I woke up at 5 yesterday to finish writing a paper for English. A couple days before that I did the same for my upper-division American studies class.
This last month has been more and more of the same. I keep waking up before the alarm because I feel so nauseous that the alarm might not go off and I might not get the paper done. Last week, I had this midterm through a teacher who says that just being right will get you a D. That damn this is worth 40% of your grade. I was so nauseous that morning and when we were driving to school I kept feeling like I was either going to throw up or have a heart attack. Thankfully I got a B (everyone sitting around me got Cs and Ds. A couple people had panic attacks). I've still got a few papers out with professors that haven't been graded, so I don't know how they will grade the papers I practically had to BS my way through. I'm most worried about the one I turned in on Tuesday. I've got 2 big papers due next week, on top of three smaller writing assignments for three of the other classes (weekly assignments to prove I did the reading). On top of all of this, there's growing tension with my magazine group. We have a member who's voiced to one of the others that she simply doesn't give a shit. This project is 30 pages long and due in early December. In late November I've got an ethnography due for my upper-division American studies Theory class. I might as well start on that now. Goddamnit. Bring on Thanksgiving break already. I will tear out of California like mercury. |

| A friend of mine, who went to this special screening in Hollywood a couple weeks ago where the cast and crew showed up to do Q&A, just told me there was an alternate ending to the movie with Scott just getting back with Knives, who's matured a lot since he met her. This doesn't seem so far-fetched since it seems like Scott and Ramona didn't develop that deep a connection in the movie that they do in the book.
I guess they scrapped this knowing that fans would shit bricks with that sort of change. But seriously, Knives in the final fight was cool, but confusing. Ramona should have been fighting. |

| Just saw "The Expendables." It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't very good either.
The CG was horrendous and there was A LOT of it. It also felt shorter than it should have been, and I wished we could have seen more Mickey Rourke. On the plus side, there are things that made me laugh: Terry Crews' parts and the very brief scene with Sly, Arnold and Bruce Willis (it's the ONLY time you see Willis and Arnold, of course). |

| Just finished "Machine Girl." I'd been meaning to see this for years.
I liked it a lot better than "The Expendables." It's intentionally cheesy. Like if you like the violence in "Kill Bill," "Army of Darkness," or the general over-the-topness of Troma films, "Machine Girl" is pretty fun and just as ridiculous. |

| Change of plans, now Brandon and his band are playing the West Hollywood Halloween Carnival at Twentieth Century Fox's request. The Carnival has like 250,000 people in attendance annually, and Fox wants them to do Rocky Horror songs.
We figure this, along with the "Glee" episode and all-star party, are a multi-pronged attack by Fox to get people to buy the upcoming "Rocky Horror Picture Show" Blu-Ray. I'm excited because I'd been meaning to go to the WeHo costume carnival for years and never got to go because we had a previous engagement (Brandon's band was playing, there was a party, someone had tickets to something, etc). For those not familiar with Los Angeles' cultural layout, WeHo (West Hollywood) is the next biggest gay mecca behind San Francisco. Every year there's slide shows of people's costumes at the WeHo event and I get more and more melancholy missing out (Link to some). | In all honesty...
The Time Warp. Because Fox is trying to plug the shit out of Rocky Horror since it's 1) the 35th anniversary year, and 2) they're releasing the Blu-Ray soon, the Time Warp is getting played everywhere over and over again. Ugh... The song had made its way into print on top of that. Every single article I've read on a special screening or RHPS convention or something about the movie they love to write headlines and leads that go, "Blah blah blah does the Time Warp again!" or "So-and-so time warps through who-the-fuck-cares?-not-me." This is so funny. I was just talking about these videos with my boyfriend the other day. Except, I'm not much of a fan of his rap videos. They're good, but I'm not a huge fan of them.

I'm more a fan of Jace Hall's show. He has the greatest guests and has outstanding interactions with them. He freaking reuniting Apollo Creed and Drago and had them duke it out in Wii Boxing. WIN. I also really dig Jace's producer, Todd. I've met him a few times since he used to do this series with his friends that I thought was hysterical, but sort of ended with only 3 episodes.
Todd's Jace's "mom" in the WoW video, and he also regularly appears on the Jace Hall show.

The situation just keeps getting worse and worse and, frankly, more exhausting. Every morning I wake up to my mother and grandmother fighting. The last couple days have been the worst.

My grandmother's caretaker is really doing a shitty job of actually taking care of her. Part of the deal was to bathe her, she's not doing that. She brings animals and kids while she's watching my grandmother and spends more time attending to them. She's leaving my grandmother alone and unattended when she wants to go out. She's taking things without asking for them. Now she's asking my grandmother how much she gets from social security, how much she has in the bank, how much the house is worth, and if she can get into the garage. Since she's my uncle's wife's friend and she assumes my uncle has control of my grandmother's assets, she's really abusing this. We're speculating that she wants to try to move her family into the house or get more money out of my grandmother. A couple days ago, my mom packed my grandmother a lunch and the caretaker ate it and didn't give my grandmother anything for lunch. She also keeps getting angry with my dad when she flat-out asks him for money for things and he says no. She asked him for $20 so she could buy deodorant. We shop at Costco and have like 5 sticks of deodorant under each sink. My dad goes and gets her one and she still demands the money. 
So Tuesday night, we're sitting down to dinner and my parents are talking about firing Sonya. My grandmother is freaking out and going on about how she wants to move back into her own house and retain Sonya. Since my aunt cleaned out the house and took everything to hers, there's no way she could really live there without trying to get everything back. She and Sonya go there on the days Sonya watches her, but it's still not much for sustaining a person. I think my grandmother sees Sonya as a friend and companion. I really feel sorry for my mom. She fights with my grandmother in the morning, goes to work, and then has to take care of her (and usually end up arguing with her) when she gets home.

This school board vice president in a town 85 or so miles from Little Rock, Arkansas decided to use Facebook as his vehicle to bitch about having to wear purple in commemoration of the gay youngsters who killed themselves due to bullying. There are screencaps of his Facebook comments posted on the link above, but they go:
The man writes like a 4chan troll, which actually made me think someone had hacked into his account and wrote these things. But, I guess, he really did write this bigotry. He went on Anderson Cooper to "apologize." This guy ducks all of the questions. He pretty much agrees that he was caught saying the "wrong" things, but he doesn't deny BELIEVING what he said. What douche throws a fit over having to wear purple? A family who lost a child to suicide over bullying reacts: BONUS: Immediately after the "apology," a reporter got on him to ask the question I was curious about: I realize that someone is not going to learn love, acceptance, and gay tolerance over night, but this is such a ridiculous farce. I'm doing a convention this weekend. So far I've been a presenter for the Friends of Lulu Awards, asked Thomas Jane a question that resulted in him laughing and then saying, "Insert big penis joke here," watched an annoying Shakespeare-ish group, and was handed a 2000 page comic book version of the Bible.
