I flipped 6 coins, heads was death, tails was life. I got five tails and one head.
Derek is dead. The operation procedure didn't bond properly to his central nervous system. His nerve impulses got screwed up and his lungs stopped working, then his heart. There was nothing the doctors could do. Marin, nearly died. The operation was touch and go much of the time and more time was spent on keeping her alive than actually incorporating the crystles into her system. Because of this the acclimation is not always as strong as it should, be making for a Shard more interested in actual physical strength and power. (Elara, send me a PM to discuss the particulars of what that means to your character.) To the survivors, all five of you. Five years have past, you're 20 years old and once again find yourselves in the old conference room facing your beautiful drill sergeant and her hulking body gaurd. You have in the last five years discovered that her name is Merith. She's been tough on all of you, pushing you to your physical and mental limits every day since you'd first met. "Alright children listen up," she barks at you, glaring along the length of the table at the five of you. "You've finally finished training in using and amplifying your own bio energy with the crystles. This squad, it has been decided, shall stay together, despite most squads being only 4 members." "Usually you all have a choice between, sniper, tank, intelligence operative and scout. Since there are five of you however we're going to add a second scout onto this squad I think, you're going to be doing a lot more infiltration type of missions than any other squad." "Your training begins tomorrow." ooc: Please send me a PM on which position you'd like, Intelligence has already been set aside so your choices are Tank, Sniper, Scout or Scout. It will be first come first serve on who get's which position. |

Merith nodded to Marin as she got up to leave the table, but a moment later a
small red light at her wrist began to blink silently. Merith frowned and lifted her sleeve to her mouth. "Report, what triggered the perimeter alarm?" She listened to something the rest couldn't hear, John did however catch small bits and pieces through his computer network. "Come again," she said, "What's going on? She listened again then snapped her attention to the squad. "Marin and Donavan, head for sector two level three. John, hit the ether net and see what you can find I want the surveillance for sectors 1, 2, and 3 as well as the armory and command center and I want it 90 seconds ago." "Gaius follow behind Marin and Donavan and bunker down between sections 3 and 2. Hold the entry point, let no one past you. Keel, you'll set up half way down the corridor from Gaius to run interference." She frowned at you all. "MOVE PEOPLE." EDIT: Sorry, I forgot to mention that in front of each of you at the table there is a case with your name written on it. This case contains your gear and any specialized equipment necessary for your particular squad position. All equipment will be described at a later post. Quick rundown. The complex you've lived in for the last several years consists
of 4 main sectors. Secot r 4 is open to the public and is basically the equivalent of a police station. It is also the location of the main recruitment center. Sector 4 is about 5 stories high and extends roughly 6 to 7 stories underground. Sector's 4 and 3 are connected by a half a mile long corridor. There are only the two doors at either end separating them, no other entry into sector 3 is possible. Sector three is more secure, not open to the public and much larger than sector 4. It is about ten stories above ground and roughly 17-20 below ground consisting of four underground levels. Sector two is also connected by one corridor and is even larger than sector 3. 30 stories above ground and about 45 under, it is in and of itself a massive laboratory complex with miles of corridors within it. Heading down to level three would mean covering 30 floors of stairs. Level three is the most top secret R&D lab in all of the Shard complex. Sector one is more difficult to get to and is the command center. None of you have ever stepped foot within Sector 1 and you have little to no idea of it's structure, design, or what goes on there. |

Merith turned and glared at John as the rest of the squad bolted out of the
conference room. "Where's my surveilance John?" she snapped. Lifting her wrist to her mouth she spoke into the mike hidden there again. "Marin and Donavan, be careful, you don't know what's out there right now." "Gaius and Keel are already in position. Hurry up, and be careful." The hallways of level three are quiet and completely empty. White sterile floors and flourescent lights give the whole place a washed out look. The only thing that doesn't look right in the facility is the large cloud of dust and smoke at the far end of the main corridor, towards the R&D labs. |

John suddenly get's an influx of information, far too much for even him to process
as his networked system starts bringing readings from all over the complex and the city at large. (I'll PM you later with details and info on how that's gonna work) On the screen several images pop up showing the various squad members and the halls of the facility. One screen is obscured by smoke but within it forms can be seen moving about. "Marin, Donavan, you've got targets ahead," Merith says into her mike. "Unknown number, intent, and species. Proceed with caution. If things start to get hair pull out and we'll let Gaius hose the hallway." "Keel set up the rifle and see if the infra red on the scope can give you anything." |
